This year s Holiday Fair is scheduled Nov. 3 rd and 4 th Please note that there will be two changes in the fair this year. First, there will be no White Elephant table. In its place will be a Reading corner selling gently used books; kids, young adults, adults. We will be collecting those from now until the fair. Second, the Theme Basket table is being eliminated and we will be having a Lottery Ticket raffle instead. Anyone wishing to donate a ticket can either bring it to the Rectory or place it in the collection basket at. Anyone interested in getting involved with the fair, please feel free to contact Rhea at HVAC UPDATE New controls have been installed and are functioning well! The current AC unit is 30 years old and has substantial leaks and is not cost effective to repair. A new unit has been ordered and we hope to install by July. Until then, we are operating on only one compressor. The cost of this project is $90,000. We will be able to fund this expense without a capital campaign because of the stewardship of Msgr. Oliveira, who was able to save some money since the parish debt was retired and theree we can draw on that income. Eucharistic Minister & Lector schedule July, August & September is available in the priest s sacristy, on our parish website & the parish APP. Rev. Fr. Rodrigo Miranda, IVE, missionary priest, member of the Institute of the Incarnate Word, has been assigned to visit St. Mary's Parish, the weekend of July 14/15 as part of the 2018 Mission Cooperative Program Fr. Rodrigo was a missionary priest in the Middle East almost 10 years. He was assistant pastor in Our Lady of the Annunciation (Bethlehem-Beit Jala in the Holy Land), and the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. He has also worked serving the community of the Holy Family Catholic Church in the Gaza Strip. He worked with the Catholic communities of Latin and Coptic rites in Alexandria, Cairo and southern Egypt. He was vicar in Our Lady of Anjara Catholic Church (North of Jordan at the Syrian- Iraqi border). He was the priest in charge of the pastoral activity of the Latin Rite Cathedral in Aleppo, Syria, between 2011 and 2014, and with the works of mercy and humanitarian service during the war in Syria. At the same time, he was secretary of the bishops Latin rite of this diocese. He currently lives in Rome, and is assigned to promote the mission of the Institute in the Middle East, to raise awareness about the serious and dangerous situation of local Christians that live there, especially lecturing on these topics in Europe, Latin America and the US. Spiritual Life will be offering a Summer Bible Study Course on the Book of Genesis six consecutive Tuesdays beginning July 17 th concluding August 21 st. 9 AM to 10:30 AM and 6:30 PM to 8 PM in the Unsworth Hospitality Center. All that is required is willingness to share your faith and love of God with the youth of our parish. Be what Jesus wants you to be. All he wants is Y OU. Is that too much to ask? GUIDELINES FOR HOW TO RECEIVE HOLY COMMUNION Paul VI reduced the fasting requirement after the Second Vatican Council, requiring only a one hour fast from all food and drink (excluding water). This may be reduced to 15 minutes those who are sick or other important reasons. This is the practice currently in ce. We should prepare ourselves Holy Communion by acknowledging that we are about to receive the Sacramental Lord. We should be neat with clean hands and modest in our appearance, and respectful and reverent in our manner. A head bow is appropriate and please respond with: Amen. Each time we receive Holy Communion we should try to be as devout and reverent as if it were the only Communion of our lives. After Holy Communion we should spend some time thanking the Lord, renewing our promises of love and of obedience to Him, and asking Him blessings ourselves and others. The programs include academic, athletic and perming arts students Grades 6-9. Join them a great learning experience and a whole lot of fun throughout the summer! Ca hedral Camp is a private day camp owned and operated by the Diocese of Fall River and is located on Long Pond in East Freetown. This retreat/ camp is a great time boys ages to seek to grow in their faith and fraternity, learning how to discern what is one of the most important things in their life: their vocation. Pro Life Boot Camp At Pro Life Boot Camp, we dis- cuss important matters in our Catholic faith that many young people question today. During the weekend, we play games, travel throughout the community, and have group discussions with other young people interested in life and the Catholic faith s view of the world. This camp runs from Thursday July 19 to Saturday July 22 at Stonehill College. For many in Latin America and Caribbean, rural terrain and a lack of ministers are obstacles to practicing their faith. The Catholic Charities Appeal ends in 10 days and we d like to encourage everyone to participate. Your contribution helps the Diocese fund vital programs and ministries that serve the needy of southeastern achusetts, Cape Cod, and the Islands one person at a time.
