2 SACRED HEART CHURCH ERIE, PA WEEKLY COLLECTION REPORT: SACRED HEART FALL FEST October 7 th 11:00 AM 5:00 PM In just one week, the Sacred Heart Fall Fest will be here. The committee has been working very hard to bring you a fun filled day so come and join us next Sunday. We are looking for a few more volunteers. If you are interested in donating your time, please contact Marilyn Sharp at (814) or (814) All Theme basket(s) or monetary donations towards baskets should be turned to the Rectory or Parish office as soon as possible. Any remaining Grand Prize tickets should be returned to the Parish Office or can be dropped off at the Grand Prize table on the day of the event. To our wonderful bakers, please drop off your delicious baked goods in the Auditorium on Saturday, October 6 th from 10:00 AM until noon or before or after the 10:00 AM mass on Sunday, October 7 th. As a reminder, we are unable to accept any goodies that need refrigeration. Every year, the Pontifical Mission Society sponsors World Mission Month to raise awareness of the church s missionary work across the globe. Mission Month aims also to remind all Catholics of our responsibility to support missionary work by our prayers, actions and financial support. The Mass will be followed by a special reception and program at Mother Teresa Academy, 160 W. 11 th St., featuring two talks and refreshments. The bishop s Oct. 7 Mass will kick off a year-long preparation in the Diocese of Erie for the October 2019 Extraordinary Mission Month, declared by Pope Francis. The good news is that making more sustainable lifestyle choices in just a few areas adds up to a big difference overall. This can be done individually or in a communal setting. Reflect on one change you can commit to as you begin to live your pledge. The three most impactful areas to improve your choices are energy, meals, and transportation. In energy, aim to use less energy and, if possible, renewable energy. In meals, aim to eat less meat, many people are surprised to learn that meat production is a leading cause of climate change and deforestation. In transportation, aim to take fewer solo trips by car.
