2 Altar Flowers The flowers on the altar are given to the glory of God by Dave and Kurri Cecchini in memory of Dave s sister and Doris Cecchini s daughter, Joan Cecchini Anzalone, on her birthday, March 14. The Bitter Drink of Vinegar Lent at MPLC Midweek Lenten Worship Services Wednesdays: March 15, 22, 29, and April 5 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Come and listen as five of our members share their faith stories with us during our midweek worship services. This Wednesday, March 15, we will hear from Carol Hogue. Lenten Potlucks Wednesdays: March 15, 22, 29, April 5, at 5:30 p.m. Potlucks will precede each of the evening Lenten services. The main dish will be provided by the church, and you can provide the rest (salad, rolls, casserole, dessert, etc.). Plates, bowls, silverware, and beverages will be provided. This week s main dish will be Pasta Bake! All are welcome! 95 Ways I'm Living Lutheran In the spirit of Luther's 95 Thesis, we have posted large scrolls on the doors to our sanctuary. You are all invited to share ways you are "Living Lutheran" in your daily lives. This project will encourage people of all ages to consider how we are living our faith and will inspire others to "live Lutheran" this Lent and beyond! Lenten Offerings for Lutheran World Relief This year s Lenten midweek offerings will go to Lutheran World Relief. The ministry of LWR is vast and spreads around the world. Their mission is to eradicate poverty with local, sustainable solutions. Please give generously to this great organization. See more at LWR.org

A Service of Healing Thursday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. If you are suffering in mind, body or spirit, or if a loved one s suffering is on you heart, consider attending our healing service. This calm and quiet service includes beautiful music, candles and provides an opportunity for prayer, scripture and anointing for the person attending or on behalf of another. The service is held once, every other month. Please note the later start time than our traditional healing service has been in the past. German Dinner & Luther Movie Fundraiser All are invited to a German Dinner and Luther Movie on Friday, March 31. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m. with a movie to follow at 7:00 p.m. The movie is Rick Steves Luther and The Reformation. Freewill Donations will benefit 23 of our High School youth going on a Mission Trip to the Adirondack Mountains this July. The menu will include; brats, hot dogs, German potato salad, schnitzel, applesauce, sauerkraut, rye bread, and various deserts. German-themed raffle baskets will be available starting March 19 at worship services in the narthex. Raffle Tickets: $1 per ticket, $5 for 6 tickets, $20 for 30 tickets. Raffle winners will be called at 6:50 p.m. on March 31. You do not need to be present to win. About the Movie: Rick Steves is a famous travel TV host best known for his European travel shows on PBS. A Lutheran himself, he wanted to create a 1-hour documentary about Martin Luther and the Reformation in celebration of the 500 th anniversary of the Reformation in He brings interesting history with a twist of his wit to the program. It is suitable for all ages. It s a great way to learn more about our Lutheran heritage!

5 Muslim / Christian Interfaith Dialog Lunch We will have a Muslim/Christian Interfaith Dialog session on Saturday, March 18 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. MPLC high school youth are invited to have lunch and discussion with the youth group from American Albanian Islamic Center. Meet in fellowship hall at MPLC. See Pastor Krista with questions. Sign up in the narthex. High School Mission Trip - Next Group Builder The next group builder is Sunday, March 19 from noon-2:00 p.m. Everyone going on the trip is expected to be there! VBS save the date! Monday Friday, August 7-11, :00 a.m. Noon For ages 3 yr old 6 th grade as of September 1 MPLC SCRIP make mission happen! As Pastor Dave likes to say You re going to spend the money anyway: Make Mission Happen! Spring Break, Spring Cleaning, Spring Fashion Scrip has you covered! Ace Hardware, Bed Bath & Beyond, CVS, The Container Store, The Home Depot, Kohl's, Lowe's, Macy's, Marshalls, Menards, Old Navy, T. J Maxx, Target, Walgreens, Wal-Mart.and the list goes on! Stop by the Scrip table in the narthex and place your order. Orders placed on Sunday will be available for pick up the following Sunday. We also have a nice selection of gift cards on hand. Each purchase directly helps mission work here at MPLC. Stop by the SCRIP table today and Make Mission Happen! Mittens & More ATTENTION! If you know of children who could benefit from items on our mitten tree, please feel free to take and share them! There are hats, mittens and scarves both knitted/crocheted and made from fleece. Hunger Never Takes a Vacation The Food pantry at Holy Communion Lutheran Church is asking for the following items for next two weeks. Thank you for your support! March 19 - canned pasta with meat, egg noodles March 26 - bar soap, toilet paper Quilter s Corner We have made 67 quilts so far this year for all the people Lutheran World Relief helps to warm or brighten their day!
