4 Nov. 12, 2017 Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time Page Rector s Corner Cathedral Preservation Society Appeal Our Cathedral Preservation Society Appeal has once again met with great success. Thanks to our generous benefactors, businesses and parishioners we have thus far raised approximately $130,000 through the Appeal. On Saturday evening of last week, those who had donated $500 or more were invited to a dinner at the Savannah Golf Club. Bishop Hartmayer was present and thanked everyone who has given to the appeal, including all those who did not attend the dinner. Every donation, no matter what amount, is appreciated. The Cathedral Heritage Foundation, begun in the year 2000, now contains approximately $2,100,000. This amount will continue to grow over the years and will provide a source funding for the maintenance and preservation of our beautiful Cathedral. If you have not yet considered it, please remember the Cathedral Heritage Foundation when doing your estate planning and making out your will. That would be a wonderful way to provide for future generations of Catholics to worship God in this great Cathedral. If you have not yet made your donation to the Cathedral Preservation Society, there is still plenty of time. Any gift, any amount will be greatly appreciated! My sincere thanks to the members of the Cathedral Preservation Society Board who once again worked so hard to make this appeal a success. Our readings focus more on the endtimes, and we set aside this month of November as a time to remember our beloved dead. As we gather today to contemplate these things, let us pray that by our attitudes and actions, we will eagerly welcome the arrival of the Lord in our everyday lives and wisely prepare for his coming at the end of time. We are looking for 12 able bodied men and women to assist with the movement of the scaffolding and 4 x 4 pieces of decking that provide the base for the crèche that is constructed in the Mary Altar. On December 9th, we will transport these materials form our downstairs storage up into the Cathedral. This is an all day job! Advent Retreat Hosted by St. Michael s Women s Club on Sat., Dec. 2nd at All Saints Episcopal Church meeting room, 804 Jones Ave. (parking on 2 nd St.). Gather at 9:00 AM, retreat starts at 9:30 AM and closing prayer is at Noon. Join us for this mini-retreat of silent reflection as you prepare your Christmas cards or other quiet crafts (sewing, knitting, crochet, etc.). BC Open House this Sunday Held this Sunday, November 12th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, the Open House is the kick-off to the admissions process.
