The Food Pantry is always in need of the following non-perishable food items: canned meat, tuna, canned vegetables, rice, any type of pasta, pasta sauce, soup, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, or if your prefer you can make a monetary gift. You may bring your donation to Mass each week or bring it directly to the Parish Office during the week. Thank you! If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one. Mother Teresa The of the 2016 Diocesan Services appeal is We Are Called. This gives each of us a wonderful opportunity to give thanks in a material way for the many blessings God has bestowed on us. STATIONS OF THE CROSS EACH FRIDAY OF LENT FEB. 12-MAR. 18 5:30PM ENGLISH 7:30PM SPANISH (Banquet Room) 8:00PM CREOLE FISH FRY - SAVE THE DATES (after the 5:30 Stations) Feb. 26th, Mar. 11th WHAT IS THE CHURCH'S OFFICIAL POSITION CON- CERNING PENANCE AND ABSTINENCE FROM MEAT In 1966 Pope Paul VI reorganized the Church's practice of public penance in his "Apostolic Constitution on Penance" (Poenitemini). The 1983 revision of the Code of Canon Law incorporated the changes made by Pope Paul. Not long after that, the U.S. bishops applied the canonical requirements to the practice of public penance in our country. To sum up those requirements, Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all the Fridays of Lent. Fasting as explained by the U.S. bishops means partaking of only one full meal. Some food (not equaling another full meal) is permitted at breakfast and around midday or in the evening depending on when a person chooses to eat the main or full meal. Abstinence forbids the use of meat, but not of eggs, milk products or condiments made of animal fat. EXEMPTIONS FROM THE LENTEN FAST Besides those outside the age limits, those of unsound mind, the sick, the frail, pregnant or nursing women according to need for meat or nourishment, manual laborers according to need, guests at a meal who cannot excuse themselves without giving great offense or causing enmity and other situations of moral or physical impossibility to observe the penitential discipline. SCHOOL AND PARISH AUCTION NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM Cocktail Hour, Silent & Live Auctions, Dinner & Dancing All are invited to the 30th Annual Auction for the Angels on Saturday. February. 27, 2016, 6:30-10:30pm at the Norton Museum of Art, 1451 S. Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach. All proceeds benefit St. Ann Catholic School. Kindly RSVP by February 19th. Raffle ticket will be available for purchase after all weekend Masses or you may contact the school at for tickets of sponsorship. ADULT FAITH MINISTRY Program for Lent Lenten Nourishment Wednesdays: Feb. 17 through Mar. 16, 12:30-12:55pm Join us for a light lunch and spiritual talk on the patio next to church. We continue with the theme of mercy during the Year of Mercy. The Parables of Mercy Mondays: Feb. 22 through Mar. 15, 7-8:00pm Be merciful as the Father is merciful! How can we do that? By spending some time examining the parables of mercy in the Gospels, like the sinful woman, the Good Samaritan, and the Prodigal Son. We can find ways that Jesus calls us to share the mercy of God with the people we encounter in our daily lives. The sessions will include discussion and prayer time. Sessions held in the conference Room in parking garage. Scripture Study: The book of Revelation-Tuesdays, Feb. 23 through Mar. 8, 7-8:30pm Many people enjoyed Fr. Bill Burton s introduction to sacred scripture last fall. During Lent we will be using Fr. Bill s excellent DVD to uncover the complex themes of the fascinating and often confusing book of the bible, and discover what it really is calling us to live today in the 21st century. Sessions will include time for questions and discussion, Sessions held in the Ministry Room. Please sign up for any of the above programs by calling or billpat@aol.com. ST. MARTIN MISSION The progress on the rebuilding of St. Martin is coming along nicely. Please see the photos of the progress on the poster at the entrance of the church. However, our commitment to St. Martin continues: we are committed to pay for teachers at the school on an ongoing basis, as well as general maintenance at the facility. We ask that you pray about how you may be able to help with this ongoing endeavor. In the words of Mother Theresa, We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.
