4 F OURTH SUNDAY OF LENT M ARCH 15, 2015 CHRISM MASS-2015 Chrism Mass Tuesday, March 31, :00 pm Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart 1701 San Jacinto Street, Houston, The Chrism Mass is a yearly liturgy concelebrated by a bishop and the priests of his (arch) diocese, during which the bishop blesses oils for sacramental use throughout the diocese for the coming year. It is during this Mass that the holy oils used in Baptism, Confirmation, the Ordination of priests and bishops and the Anointing of the Sick are blessed. Approximately 50 gallons of oil are blessed with the consecrated chrism. OR, SAID ANOTHER WAY, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. (GALATIANS 5:14). MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT PHILANTHROPY IS SYNONYMOUS WITH GIVING OR RECEIVING MONEY; BUT, IN ITS PUREST SENSE, PHILANTHROPY IS ABOUT GIVING OF ONESELF FOR THE COMMON GOOD. TO BENEFIT AN ORGANIZATION OR INSTITUTION, THIS CAN MEAN GIVING OUR TIME AS A VOLUNTEER; SHARING OUR SKILLS, OUR WISDOM AND OUR EXPERTISE; AND GIVING MONETARY GIFTS WITHIN OUR MEANS TO SUPPORT AND PROMOTE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES.
