When we share what we have with those who are in need, we, too, will discover Jesus in our midst (Our Sunday Visitor, ibid., page 17). All Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers & Music Ministry - CORI renewals are available in the priest s sacristy. Volunteers who have previously been CORIed and would like to renew, please call Dave Beaulieu at the office. Eucharistic Minister and lector renewal forms are also included. Please complete all forms fully and return by April 30. There are a number of 8:00AM Weekday Masses for 2018 available. If interested please call the office. The Parish office will be closed Friday, April 20 for staff training. Thank you for your understanding. HVAC UPDATE As you are aware, on December 31 st, the two-air handler heating coils froze and ruptured. They have been repaired and we contracted Advance Air to examine the cause and perform needed maintenance on the system. They determined that the master controls and safety equipment failed. The controls are original and parts are no longer available. We need to replace the controls which will cost $38,000 and then deal with the replacement of the church air conditioner evaporator and coils, which are also original equipment and whose coils have leaks and the compressors failed. That cost is to be determined when we go out to bid. The primary circulator for the boiler has also failed and must be replaced, $13,000. I was hoping that the controls and repairs would be covered by our boiler insurance; the insurance does not cover freeze ups or antiquated equipment. We should have sufficient funds on hand for the HVAC repair, but your generous support of the building fund is most sincerely appreciated. If you are alienated or upset, we welcome you lovingly. If you are in need of forgiveness, Jesus forgives and loves you unconditionally, and so do we. If you have been hurt by the church, we are truly sorry. If you are angry, Jesus offers you peace. BISHOP ATTENDING LAY LISTENING SESSIONS THROUGHOUT DIOCESE Come and share your hopes and dreams for our Church! Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., is hosting a series of Listening Sessions at different parish locations as part of the strategic planning process here in the Fall River Diocese. Members of diocesan parishes are invited to attend one of them to offer their thoughts into that process. Prayer Shawl Ministry These shawls have helped people in times of need due to either illness, surgery, the loss of a loved one, the illness of a child and many more issues. Our group gathers on Monday afternoons from 1-3 in the Fr. Unsworth Center. New members are always welcome. If you are interested in joining this group or would like more information about this caring ministry please call Mary Ellen at CHILDREN S LITURGY OF THE WORD (CLOW): This ministry involves participants to share the Word of God with children pre-school through Grade 3. Children are blessed during a Sunday morning Mass and are sent forth with adult leaders to the Memorial Chapel. Using approved texts that follow the same readings that adults share on each Sunday, the children listen and respond to the Word of God. They listen to an age-appropriate homily by one of the adult team members. They join the assembly for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. We are looking to form a team of Adults to lead our young people. If you are entering or currently in high school, then we can help you find the answer. At Pro Life Boot Camp, we discuss important matters in our Catholic faith that many young people question today. During the weekend, we play games, travel throughout the community, and have group discussions with other young people interested in life and the Catholic faith s view of the world. This camp runs from Thursday July 19 to Saturday July 22 at Stonehill College. Mother s Day, May 13th: Once again we will provide an opportunity to remember your mother on Mother s Day. Envelopes will be available next week for your use at the entrance of church. For each $5 donation, a rose will be purchased for our altar on Mother s Day weekend. All names submitted (living or deceased) will be remembered at all the Masses on Mother s Day weekend. Please return your envelope as soon as possible so proper arrangements can be made. The Catholic Charities Appeal has a tremendous impact on our community as over tens of thousands of people are assisted annually across the Diocese of Fall River. Through the generosity of the parishioners of the 82 parishes of the Diocese, the hungry are fed, the sick and infirm are cared for, and the children and adults in need of shelter and protection are housed and comforted to name a few of the many services that depend on the annual Catholic Charities Appeal. 94 cents of every dollar donated last year went directly to the agencies and apostolates funded by the Annual Appeal. As the 2018 Catholic Charities Appeal begins, please pr ayer fully consider giving as generously as possible to our brothers and sisters in need.
