Worship and Wonder encourages a special environment where young children can meet and worship God. It involves storytelling and a variety of craft opportunities in which the children can interact with a different Bible story each week. Worship and Wonder is geared for kids ages 4 thru the 3rd grade and takes place during worship immediately following the Young Disciples Moment in its own designated room. Clinton Christian Church offered Worship and Wonder many years ago so the church still had in it s possession all of the tools necessary to tell the stories and some members that still retained the knowledge and ability to tell the stories. A training exercise on Sunday, October 14th netted about 15 core volunteers for the endeavor. As a church family we are vested in the idea of raising our kids up in the love and knowledge of Jesus. The Worship and Wonder program requires two adults to facilitate the program each week: a storyteller and a helper. There is always room for more volunteers. If you are interested in helping out notify Melissa Lamphere and she will coordinate any training that you may need and be able to schedule you to be a part of Worship and Wonder.

2 November 2018 THIS ARTICLE WAS ON OUR REGION S WEBSITE, FACEBOOK PAGE AND FEATURED IN THEIR DIGITAL NEWSLETTER. Clinton CC Making A Difference During the month of September the church family of Clinton Christian Church opened their hearts and their wallets and donated many needed items to the local animal shelter, Clinton Animal Rescue. Here in Clinton our pets are part of our family and we have big hearts for animals at the shelter. The items donated were : 190 pounds of dog food; 206 pounds of cat food; 11 bottles of laundry detergent; 5 bottles of unscented bleach; 3 boxes of dog treats; 8 feeding bowls; 10 leashes, and 2 dog toys. These items were presented to volunteers of the animal shelter at our annual Fall Fling Flea Market held in our parking lot on October 13th. We also donate a booth space to the animal shelter at our flea markets so they can show off some of their animals that are up for adoption. In the picture are two members of our Church in Society committee (the committee in charge of the outreach project), three volunteers from the animal shelter, and 2 of the dogs that are up for adoption. THE BIGGER PICTURE We have a Spring Fling Flea Market on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend and our Fall Fling Flea Market some Saturday in early October. We sell booth spaces for $20 and the money raised goes to the membership committee for any outreach they want to do. Our CWF group has a concession stand at the flea market (biscuits and gravy and cinnamon rolls for breakfast, hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch) to raise money for any outreach project they want to pursue. The flea market has been well received by the community. This past one we had 28 outside (the church) vendors participate. We will also have church members bring items to sell and the church has a booth; usually those monies go toward our youth program. We have been doing this for 3 years now. The Church in Society Committee (CIS) has an outreach project most every month. We collected school supplies for Festival of Sharing and sent 72 school supply bags to Tipton. This month we are collecting 950 boxes of cake mix for the Samaritan Center, our local food pantry, for their Christmas Cheer project. CIS is also hosting a Trivia Night on Friday, October 26th to raise funds to help buy books for the Clinton Elementary School kids. Last year we raised $1000 for this project with Trivia Night. 2

4 November 2018 Celebrations and Thank You(s) Prayers of Celebration- Prayers of Thanksgiving for Pat Frankenfield, Sharron Minich and Carol Parsons sister. She is home and doing better. Prayers of celebration that Judy Gann s procedure was successful. Prayers of thanksgiving for the blessings that are helping David Young get back to good health. Thank you for all the prayers for David and Mary while he was hospitalized in Pennsylvania and Kansas City during September. Hello Pastor Tim (Clinton Christian Church) I wanted to take a minute to personally thank you for your role in helping our student on Friday 10/12 to help us keep him in the hotel he d been in. He very much appreciates the assistance, and we were thankful to be able to keep him where he was familiar with the staff and they look out for him. We were really scrambling on Friday to try to help him out for the weekend and you came through when needed. This was a huge blessing for our student and I wanted you to know. Sincerely, Teresa Howard, Social Worker, CHS Thank you to all members of CCC for all of their support for all 4 Red Roof Flea Markets in We made the most money for CWF this past October in the amount of $ from the concession stand and $ from selling items from our booth. Thank you to all that helped by donating their time and talents. On Saturday, December 1st CWF will have their Installation of Officers for the 2019 new officers for CWF. A celebration of thankfulness for officers and chairpersons of different committees from will also take place. This will be a festive Christmas Brunch beginning at 10am in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring goodies to share; all women of CCC are invited to attend. Pastor Tim will be in attendance as well. Let us share our thankfulness of being Christian women in Christ s service. NEXT ELDERS MEETING IS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3rd NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS Clinton Christian Church has a new Sunday School Class cleverly named Grown, but Growing: a Group for Adults in their 20s-40s. They are going to start with studying the book Getting the Most Out of Ephesians by J. Scott Duvall starting on November 4th, The hope for this class is to bring some more people to Sunday School and give us a chance to fellowship together with others our age.

