2 Easter Sunday March 27, 2016 Dear Friends, Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord! Alleluia! Alleluia! These words are sung once again for the first time since Lent began and our hearts and spirits soar as we enter into the song, Alleluia, Alleluia! Let the holy anthem rise, our traditional closing hymn for Easter Sunday! The whole Easter Season, the next 50 Days OPENS with this grand celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord. Our morning celebrations on this Easter Day view the new Easter Candle (aka The Paschal Candle) lit and placed at the Ambo. The Paschal Candle was lit for the very first time at the Easter Vigil and serves to remind us of the abiding presence of Christ the Light, who dispels all fear and brightens our way. The Easter Gospel this morning recounts the discovery of the empty tomb by Mary Magdalene, who runs to Peter and John to verify to her announcement. She testifies, as do Peter and John and we become engaged in witnessing to the power and presence of the Savior. On this Day, we renew our Baptismal Promises as we proclaim, I do to the questions, Do you believe in God? DO you believe in Jesus Christ? Do you believe in the Holy Spirit? Sprinkled with the new Easter Water we become new again and called to live our new faith in Christ. The refrain from today s Presentation hymn reminds us, Love is alive, conquered the grave and defeated the night, alleluia! What we celebrate is the Resurrection of the Lord and the renewal of our minds and spirits. So we need to sing as one, Love is alive! Now we just have to live it! As in every Eucharistic Celebration we are welcomed at the Table of the Lord and eat and drink of the Lord s Body and Blood. We sing these familiar words, Precious body, precious blood, here in bread and wine; here the Lord prepares the feast divine! Having dined at this Table of the Lord, we are sent to feast with one another at all kinds of tables and to remember that as we have been fed, so must be in turn feed one another. Jesus gave us the example to serve one another, so we must go and do the same! Easter is a wonderful time and I am grateful to you who have gathered around this Table and in this Holy Church to be one in body, mind and spirit! Thank you for your commitment to Christ and the witness to faith, hope and charity in the world! Sing as you go home, Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia, and let the world know Christ makes a difference in your lives! Alleluia! So many thanks to those who have done SO VERY MUCH in the preparation and the celebration of each of the Holy Week celebrations. Music and song, proclamation and preparation, serving and leading, welcoming and organizing, setting up and taking down, potting and planting, carrying and hanging, moving and watering, typing and design, collating and sending, you name it, it has been done and was done graciously and generously FOR us! Thank you very much! May these many days be rich with blessing and wonder! I want to express that I am so very thankful for your generosity and support of ALL the Ministries and Services of the Church and School, through your generous financial support and collections. I pray that each and every one of you be blessed in the new life of Christ this Holy Easter! Father John

4 Mother Teresa He has risen Alleluja! May the joy of the risen Jesus Christ be with you. To bring joy into our very soul the good God has given Himself to us. In Bethlehem, joy said the angel. In His life, He wanted to share His joy with His apostles that My joy may be in you. Joy was the password of the first Christians. Saint Paul how often he repeated himself: Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, rejoice (Phil 4:4). In return for the great grace of baptism the priest tells the newly baptized: May you serve the Church joyfully. Joy is not simply a matter of temperament in the service of God and souls. It is always hard all the more reason why we should try to acquire it and make it grow in our hearts. Excerpted from: Life in the Spirit, 68. (1983) Family Perspectives Wrapped in grief, the family of Jesus went to the tomb to anoint His body. They saw only death until two strangers announced His resurrection. Like the strangers, we are called to be Alleluia people who affirm life to others. The resurrection bids us to bring light to darkness, hope to the despairing and comfort to the sorrowful. Alleluia! He is risen! It is so encouraging to see the enthusiasm from the members as they see their projects come to completion. On this Easter Sunday, we would like to share a special Easter poem and wish all of you a Blessed Easter! Mr. Andy Carner, Principal, and the Faculty & Staff of St. Mary s School. Easter Joy Jesus came to earth, To show us how to live, How to put others first, How to love and how to give. Then He set about His work, That God sent Him to do; He took our punishment on Himself; He made us clean and new. He could have saved Himself, Calling angels from above, But He chose to pay our price for sin; He paid it out of love. Our Lord died on Good Friday, But the cross did not destroy His resurrection on Easter morn That fills our hearts with joy. Now we know our earthly death, Like His, is just a rest. We ll be forever with Him In heaven, where life is best. So we live our lives for Jesus, Think of Him in all we do. Thank you Savior; Thank you Lord. Help us love like you! By: Joanna Fuchs
