4 ANNOUNCEMENTS Welcome to all our parishioners and guests. Please join us downstairs after Divine Liturgy for coffee, sweets, & fellowship. SUNDAY OF ORTHODOXY is today. On this Sunday, the 1 st Sunday of the Great Fast, we commemorate the triumph of the holy icons and the end of the iconoclastic controversy which took place in 843. On this Sunday, it is traditional to have a procession with icons around the Church and to bless icons. We will bless all icons that you have brought. LENTEN SERVICES during the Great Fast will be on Tuesday & Thursday mornings and on Wednesday & Friday evenings. All services will be bilingual, and all are welcome to join us in prayer. On Tuesday mornings, at 8:30am, we will serve Lenten Matins. On Wednesday evenings, at 5:00pm, we will serve the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts. On Thursday mornings, at 8:30am, we will serve Lenten Matins. On Friday evenings at 6:00pm, we will serve one of a number of Lenten Services, depending on the week. NEW ALTAR TABLE has arrived and has been placed in the Sanctuary. In due time, it will be properly consecrated. We do need to purchase some new Altar vestments as our old vestments need to be replaced. We welcome any and all donations towards the purchase of vestments for our Altar table. A whole set of Altar vestments costs $1,350. ОГОЛОШЕННЯ Вітаємо всіх парафіян і гостей. Після Служби Божої, прошу зійти до залі на каву, солодке, і товариство. НЕДІЛЯ ПРАВОСЛАВІЯ сьогодні. Ми посвятимо всі ікони які ви принесли з дома. ВЕЛИКОПОСНІ ВІДПРАВИ під час Посту будуть в вівторок і четвер рано та в середу і п'ятницю вечір. Всі богослужіння будуть двомовними, і всіх ласкаво просимо долучитися до молитви. В вівторок рано, об 8:30, ми будемо служити Великопосну Утреню. В середу вечір, об 5-і годині, ми будемо служити Літургію Ранішосвячених Дарів. В четвер рано, об 8:30, ми будемо служити Великопосну Утреню. В п'ятницю вечір, об 6-і годині, ми будемо служити різні відправи залежно від тижня. НОВИЙ ВІВТАР вже прибув і є вставлений в Святилищі. Незадовго, вівтар буде належно посвячений. Нам потрібно придбати нові ризи на Вівтар бо старих риз треба замінити. Ми вітаємо всі пожертви до придбання нових риз для нового Вівтаря. Один цілий комплект риз коштує $1,350.

6 ANNUAL LENTEN FISH DINNER: Thank you to everyone who made this event a success: those who purchased, cooked, setup, served, and most importantly, cleaned up. 7 EXCERPTS FROM THE CATECHISM OF THE U.G.C.C. ON THE HOLY SCRIPTURES 41: The fullness of God s Revelation is Jesus Christ, the God-man, in whom along with a human nature the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily (Col 2:9). As the divine and human natures are united inseparably in Christ, so in the Holy Scriptures the divine Word of God is transmitted to us by human language. God s words, expressed in human words, adapted themselves to human language, just as the Word of the eternal Father, when he took upon himself the flesh of human weakness, lived just like a human being. The Word of God permeates all of Holy Scripture. That one Word resounds from the mouths of all the holy sacred ministers; that Word which was with God from the beginning does not require syllables because that Word is not dependent upon time. 42: In reading and interpreting Holy Scripture, the Church always takes into account two important dimensions: the divine and the human. Neglect of the human dimension in Holy Scripture leads to literalism, where human forms of transmitting the Word of God are given a divine character. On the other hand, rejection of the divine dimension reduces Holy Scripture to a mere historical-literary work. УРИВКИ З КАТЕХИЗМУ У.Г.К.Ц. ПРО СВЯТЕ ПИСЬМО 41: Повнотою Божого Об явлення є Ісус Христос, Богочоловік, у якому «враз із людською природою живе вся повнота Божества» (Кл. 2, 9). Подібно як у Христі нерозривно поєднані Божа і людська природи, так у Святому Письмі Боже Слово передається нам людською мовою. Божі слова, висловлені людськими словами, уподібнилися до людської мови так, як колись Слово предвічного Отця, прийнявши тіло людського безсилля, стало подібне до людей. «Слово Боже пронизує все Святе Письмо. Те одне Слово лунає з уст усіх святих священнослужителів; те Слово, яке споконвіку було Богом, не потребує складів, бо Воно не залежить від часу». 42: У читанні й тлумаченні Святого Письма Церква завжди враховує два виміри: божественний і людський. Нехтування людським виміром Святого Письма веде до буквалізму коли людським формам передачі Божого Слова надається божественного характеру; заперечення ж божественного виміру зводить Святе Письмо лише до історичнолітературного твору.