5 CWF news- Pies sales were brisk at the Flea Market. CWF baked and sold 5 pies by the piece. Hoo ray!! Since most CWF members want to spend Thanksgiving with family, our Nov. date to make pies will be Thursday Nov. 29. It is Lunch and Prayer s turn to supply 5 workers. We start at 9 and finish by 11. Sometimes earlier. Stewardship News The church budget for 2019 is nearing completion. A draft was presented to Board members Oct. 8. Discussion followed. Suggestions were accepted. If you have unanswered questions, call anyone on the Stewardship Committee. 49 pledge cards were received this year, up from previous years. Thank you. Church members are doing an awesome job of recycling paper, plastic, etc. Recyclables magically disappear from the building each week. I observe members bringing in trash, pulling weeds, and taking care of the property. That defines stewardship. God instructed us to take care of what he has provided, as well as finding those around us in need of love and understanding. - Pat Bouse, chairperson Church In Society Update Thanks to everyone that contributed to the Clinton Animal Rescue Center Due to your generosity we ended up with Pedigree Dog Food 190 pounds Purina Cat Chow 206 pounds Unscented Bleach 5 bottles Laundry Detergent 11 bottles 3 boxes of treats, 10 leashes, 8 feeding bowls, and 2 toys The items were presented to the shelter at our Fall Fling Flea Market THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT November we are collecting cake mixes for the Samaritan Center s Christmas Cheer. Our goal this year is 950 Committee Reports MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE UPDATE UPCOMING EVENTS NOVEMBER FELLOWSHIP DINNER NOVEMBER 18th IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE WORSHIP SERVICE. OUR ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DINNER. ALSO, CONGREGATIONAL MEETING TO VOTE ON THE BUDGET AND 2019 SLATE OF OFFICERS Red Roof Fall Flea Market Update Saturday, October 13, was a little gray, a little cloudy, and dry. The breeze was a bit nippy and the rain stayed away all day. The shoppers arrived with enthusiasm and had nice things to say. Yes, the third annual Red Roof Fall Flea Market was a success. There were 27 vendors set up with 32 parking spaces occupied; the most ever! I imagine there were over 300 people who visited the church parking lot looking for something of interest to purchase. Thank you to all who helped and in so many ways To the two special ladies who put out the road signs; to those who helped take out and set up tables for the vendors and concessions; to those who helped the vendors set up their canopies; to those who brought out the merchandise for the CWF ladies to sell; to a fine lady who directed the vendors to their designated parking spot; to those who helped with the concessions; and to those I have not listed. Without you, it would have been a struggle to put on the flea market. To have our church so visible. Maybe some of these visitors will make a trip through the front doors of our church on a Sunday morning and become a welcome addition to our church family. You never know the mysterious ways that a person or event can make an impression on another. - Kathy Hetherington

