3 ST. MARY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION WOOSTER, OH Dear Parishioners: Who in my life struggles to believe in the New Life of Resurrection? I acknowledge that this is a fairly heavy question to consider on Easter Sunday; however, if this great solemnity is to be more than a passing observance if it is to have an impact on the days that proceed this First Day of Easter (the season lasts fifty days) then I put before us that it is a question that merits our reflection. For the record: from my vantage point, the answer may legitimately be I, myself, am most struggling! We are vividly aware of ongoing violence and pain in the world. Children gasping for life breath, worshippers dispersed by explosions in a church, families separated through deportation these are but a few examples of the destructive forces at work in the world. Yet, as Christians we are compelled to embrace the message of Victory that Jesus has accomplished. To quote a resource: Like Mary of Magdala, we run to the Lord and then cry out in confusion when we don t find him where he is supposed to be, when we don t hear his answer to our prayers...today, on Easter, we rejoice in Christ s victory over the cross and joyfully embrace the unearned gift of Jesus resurrection and our salvation, letting our confusion and doubt slip below the surface as the waters of new life wash over us (Mary DeTurris Poust, quoted in Give Us This Day, Volume 7, Issue 4, p. 259) It is with great joy that we welcome nineteen new members of the Catholic Christian Community here at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception: Roseanne Anfang Adam Arditi Deborah Arditi Christofer Bell Shalyn Bell Patience Bell Christofer Bell Jr. Cherish Bell Nylahs Bell Brian Boyer Bryant Chambers Kelley Connock Olivia Connock Meagan Kemmerer Mark Miyashita Scott Sprunger Chad Wilcox Michael Wilhelm Raymond Wilhelm For all of those who are celebrating with us this weekend, whom perhaps we have missed and have been neglectful, we pray that the reconciling love of God will be at work, so that we can be more attentive to your needs, moving forward. Specifically, on Easter Monday evening, April 17m beginning at 7 p.m., the first session of a new cycle of Catholics Returning Home begins in the Parish Hall. This is intended to be a forum for listening to one another s stories and experiences. We know that the eleven disciples were gathered together in the upper room, when Jesus appeared to them in His risen body. While they were afraid and confused, they still united. In that spirit, it is the hope of the CRH team that we can be a support to all those who desire to reconnect in the practice of the Catholic Faith, but who simply may not know where to begin. Please consider joining us! Also, already in the next two weekends, we will celebrate the Sacrament of First Holy Communion with children from the parish. Their names are also listed in this edition of the bulletin. Please keep them and their families active in prayer. On behalf of Fr. Joe and the entire pastoral staff of Saint Mary, a very blessed Easter to you and your families!
