Mother s Day Novena Mass Cards Novena May 7 May 14 Mother s Day Novena Mass Cards are available at all Church entrances for those who wish to purchase this Novena of Masses in honor of their mothers living or deceased. The donation is $10. The Novena will begin Saturday May 7th and continue through Saturday May 14th. 2 Seventh Sunday of Easter Page 2 W elcome to P.R.E.P. NEWS Parish Registration We welcome you if you are a new member to the parish and invite you to register at the Rectory Office. We encourage you to share in a parish ministry program. You may register at Holy Family in a variety of ways including picking up the form in the rectory or filling the form out online and either mailing it to the rectory, dropping it in the collection basket or hand delivering it to the rectory. Become a Registered Parishioner One of the most important things that the people of a parish should do is register. Registering for the parish not only makes you more apart of the family of Holy Family and the Church it gives a chance for you and your family to be counted and heard in the parish. Some important reasons to register are the following: Sponsor Certificates - when you are asked to be a sponsor for either Baptism or Confirmation you need a letter signed from your pastor stating that you are a practicing Catholic. If you are not registered in the parish it is not possible for the pastor to sign these forms. Marriage- For marriage preparation and marriage a letter may be needed from your pastor to allow you to get married in another parish or church. Funerals- when burying a loved one in a catholic cemetery without a funeral mass it is necessary to get priest lines. Unfortunately the pastor needs to know if a parishioner was a registered member before he can officially sign the documents. Mailings - You will receive all parish mailings with regards to special events and announcements. Contributions - registered parishioners receive weekly envelopes to assist with the day to day operations of the parish. These are just a few of the ways that being a registered parishioner can make your experience a better one at Holy Family. MASS INTENTIONS/MEMORIALS If you would like to memorialize the Tabernacle Flowers or Tabernacle Light Sanctuary candle in honor/memory of a loved one for one week, please contact the parish office at to reserve. Intentions will be listed in the bulletin. Masses are also available, please contact the parish office for specific dates. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION RE-REGISTRATIONS Parents with children in our religious education program should have received their re-registration forms by mail for the school year. Revisions this school year include a 4th grade summer program, the same time as 5th grade, June 27, 28, 29, 30 and July 5, 6, 7 and 8th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm; and our 1st grade program returns to a Tuesday afternoon, from September thru December 4:306:00 pm. Please make any necessary corrections, SIGN and return the form, including the non-refundable registration fee, or promissory note (call to request) by May 31, 2016: (FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADE PARENTS PLEASE SEND IN ASAP.) SIGNED registrations ONLY will be accepted, for each child. If mailing please list to the Attn: PREP office on envelope. All 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 7th graders may hand it in to their teachers during their remaining classes. You may also drop it off to our church REL ED office (rear of church, first door on walkway, large parking lot) see registration times below. CLOSED FRIDAYS Fees increase June 1. Absolutely no re-registrations will be taken after June 30th, your child will have to wait for the year. NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE TAKEN BY PHONE. PLEASE READ YOUR LETTERS CAREFULLY! NEW REGISTRANTS To register NEW STUDENTS in our religious education program, the following requirements must be met: 1. Family MUST first be registered in Holy Family parish, at the rectory. 2. Registration (in person) at the religious education office (Under the church). 3. Copy of baptismal certificate for each child (even if baptized at Holy Family). 4. A non-refundable registration fee as stated below for each child. 1 CHILD $ CHILDREN $ OR MORE CHILDREN $ A referral letter (proof of attendance) is required from a former parish for students transferring to our parish. 6. Grades 3 through 8 must also present proof of other sacraments they have made. The normal time to begin religious education is the year your child begins first grade. REGISTRATION DATES & HOURS: On Tuesday, May 3rd & May 10th from 1:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Thereafter thru May 31st Tuesday and Wednesdays 10:00 to 1:00 pm. Call with any questions.

Dear Mother, thank you for your Yes to the invitation of the angel which brought heaven to earth and changed human history. You opened yourself to God s word and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. Dear mother, intercede for all of our mothers. Ask your Divine Son to give them the grace of surrendered love so that they could join with you in giving their own Fiat. May they find daily strength to say yes to the call to the sacrificial lovethe very heart of the vocation of motherhood. May their love and witness be a source of great inspiration for all of us called to follow your Son. Congratulates 2016 St. Timothy Award Recipient Megan Casey congratulates Holy Family High School Youth Ministry Member Megan Casey on receiving this year s St. Timothy Award. Megan is a Senior at St. John Vianney High School and has been an active member of the Holy Family High School Youth Ministry for four years. She stepped up in the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy fundraising for our St. Vincent de Paul Society, volunteers for Family Promise spending quality time with young children, and is a true model of Catholic youth. 4 Page 4 EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION The essence of the role of Eucharistic Minister is to draw faith from the people. It is a sharing in preaching, teaching and leading aspects of the church. An Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion assists the priest in distributing the Blessed Sacrament within the Mass and by bringing the Eucharist to the sick and homebound outside of the Mass, all with permission and under the direction of the priest. The requirements for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion state that the person must be an exemplary Catholic, may be either male or female, at least 18 years of age (with the exception of juniors and seniors in a Catholic high school trained and mandated to serve only at school Masses). Ministers must have received all Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist and Penance) and if married, they must have had a valid marriage in the Roman Catholic Church.