6 November 2018 The month of October was Pastor s Appreciation Month and I didn t get a chance to tell you, my church family, how much I appreciate you. This year, as most of the others have been, was such a blessing to me and my ministry. I am so thankful to have a church family that really lets me use my imagination and come up with some new and different ways to worship and celebrate our God. If you remember correctly on Ash Wednesday I sent you home with a puzzle piece as your focus point for Lent. Then I had you bring the puzzle pieces back on Good Friday to offer them up as an offering and put our puzzle together. All the while we were putting another puzzle together, a piece each week with the final piece put in on Easter. During March you helped Tina celebrate her 50th birthday by collecting 1862 cans of fruit for the Samaritan Center. We collected more items for the Samaritan Center, for the Animal Shelter, for H.O.P.E. Project and many other outreach projects. We had so many meaning fellowship Dinners and Game Nights. We hosted a Saturday prayer Retreat, held meaningful meetings and started wonderful projects and programs. Everything you do for me and Tina, your church family, and the community...well I just want to say I APPRECIATE YOU - PASTOR TIM Evangelism Out and About The Evangelism committee had a booth at the Senior Fest on Thursday, October 11th from 11am to 3pm at the Senior Center. Thank you to everyone that were able to help. David McClymond, Chairman Stewardship of Finances General Fund Budget for 2018: $ 162,344 Needed monthly for General Fund in 2018: $ 13,528 Received for General Fund in Sept. 2018: $12,970 It s never too late to make a pledge commitment! November 30 GAME MORE COMMITTEE REPORTS WORSHIP COMMITTEE The committee met again October 4 to work on the 4-part Advent Play and hymn sing-a-long to be presented each Sunday of Advent in December. There are three characters in the play. Pastor Tim will play one character and Elaine is working to fill the other parts. The play is a creative departure from previous advent lighting ceremonies and promises to provide a meaningful experience. Elaine VonSpreckelsen has agreed to be the incoming chairman of worship and all members pledged to stay on the committee. Others are welcome to join the committee in Let Lisa Wallace or Elaine know if you want to join the worship committee. - Lisa Wallace, chairperson NIGHT Come for Game Night on the 30 th. There won t be the turkey leftovers, hopefully, but there will be food, drinks, and dessert. Bring your friends if you want, just be sure and bring yourself. Come for a light dinner and lots of supercharged fun! DON T MISS OUT Last Friday of the Month Game Night Thanksgiving is over now what?

These are beautiful items that can be used to decorate for any occasion that any committee is sponsoring. Take a peek at the crosses in the Young at Heart Sunday School classroom. They are setting on the bookshelf. When you use a cross or several, please put them back on the bookshelf for others to use. Thank you, Linda, for having a keen eye and a generous heart. Phoebes Thursday November 8 at 11:30 Phoebe's (CWF) women's group will have their monthly meeting in the Holy Grounds Room. Lisa Wallace will bring the program. Marjory Cooper will have the refreshments. We will be making snack/fruit plates to deliver to our shut-ins. Please try to bring something to make these a fun treat. Everyone is welcome to our little group. Don't wait for a special invitation. Bring a sack lunch and prepare to enjoy yourself. Leader: Carol Hinton. Treasurer: Beverly Brown. Greeting cards: Lisa Wallace. JOY Happenings Did you miss the JOY meeting in Oct? The lesson was a study of 1 Corinthians 7:21-24, a challenging part of Paul s writings addressing slavery. The writer of the lesson Rev. Dr. Katy Valentine did in depth study of the life of a slave in the times Paul was writing his letters, as part of her thesis. We learned how unusual it was for slaves to be addressed in any form. Does slavery still exist? Maybe not in the form Paul addressed, but yes it does exist. It is called Human Trafficking. And it is everywhere. Many times, we just do not know what to look for or how to help. Education is available. Often the work place offers training in how to spot Human Trafficking. Did you see on the news the coalition of churches in Kansas City developing a plan to address Human Trafficking? Justice- a directive from Christ. JOY will meet Nov. 19. Fruit plates will be assembled and delivered to our shut-ins. The lesson will be given by Elaine and refreshments supplied by Kathy. We invite you. CWF will hold their Fall Brunch, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 10am in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring a generous amount of food as we have invited Clinton Area Church women to join us to hear our guest speaker: Elaine Sepulveda. Elaine is the Executive Director of Survival Adult Abuse Center in Warrensburg, MO. Henry County Police can send abused families there for help.
