Blessed is the elder brother who had been a good steward all along, but blessed, too, is the prodigal, who had to lose all he had in order to understand the value of what he d been given. Church Ceiling Light Covers During the renovation of our church, the ceiling light covers were replaced w/ new fixtures. These beautiful ceramic light covers had been part of our church for 20 years. Please call the Parish , ext. 110 or stop by the Parish Office. R.C.I.A. Right of Christian Initiation of Adults Today s Gospel of the Blind Man is the second of three Scrutiny Gospels. Last week, Jesus offered us Living Water that we may never be spiritually thirsty again. In today s story, we see another form of healing. The Pharisees as well as the ordinary people of that time believed that God punished sin by inflicting physical infirmities on the sinner. In these parables, we see that when Jesus absolves a sinner of his sin, it is accompanied by a physical healing so that the sinner and the witnesses might understand that his sin is forgiven. Are we like the blind man s parents? Are we afraid to acknowledge Jesus as our Savior or are we like the healed blind man and acknowledge Jesus as our Lord? Do we accept Jesus forgiveness and the gifts He offers us, or are we spiritually blind? Our Sacramental participants are searching their hearts for answers to these same questions before making their final commitment at the Easter Vigil Mass. This is an intense spiritual time for them. Please keep them in your prayers. (So that you may recognize them, you will find their pictures in the foyer of the Church.). Let them know that you are there to support them. If you are interested in the RCIA process, please call The Faith Formation Office , ext. 138 or Martin Schott Healing Hearts Bereavement Support Group The St. Luke Healing Hearts Bereavement Support Group meetings will continue to be held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month through the month of May, The next meeting for the month of March is scheduled for March 25 th from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. The room meeting has been changed to Room 210 in the Administrative Building. These are open meetings and we invite any person who has lost a loved one through disease or a limited time illness to join us as we explore ways in which to make progress in adjusting to the life without our loved one. This ministry supports the families in various ways. One of the services offered to the family is to provide food for the reception after the internment. Responsibilities will include contacting the family of the deceased, call volunteers for food donations and be responsible for set-up and clean up. Also, we are looking for volunteers who would like to donate side dishes on a rotating basis. Registration for the St. Luke Spring Financial Ministries Classes on February was very successful. The three classes to be conducted in English and the one in Spanish are filled and there is a waiting list for the three classes. The classes will run for 10 weeks with one 2 hour class each week. We hope that out of the these 4 classes there will be more individuals who will want to become facilitators and even more classes can be conducted in the future. When the next round of classes is conducted, attempts will be made to register those on the waiting list first. Prayers are requested for those taking the CFM classes. We pray their sincere efforts to learn God s biblical principles for getting out of debt, saving, giving, investing, and spending will be beneficial to them.
