It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve as the Board chair in Everyone..and I truly mean everyone.. has worked very hard and it shows!! We are about the business of serving and those efforts are evident. The warm and welcoming atmosphere is well received by our visitors and guests with some of those choosing to become members. And the dedication to prayer: lifting up our concerns and celebrations knowing and trusting they will be answered but being patient in the meantime. And talents!! Wow! We are blessed with so many talented people who graciously share their abilities. I want to express my heartfelt thanks for your part in our church s vitality and growth. It truly takes all of us and I hope you are proud as well. Here s to a great year ahead of us in 2019!! In Christian Love, Nina 1 COMMITTEE CHAIRS Bill Martin Property Pat Bouse Stewardship Elaine VonSpreckelsen Worship Pat Bouse Christian Women s Fellowship Evangelism Annette Meyers Church In Society Susan Lankford Membership Worship Committee in Review Ever wonder how the weekly worship service is planned at the Clinton Christian Church? The worship committee works well with Pastor Tim and Music Director, Jim Kindall to provide a meaningful worship experience. Highlights in 2018 included our 12-hour prayer vigil for Easter, a Good Friday Service, Memorial Day and Veteran s Day slide shows of our military heroes, and our Advent 4-part play. The bell choir has become more active, playing every other week. And the choir sings a new anthem each week, thanks to the persistence of Jim Kindall to find appropriate music given the range of voices. Jim works hard to provide inspirational music to enhance the worship experience. Thanks to Pastor Tim for being creative and enthusiastic about worship! He has good ideas and wants to try new things. Worship committee is an exciting committee to be on. Think about joining us in 2019.

2 January 2019 Well is put to rest. Though gone, it will never be forgotten. Did you have a good 2018? Probably like most people some of the year was good, some of the year was bad. Hopefully, the bad parts weren t too bad. Most likely in the years to come when you think of 2018 the good parts will come to mind and the bad parts...well not so much. Just think how bad the bad would have been if you had not had Jesus in your life. He never promised that believing in Him and trusting Him would make everything good. What He did promise, however, was that believing and trusting in Him would make the bad times a little better and the good times a little better as well. Can you imagine losing a loved one without the promise of eternal life? Can you imagine pain and sickness without the hope that Jesus gives us? Life would be so desperate and lonely without the many things that our relationship with Jesus offers. Your relationship with Jesus, first of all, promises you eternal life. It also gives you hope in bad situations and peace of heart and mind to know that He is there with you in those harsh times. Your relationship gives you a church family that loves you dearly and is not here to judge, but here to comfort you and help you through difficult times. Your church family is also there to celebrate with you when your life is good. We long to share your joy with you. At this church, at this point in time, your relationship with Jesus brings you a pastor that loves and cares for you very much. A pastor that thoroughly enjoys the journey together, with you, of trying to be followers of Jesus in this crazy, mixed up world. And...I m sure you can come up with many other benefits your relationship with Jesus offers. So, what a wonderful thing to carry into Your relationship with Jesus. And what a golden opportunity to reflect on how strong that relationship is as we move into the new year. Are you experiencing all of the aspects of your relationship I mentioned above? Are some felt stronger than others? Are you experiencing any of those aspects? If you are not experiencing them, now would be a good time to ask yourself - WHY? I can guarantee Jesus is doing His part. Jesus never pulls away, Jesus never leaves you stranded. If you feel far from Jesus in your relationship with Him, then it is YOU that has pulled away. If this is the case, then there are many things you can do to strengthen it. First of all, join us in worship on Sunday on a regular basis. It s a great way to rejuvenate your soul. Also, take time out of your busy schedule to fellowship with your church family. There are many opportunities to do so. Open yourself up to the love and support your church family has to offer. Trust that we are there to help you, not to judge you. Also, be a member of your church family that others feel safe to confide in and know they will not be judged by you. Read your Bible. Pray on a regular basis. Be a strong example of Jesus love to others: even if you don t know them. Kindness to others goes a long way to build your relationship with Jesus. Well...when I sat down to write this I didn t have what I wrote in mind at all. Just goes to show that if you open yourself up to the Holy Spirit, strange and great things can happen. Many great things happened for Clinton Christian Church in I urge to to join us for the even BETTER things in store for Have a safe and Happy New Year. GOD BLESS YOU ALL - PASTOR TIM 2

