1 Feast of the Ascension May 17, 2015 Pastor's Corner "Go into all the world and proclaim the Good News to the whole creation." After three years of ministry with the people, Jesus had suffered the death on the cross, was buried and rose from the dead. He appeared many times after His Resurrection, spoke and ate with His followers, taught them, walked with them and explained the scriptures to them. It was now time for Him to return to the Father. A little bit like our Moms and Dads, Jesus, taught them how to live life and to find joy and peace in doing so. He did not tell them that life would be without difficulties. However if they lived life loving and helping others that they would find inner peace. Moms and Dads have the same desire and hope for you and me. They want us to be happy and they want us to use the gifts that the Lord has given us to make our world better. Then they leave us and return to the Father. We have been sent by them into the world to proclaim the Good News they gave to us from our youth so that we can continue the work of bringing the Good News to e veryone we meet. Jesus had finished His work among us. Now He wanted those He prepared to take that message to every corner of the earth. It was a big task, and yet over two thousand years later, His message has reached over half of the world and it continues to spread. Our task is to make certain His message resonates with our family and our friends and in our own lives. There can be nothing more important for a Christian than to live out in our daily lives the mandate of Jesus...Go into the world and make disciples. We are challenged every day we are alive to bring this message to others, especially to the members of our family and friends. On this feast of the Ascension lets each of us renew our commitment to live out in our lives this incredible invitation from Jesus Himself to spread His message of love, mercy and forgiveness to all who come into our lives.

We can all see how expensive it is to have a working, serving, ministering parish in the Loch Lomond area. We try to the best of our ability to keep our costs down, but everything is expensive and everything continues to increase in cost. I hope and pray that as members of the parish we understand that these costs have to be borne by the community as the basic income we receive is from the Sunday Offertory. Tickets are $20.00 Drawing will be June 13. We are 22 days away from the Draw for our Fund raiser and we still have few returns from the tickets. This is a bit of a shock! Our Centre has been such a source for good in this community. Five years ago we had very few services in this community. Now the Centre allows us to have a tremendous number of services and activities that were unheard of a few years ago. As a parish we have echoed the words of today's gospel through the Centre. We serve the needy and make available for God's people, without discrimination almost everything they can find in the City. These services help with the cost of parking, of gas, of work time. They are convenient and fast and for our seniors an opportunity to socialize, exercise and just enjoy the golden years. The Centre helps young moms and those trying t o grow in their faith. We have a gem here but we need to realize that everything costs and the Centre cost us nearly three million dollars to build. we still have a 1.2 million dollar debt that we must pay. We are making our regular payments and we are doing fund raiser to help us with this responsibility. But we need everyone to do their part. The tickets give you an opportunity to stretch a bit. If you have sold one, try a second book, if you have sold two try a third...it's only when we all go that extra mile that we win the race. Loch Lomond Home Hardware and Mitsubishi gave us close to $ no strings attached...surely we can all work a bit harder and sell two or three books to help us go over the top... I know we can do it...let's do it!

4 SCHOOL HAPPENINGS Afterschool Program To celebrate Mother's Day this year the kids made a book titled "All About Mom". Each child completed a questionnaire about their mom. A: She's the best thing AFTERSCHOOL CHEF PROGRAM Starting on Wednesday, May 20th for the following 4 weeks. H.O.P.E. Centre is excited to be introducing a new program for some of the older children in our afterschool program! This is a free program that is being offered. The program has taken 10 older participants and will be having lot of fun learning, cooking, and eating together! Karen Simon a dietician will be instructing the class for an hour and a half. This is a great learning tool for children in this generation. With video games taken over and most times both parents working. Children are not learning the basics in the kitchen. They will be guided in the H.O.P.E. Kitchen and shown how to crack an egg and COOK IT! Other healthy snacks will be shown as well, for example how to make a wrap and choose healthy eating. If you would like to help in chaperoning in the kitchen from 3:30 to 5:00 please call Tracie Dyker We sure could use your help. H.O.P.E. CENTRE YARD SALE We will be having our community yard sale on June 6 from 8:00 to 2:00. Rain date for the following Saturday on June 13. If you wish to have a table or two to participate in this the tables are available for rent. Tables are $15.00 each or 2 for $25.00 only a limited amount of tables. Call to book yours now. I am in the process of taking names and phone numbers of any senior who would be interested in doing a beginner, senior level of Yoga for six weeks?
