Those who built this place and care for it now love tradition and feel passionate about engaging with what is new. If you look closely you will find images of scientists, reformers, Jewish rabbis and Roman Catholic popes, political leaders, saints, and even an astronaut. We invite you to be part of this oyful community even if your visit is short. You might ask yourself two questions: What do I need to receive? What do I have to give? 2 The Most Venerable Order of Hospital of St John of Jerusalem is a Christian Order tracing its beginning to a hospital founded about 1080 by brors of Benedictine Monastery of Saint Mary Latina. During its existence in Jerusalem, Order provided hospitality and medical care to visitors and pilgrims and was already in operation when First Crusade captured Jerusalem in Today Order of St John has a global membership of approximately 400,000 in 39 countries and has diversified to meet local community needs around world. In 1957, a group of American citizens, whose close British ties over years had acquainted m with work of Order of St John, expressed a desire to have a more active role in Order. In 1957, The American Society of Most Venerable Order of Hospital of St John of Jerusalem was legally incorporated in State of New York. This subsequently became The Priory, which is now headquartered in Washington, DC. The maor work of Priory in USA is to raise funds in support of St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group and its outreach programs. Since its founding in 1882 St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital group has treated all those who come to it, without regard to race, nationality, religion or ability to pay. The Hospital was established to meet needs of a population where eye disease and traumatic inuries are rife and effective treatment hard to obtain. The Order of St John is and has always been apolitical, but its work furrs cause of peace in Middle East. In a land where ethnic and religious divisions still festers and situation changes daily, The St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital has made real ideal of peoples united, not divided, by ir faiths. Inspired by Christian ideals, hospital treats mostly Muslim patients with help of many Jewish physicians. The St. John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital group provides highest quality ophthalmic care to people of East Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza Strip, irrespective of race, gender, creed, or ability to pay. Expanding its work can only bring peoples of Holy Land, and of world, into closer harmony. Jerusalem Eye Hospital OStJ Volunteer Corps with veterans Similarly Order tries to bring harmony into lives of our veterans thorough is Volunteer Corps. In 2013 San Francisco members launched a pilot program of volunteer services with VA, which has subsequently be introduced nationwide. The white eight-pointed Cross of Order of St John has symbolized commitment, and compassionate and practical care in service to mankind throughout world. This cross, worn on badges and decorations by Order Members, is evidence of ir profession to service based on Christian ideals. Its white color represents purity. Its four arms symbolize virtues of: Prudence: Carefulness and forethought; Justice: Fairness and equality; Temperance: Moderation in all things; and Fortitude: Courage and endurance.

7 The Readings Genesis 9:8-17 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, As for me, I am establishing my covenant with you and your descendants after you, and with every living creature that is with you, birds, domestic animals, and every animal of earth with you, as many as came out of ark. I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by waters of a flood, and never again shall re be a flood to destroy earth. God said, This is sign of covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in clouds, and it shall be a sign of covenant between me and earth. When I bring clouds over earth and bow is seen in clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.
