Today s first reading dramatizes these lessons. Given the opportunity to kill Saul, David spares his life even though Saul had tried to kill him when he had the chance. The Lord is kind and merciful, we sing in the psalm. We are called to be as well. The classes run from September through May. A new registration form MUST be completed for all present students as well as new students to attend our program. Parents must bring the following documents when registering: - Baptism Certificate; - Birth Certificate if child/ren is not baptized; - If a child attended Religious Education classes at another parish a transfer letter is required. PARISH BAPTISM TEAM Are you interested in assisting our Parish Baptism Team. We are looking for men and women who would like to assist in preparing parents and godparents during the preparation course. They assist the clergy in answering questions at the Pre-Baptism Meetings. Baptism preparation classes are held on the second Wednesday of the month in English and on the third Wednesday of the month in Spanish. ASH WEDNESDAY, March 6, 2018 Mass Schedule 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. & 7:00 p.m. (English Masses) Word Service 3:30 p.m. 8:00 p.m. (Spanish Mass/ Español) Ashes will be distributed DURING not after the Masses and Word Service. LENTEN REGULATIONS In order to help us take part more fully in the season of Lent, the Church as established the following as minimal requirements for us: ABSTINENCE - Everyone 14 years of ago or over is bound to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent. FASTING All the faithful between the ages of 18 and 59 inclusive are bound to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. This practice involves limiting oneself to a single full meal and avoiding food between meals. Light sustenance may also be taken on two other occasions during the day. EASTER DUTY - After they have been initiated into the Most Holy Eucharist, all the faithful are bound by the obligation of receiving Holy Communion at least once a year. This precept must be fulfilled during the Easter season, unless for a good reason it is fulfilled at another time of the year. By special indult, in the United States, the time period for fulfilling this precept has been extended to include the period beginning the First Sunday of Lent (March 10) to the celebration of Pentecost (June 9).
