Suggested canned items are: vegetables, dry soups, meats, and fruits. Non-perishable items can be: peanut butter, boxed jello/puddings, boxed cereals and rice. Personal hygiene items needed are: tooth brushes, tooth paste, bathroom tissue, laundry and hand soaps. Items will be collected in the Church entrance.

Right of Christian Initiation of Adults Now that our RCIA participants have been welcomed into our Parish Community by the Rite of Welcome (Acceptance), they are now entering the next stage of RCIA; the instructional and faith formation stage. This stage always begins with Advent. This second stage of the RCIA process includes Breaking Open the Word for those participants who have not received their sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church. When you see the RCIA participants being released from Mass after the Liturgy of the Word at the Sunday Mass, these Catechumens and Candidates will go to a separate area in the Church to reflect and discuss the day s Readings and Gospel. As these participants are searching their hearts for a better and stronger faith in Jesus Christ, we ask for the continued support and prayers of our Parish Community, for the participants, their sponsors and the RCIA team. Also, should you have the opportunity to speak to one of our participants, please let them know how very welcome they are to our Community. Since the Nov. 6-7 Hard Hat Collection for the next St. Luke house, $17, 218 has been contributed. Last year at this time we had close to 600 contributors. Thus far, 340 contributors have bought sq. ft. If you missed the hard hat collection and wish to contribute, pick up an envelope in the foyer and place your contribution in the collection. Clarence Jordan, one of the founders of Habitat for Humanity said, The low income don t need charity, they need capital; so why not follow the Bible and charge no interest? And that is what Habitat for Humanity does now charges no interest on houses built. Jesus said: Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more Lk 13, 48. Please refer any questions or comments to Sue or Homer NEXT WEEK The 21 st Annual Choir Christmas Concert and Living Nativity It s a Christmas tradition here at St. Luke for the 11:30 am Sunday Mass Choir to present Christmas Carols old and new and to combine with the Living Nativity Players from the Girl Scouts and their classmates. Together they tell the story of Christmas in word and song and through portraying the journey of Mary and Joseph, the appearance of the angels and shepherds and the birth of Our Savior. The concert includes seasonal readings and stirring renditions of familiar carols and Christmas music in a variety of musical styles, including traditional and contemporary. It s going to be held on Sunday. Dec. 19 th, at 6:30 pm, in the followed by a reception at which you can enjoy home baked Christmas cookies, punch, meet and visit with the performers. There is no admission charge so bring the whole family to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. Thursday, December 16 at 10:00am and 7:00pm English & Spanish speaking priests will be available. The Young Adult ACTS Retreat is for individuals out of high of school, ages 18-26, who are interested in enhancing their relationship with the Lord as well as other young adults.