4 January 2019 Celebrations and Thank You(s) Thank you to all of you that donated blankets to our Christmas Eve offering. Those blankets were then donated to the Freezin for a Reason ministry at First Christian Church of Blue Springs. FCC of Blue Springs collects blanket for the homeless all year round and is one of the main outlets that organizations like Salvation Army and City Union Mission use to get blankets to hand out to the homeless. Pastor Tim did keep some of the blankets we collected to help the homeless here in Clinton to stay warm as well. We are called by Jesus to help those that are less fortunate than ourselves. Thank you for answering that call. - Pastor Tim Thank you to my church family for the gift of the Love Offering this Christmas season. Please understand that this is unnecessary you all show your love to me in so many different ways. However, I will humbly accept it. I want you to know that I am the one that is truly blessed by being called to be the pastor of Clinton Christian Church. You make my call extremely easy and my ministry a true joy. God Bless - Pastor Tim Congratulations to Andy and Brandi Engelhart. Andy and Brandi tied the knot of wedded bliss on Friday, December 14 at 4pm. A small, intimate family gathering was held and the tears flowed. It was a beautiful ceremony and a great looking couple. Vows were spoken and I Do s were given. 6 January 2019 MORE COMMITTEE REPORTS Three Committees work to make our Church safer in 2018 and beyond INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS SUNDAY, JANUARY 13TH DURING WORSHIP SERVICE. As we begin 2019 in the life of our church, I would ask each and every one of us to lift up these members who have agreed to serve in these positions: Board Chair Lisa Wallace 1st Vice Chair Curtis Mills 2nd Vice Chair Carol Hinton Recording Secretary Elaine VonSpreckelsen Financial Secretary JoAnne Kemper Alternate Financial Secretary Andy Engelhart Church Treasurer Brian Hetherington Church Clerk Ruth Kindall Sunday School Superintendent Kathy Hetherington Asst Sunday School Superintendent Florence Goslin Board Members at Large (2 yr terms) -- Jeanna Thomas, Bree Smith and David Barnett Trustee (3 yr term) Meagan Johnson Property Chair Bill Martin Stewardship Chair Pat Bouse Worship Chair Elaine VonSpeckelsen CWF Chair Pat Bouse Evangelism Chair Membership Chair Susan Lankford AMEN Group Steve Baker CIS Chair Annette Meyer Elder Chair Nina Sisk Diaconate - David McClymond, Susan Lankford, Louise Brownfield, Curtis Mills, Pattie Johnson, Jeanna Thomas, Matt Jones, Meagan Johnson Elder - Bree Smith Together we are on this journey in the life of our church both inside and outside the physical walls. Let us continue to keep our focus on serving. May we listen to how God directs and leads us. Stewardship of Finances General Fund Budget for 2018: $ 162,344 Needed monthly for General Fund in 2018: $ 13,528 Received for General Fund in Nov. 2018: $11,446 It s never too late to make a pledge commitment! In November 2017 Bob Pattison and Dan Wallace were appointed to co-chair the Building Safety and Assessment Committee. A meeting was held that month with Clinton Police, Clinton Fire, and the Church Property Committee. Mechanical, electronic, and human solutions to make the building safe were discussed. In the first few months of the year, Property worked hard to address safe egress issues at multiple exits of the building by installing crash bars on the doors as well as upgrading exit signs, all recommended by the fire department. In January, Bob, Dan and the Building Safety Assessment Committee hosted two meetings presented by Sgt. Chad Nepple of the Clinton Police Department to discuss personal techniques to make us safer at Church, school, the shopping center, and others areas where people gather and violent events have taken place in the past. In the spring, we lost Bob, a very devoted member of our Church and a very valuable asset to the committee as well as our guardian angel as he sat in the back of the sanctuary and had our back on Sunday mornings. Diane was very gracious in designating our Church as the recipient of Bob s memorial contributions. During the year a team of guardian angels started securing the outside doors at 10:15 and the front doors at 10:30. There have been several times that the guardian angel on duty has been able to greet late-comers to our service. There have also been some times where they were there to meet a visitor needing assistance from Pastor Tim after the worship service. In August a plan was developed to seek bids for a security camera system and an additional flat-panel TV in the lobby. The camera system was seen to be beneficial during the week as well as on Sunday mornings for worship and nursery safety. The added flat-panel outside Holy Grounds would display the announcements as people gathered and when worship started would display the service in the lobby. Bids were taken and the Memorial Committee agreed to fund the equipment with Bob s memorials as well as other funds. Local business SecureNet installed the equipment in November and donated the labor for the project. In the very near future, an AED device will be received that is being donated to the church by a local family. Training will be provided on that life-saving equipment. At a worship service in January, there will be a ceremony to dedicate the new equipment and demonstrate the camera system.
