But as often in the history of the church since that time, evil was awake, but the disciples were asleep. That is why there came out of His anguished and lonely Heart a sigh: Could you not watch one hour with Me? (Mt 26:40). Not for an hour of activity did he plead, but for and hour of friendship -Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen The difference between spending time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament exposed in a monstrance, rather than in the tabernacle, is the same as the difference between conversing with a friend face-to-face instead of having a closed door between you. Everyone that spends time in adoration of Jesus in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist develops a personal relationship with Jesus and grows in love and holiness. Quiet time with the Lord in adoration enables people to listen and recognize His voice as He speaks to their hearts. Parish communities experience increased Mass attendance, service of others, unity, conversions, the return of fallen away Catholics, as well as vocations to the priesthood and religious life. * * * * * *

5 St. Frances Cabrini Parish Council Meeting October 15, :00 PM John Cahoj called the meeting to order and Fr. Vincent led the group in prayer. Members present were: Ron Schamberger, Joyce Tice, John Cahoj, Lucille Heim, Betty Newman, Elmer Zimmerman, Adam Mauck, Brian Diercks, Mat Juenemann, Charlene Meier and Fr. Vincent Thu Laing. Sean Otter from the Finance Council was also present. Members absent: Pat Kennedy Agenda was reviewed. Lucille made a motion to approve; Mat seconded; motion carried. Minutes were reviewed. Mat made a motion to approve; Brian seconded; motion carried. Financial reports were reviewed. Joyce made a motion to approve; seconded by Lucille; motion carried. Report of Commissions Religious Education: No report. Evangelization and Welcome: No report. Christian Service and Family Life: Ron is working on the bazaar; flyers are up, raffle tickets are around town, article in the paper, donations are coming in, and he will talk to Laurie about the 4-H building. There will be a table for donations for the renovation. Maintenance and Cemetery: No report. Liturgy and Renewal: No report. Old Business: Cemetery rules and regulations update was tabled until completion of church remodel. Charlene will check about toner for the copier/printer. New Business: Elmer will check on rock for the area east of the church. Sean will go to Equity Bank to update signature cards. Adam and Elmer will look at the small windows on the front door of the rectory to see if they can fix them. Elmer will check on Amanda s desk. Adam and Elmer have located the problem with the water leak in the basement. When it dries out, they will address fixing it. Mat is grateful for the extra people who help his committee. Adam will check on replacing the furnace filters. Father s Report: Father is checking on dates in early December for the blessing of the altar by the bishop. Father reported some tombstones are leaning in the cemetery; that is the responsibility of the parishioner, not the parish. There was discussion on moving the church sign to north of the sidewalk while we have the workers available. Miscellaneous: Father will be leaving on January 20 for Burma and return on March 1. Christmas collection will be for the renovation of the church. Announcements: The next Parish Council Meeting will be January 14, 2019 at 6:30 PM.
