It is based on a best-selling book that was published in January One of the book s authors who is also one of the producers of the movie, Ann McElhinney, was the special guest speaker at our annual Pro-Life Breakfast this past January at the Bayfront Convention Center. We hope as many people as possible will go and see, and support, this movie. Please make sure that everyone in your congregation knows about Gosnell. Please discern whether God is inviting you to financially assist our sisters and brothers whose lives are being affected by natural disasters around the globe and in our own backyard. Visit the Social Justice and Life website at disasterrelief.html to learn more about how you can donate to disaster relief efforts. Let us also remember to pray for those affected by natural disasters. Please support those affected by natural disasters in prayer, regardless if you are able to assist financially. God of hope and mercy, we lift up to you all victims of natural disasters and those responding with assistance and aid. Protect all who are in any form of danger; provide practical help to those in need; strengthen the weary, console the grieving, heal the suffering; and bless those engaged in disaster relief efforts with safety and courage. Help all people of good will respond with compassion and generous hearts. Amen. OCTOBER 10/01/2018 The following is a special message from Bishop Lawrence Persico regarding a request by Pope Francis for the month of October: Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ: October is the month of the Holy Rosary. Many individuals and parishes use this month to pray the rosary every day with a greater devotion to the Blessed Mother. The Holy Father has decided to invite all the faithful, of all the world, to pray the Holy Rosary every day during the entire Marian month of October, and thus to join in communion and in penitence, as the people of God, in asking the Mother of God and Saint Michael the Archangel to protect the Church from the devil, who always seeks to separate us from God and each other. This is especially important as we face the evil of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. Following the request of Pope Francis, I ask all the faithful of the Diocese of Erie that during the month of October the praying of the Holy Rosary conclude with the prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel. Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. Sincerely yours in Christ, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Erie, #515, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, is looking for enthusiastic Catholic women, at least 18 years of age, to further the works of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in the church and our local community.
