Lumen Christi Missals As mentioned several weeks ago, I would like to purchase the permanent missal Lumen Christi to be used at Mass. My goal was to have them by Ash Wednesday. Unfortunately due to their popularity, the publishing company does not have any in stock at this time. They re in the process of printing more of them but are also backlogged on orders for other parishes. They will contact me in the Spring to place our order which should be complete sometime in the Fall. In the interim, we ll continue using the Seasonal Worship missal until our order is complete. A baptized Catholic, have been Confirmed and received First Holy Communion, years of age or older (Archdiocese of N Y only), 3. Attend to Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation, 4. Attend to Catholic duty by participating in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and receive the Eucharist at least once a year during the Easter season, 5. Religious Education New phone number for the Religious Ed Program is Helping our Neighbors the boxes for food will remain in both Duff Hall and the Moriarty Center. In addition to food, we will also be collecting personal care products that will be distributed to both the Resource Center and the Center of Compassion. Camp Veritas ( is a one week sleep away pilgrimage experience for teens going into 7th grade through 12th grade. The daily spiritual activities include the Mass, scriptural Rosary, Adoration, confessions, education, and personal testimonies. The Camp Lakota facility (located in Wurtsboro, NY) is situated on 200 beautiful acres of land with access to the magnificent spring-fed Masten Lake which facilitates an array of water activities. The camp has a heated swimming pool, sporting fields, a beach volleyball court, basketball courts, go-carts, a climbing wall, a roller hockey rink, and a ropes challenge course. The camp is organized exclusively for the purpose of inspiring and forming young Catholic teens into disciples of Jesus Christ. Camp Veritas is faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Catechism and to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. The St. John s Council of the Knights of Columbus is sponsoring 6 scholarships at Camp Lakota for the week of August 12-18, If you are interested in being considered for a scholarship, please speak to Father Palatucci. ASH WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY GOOD are days of Fasting and Abstinence. FRIDAYS in Lent are days of Abstinence Easter Duty Catholics are obliged to receive Holy Communion at least once during the Easter Season (from Ash Wednesday to Trinity Sunday). Anyone who has committed a mortal sin is also obliged to go to Confession prior to receiving Communion. Lenten Practices There is a tradition that we do something different during Lent. The tradition suggests that this be something in addition to what we ordinarily do. Some common practices are going to daily Mass during Lent (or at least one extra day a week), going to Confession, participating in the Holy Week liturgies or some form of almsgiving (such as the mite can which can be used to collect any monies saved by fasting and donated to the poor at the end of Lent).
