Classes are held on the 2 nd & 3 rd Tuesday of each month. Please come by the Parish Office to register or call for more information. Reconciliation The Sacrament of Penance is offered on Saturdays, from 4:30p.m. to 5:30p.m. or by appointment. Sacrament of Marriage Please contact the Parish Office at least (6) six months prior to your desired wedding date to arrange a meeting with Father Tony or one of the Deacons. If you want a Mass, you must call Father Tony. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Are you a non-catholic who is interested in joining the Catholic faith? Are you a baptized Catholic who has never received the sacraments of 1 st Communion and Confirmation? If your answer is yes to either of these questions, call the Parish Office. Sacrament of First Communion First Communion candidates must be baptized, at least in the second grade, and have been attending CCE classes for two full years previous to their receiving the Sacrament. Adults needing First Communion should refer to the rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Sacrament of Confirmation Confirmation candidates must have previously received the Sacraments of Baptism and First Communion. They must have faithfully attended Life Teen for at least one full year prior to beginning preparation for the Sacrament (more than three absences without a valid excuse can alter the process). A signed form stating that the parent/ guardian and the candidate understand all requirements is also necessary before the preparation begins. Adults needing confirmation should refer to the Rite of Christian initiation of adults. Learn how each period of salvation history fits into the practice of the Catholic faith. You will understand your faith and the Mass more deeply through this study. The study begins on August 19 and will meet in the Rosary Hall Conference 11:00am on Sunday mornings. The cost is $35. for materials, but if you are interested in repeating this study, it is free. 3 Dear parish family, 28 Sunday B Our parish family Bazaar is next Sunday! It s our day of fellowship and to have a family fun under the Fall Sun. Please invite all your family, friends and neighbors to have wonderful time with us. While all are set with regards to the prizes, booths, games, food and other stuff pertaining to the bazaar, we are still much in need of volunteers. Please sign up to any of the booths or whatever service you can offer. A little giving up of your time to serve means a lot and helps big time. You still have a week more to sell the raffle tickets, remember it is the lifeblood of our Bazaar. We still have a lot of them. Who knows you can be a winner! We spend a little money for family fun, give time and energy for parish bonding and fellowships then in the end our church benefits the proceeds. The bottom line, everybody wins nobody loses. Let s all work hard to make the Bazaar a great success and pray that the weather cooperates. You may have noticed the newly paved parking lots of St. Mary s Hall and St. Vincent de Paul. That cost us 36 thousand dollars plus we also replaced our old fashioned lights at the St. Mary parish Hall with energy saving Led lights costing to almost six thousand dollars. With these expenses we have liquidated the Grant money given to us from the Cameroon Foundation. We are so grateful for the generosity of the Foundation that enables us to do a lot of improvements and repairs in our church facilities in the past two years. Since the Grant is over, whenever we ll have some issues with maintenance repairs we rely now solely on the extra funds we can generate from our Bazaar. So please support the next week s parish event with your energy and enthusiasm. Jesus message in this Sunday s gospel is to emphasize that if we wish to follow him closely then we should be ready to let go anything that would block our way to him. A stewardship way of life asks us to look at three simple, practical areas Time, Talent, and Treasure. But it asks us to commit to them from the depths of our being. Only then can we truly be free to follow Christ. Only then do we obtain the countless riches of God s wisdom and a path to eternal life. Blessing to all and have a good week! Fr. Tony Querida familia parroquial, 28 Domingo B Nuestro Bazar parroquial familiar es el próximo domingo! Es nuestro día de compañerismo y de pasar un buen tiempo con la familia bajo el sol de otoño. Por favor inviten a toda su familia, amigos, y vecinos para que vengan a pasar un buen tiempo con nosotros. Todo está listo con los premios, puestos, juegos, comida y otras cosas para el bazar, aun necesitamos mucha ayuda de voluntarios. Por favor anótense para cualquier puesto o en cualquier servicio que puedan ofrecer. Un poco de su tiempo que ofrecen en servir significa mucho y ayuda mucho. Aún tienen una semana más para vender los boletos para la rifa, recuerden que esto es lo más grande para nuestro Bazar. Aún tenemos mucho tiempo. Quizás tú puedas ser un ganador! Gastamos poco dinero en divertirnos con la familia, en dar tiempo y energía para unirnos más en la parroquia y compañerismo y al final nuestra iglesia beneficia. Al final de cuentas todos ganan, nadie pierde. Vamos a trabajar duro para que nuestro Bazar sea un gran éxito y oren para que el tiempo este bien. Quizás se hayan fijado en el nuevo pavimento del estacionamiento del salón de Sta. María y San Vicente de Paul. El costo fue de 36 mil dólares y reemplazar nuestras viejas luces en el salón de Sta. María con luces de Led costando casi seis mil dólares. Con estos gastos hemos liquidado el dinero que se nos dio de la fundación de Cameroon. Estamos muy agradecidos de la generosidad de la fundación que nos ayuda a hacer muchos mejoramientos y arreglos en nuestra iglesia los dos años pasados. Ahora que se terminó el dinero cuando tengamos que hacer mantenimientos solo podremos usar fondos del Bazar. Así que por favor apoyen el evento de la semana que viene con su energía y entusiasmo. El mensaje de Jesús en el evangelio de este domingo es que si queremos seguirlo cerca debemos estar listos para dejar ir cualquier cosa que nos impiden llegar a él. Una manera de administrar los dones que tenemos, se nos pregunta que veamos a tres simples cosas, áreas prácticas Tiempo, Talento, y Tesoro. Pero nos pide que nos comprometamos a ellos desde los más fondo de nuestro ser. Solo así podemos estar verdaderamente libres para seguir a Cristo. Around the Archdiocese Maria Goretti Support Group New support Group for those afflicted with any type of abuse (Physical, sexual, emotional, spiritual or mental) will begin to meet at 7pm on the third Monday of every month in downtown Houston at the Cathedral Centre. Do you know a couple that is having a challenging situation in their relationship and need help? We may be able to coach you as a couple. We offer enrichment sessions, consulting and mentoring for married couples experiencing some crisis or challenges in their relationship.
