Sharon volunteers and is on the board of ACCESS and Louisiana Right to Life. She was presented the award at the Catholic Foundation s Annual Dinner. The Saint John Paul II Award is given to a deserving person who has significant volunteer service to Catholic institutions in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and has high moral character. 5 FIRST FRIDAY SACRED HEART DEVOTIONS On November 3, we will have a Holy Hour in church immediately following the 8:15 AM Mass. This holy hour will conclude with Benediction by 9:45 AM. The Adoration Chapel will be closed during this hour. FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS November 4 Our Lady of Fatima asked that the faithful dedicate the first Saturdays of five consecutive months in reparation for sin by going to confession, receiving Holy Communion, praying five decades of the Holy Rosary, and meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary for at least 15 minutes. This has become known as the First Saturday Devotions. We will celebrate these devotions on the first Saturday of each month by offering our regularly scheduled morning Rosary and Mass in atonement for sin and for the conversion of the United States. I, Deacon David E. Caldero, in obedience to my recent assignment to the two parishes of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Hahnville and Divine Mercy in Kenner will depart St. Clement of Rome to humbly serve where God is calling me. I served 8 years, from July 2009 to October 2017, at St. Clement of Rome, faithfully serving in the ministry of the Word, the ministry of Liturgy and the ministry of Charity. I will always cherish the blessings of being allowed to assist in the preparation and celebration of the Baptisms of children, the Confirmation of high school students, being a witness to the consent and exchange of vows in sacramental Marriage, and performing funeral services and rites of committal of deceased parishioners. Thank you for allowing me to participate in the Spanish Holy Hour, the Way of the Cross and around the neighborhood, the Last Seven Words of Jesus, the bilingual services during Thanksgiving and the Passion of Christ. I am thankful for the reverence and respect to the real presence of Christ in the liturgy of the Word and the liturgy of the Eucharist in weekly and Sunday Masses. I even dared to sing at Mass thanks to the awesome choirs we have at St. Clement. Thank you, Louis Hackett, for teaching me how to sing the Exsultet. Thanks to the Spanish Choir. We are blessed to have holy priests that have dedicated their lives to the celebration of the liturgies of sacraments for the salvation of our people. Thank you, Fr. Luis, Fr. Nile, Fr. Peter, Fr. Matthew and Fr. David. Thank you to our permanent deacons for their unselfish commitment and participation in St. Clement of Rome. Mateo 22:37 TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Cuando era niño tuve problemas con inaguantables dolores de cabeza. Después de casi tres meses batallando con esta enfermedad una señora me regaló una estampita de san Martín de Porres que contenía un pedacito de su hábito. Dormí con esta estampita debajo de mi almohada y al tercer día sané de mi dolor. Fue así como conocí por primera vez a este santo negrito y a sus animalitos. Martín fue un religioso dominico de nacionalidad peruana que vivió de 1579 a 1639 y fue canonizado en Sin lugar a dudas, es uno de los santos más populares de América Latina. En él encontramos una persona con la cual nos podemos identificar ya que muchas veces a nosotros nos limitan las oportunidades debido a nuestro origen y el color de nuestra piel. Por su origen (era hijo de un español y de una africana) ilegítimo y su color mulato, Martín tuvo problemas para ingresar a la Orden de los Predicadores. Eventualmente la santidad de sus obras y la fama de sus milagros le abrieron camino para incorporarse plenamente a los dominicos.
