Built on these roots, and in order to see the world as God sees it, we commit ourselves to: being a welcoming sanctuary and a place of prayer and worship, nurturing, assisting, encouraging and serving all those in need, offering all generations opportunities for personal and communal growth, and, by these commitments, to honor our call to evangelization. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION On the First Friday of each month we gather in prayer and praise before the Blessed Sacrament. Following the 8 a.m. Mass and concluding at 10 p.m. SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Parents of infants requesting information about Baptism may contact the parish office. Infant baptisms are celebrated on the second Saturday of the month. CELEBRATION OF CHRISTIAN FUNERALS At the time of death, a family member should contact the parish office, as soon as possible, to arrange the date and time for the Funeral Liturgy. SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY Couples must begin preparation for their Sacrament at least six months prior to their proposed wedding date. Please call the parish office for more information. SACRAMENT OF THE SICK The third Saturday of each month after the 8:00 a.m. Mass. In the event of serious illness or medical emergency, Anointing of the Sick and Eucharist may be arranged by contacting the parish office CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS Adults requesting information about full initiation and communion with the Roman Catholic Church (the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation) may contact the office for more info. If you would like your deceased loved ones included in this novena, please pick up an envelope from the back of the church, list name(s) of your deceased loved ones in the space provided and turn the envelope into the parish office or drop it in the collection basket at Mass. An at will donation is appreciated. LITURGY SCHEDULE FOR ALL SAINTS DAY SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2014 All Saints Day will be celebrated at 8:00 a.m. Mass, Saturday, November 1st. Solemnity of All Saints is celebrated on November 1st and is a holy day of obligation, HOWEVER, when November 1st falls on a Saturday or a Monday, that obligation is abrogated. Praying for the dead is a spiritual act of mercy. Offering special prayers for the dead is a beautiful way to love and honor those who have passed through life before us. For any one who has lost a family member or close friend and would like to remember them, you are invited to present a flower in their name. We will celebrate our All Souls Memorial on Sunday, November 2 with a Mass of Remembrance at 11:00 a.m. IMPORTANT: Please Susan Daley at susan@stcathlagunabeach.org with your loved one s name as well as your contact information by Monday, October 27th. That s what Isaiah tells us today. God is putting together a huge party for all peoples, to wipe away / the tears from every face (Isaiah 25:8). And what does Jesus tell us? The reign of God, he says, may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son (Matthew 22:2). When the guests didn t come, the king had his servants go out into the main roads and invite to the feast whomever you find (Matthew 22:9). We are called to deliver that invitation. One of the themes woven into today s liturgy is that of divine generosity. Asleep to reality, people often think they have earned what they have. In our better moments, though, we know that all our gifts even the spiritual gifts come through God s generosity. Our vocation is to invite people, to remind them the tickets aren t for sale. Esto es lo que Isaías nos dice hoy. Dios está organizando una inmensa fiesta para todos los pueblos, para enjugar las lágrimas de todos los rostros. Y qué es lo que Jesús nos dice? El reino de Dios, él dice, es como lo que le sucedió a un rey que celebró las bodas de su hijo (Mateo 22:2). Cuando los invitados no acudieron, el rey mandó a sus sirvientes a que fueran a las esquinas de las calles y conviden a la boda a todos los que encuentren (Mateo 22:9). Nosotros somos llamados a distribuir esta invitación. Uno de los temas entrelazado con la liturgia de hoy es el referente a la generosidad divina. Ausente de la realidad, la gente a menudo asume que ha ganado lo que tiene. En nuestros mejores momentos, sin embargo, somos conscientes de que todos nuestros dones, incluyendo los espirituales, provienen de la generosidad de Dios. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE La Virgen María tiene siglos de estar apareciéndose a los cristianos. Aún antes de que fuese asunta al cielo, ella ya se le había aparecido al apóstol Santiago en Zaragoza, España. Según una antigua leyenda, Santiago llegó a tierra española en el año 40 para predicar el Evangelio. Tuvo poco éxito y desanimado pensaba sacudirse de los pies el polvo de aquella tierra y buscar convertir otras gentes. Mientras estaba en oración, María, la madre de Jesús, se le apareció con palabras de consuelo, ánimo y un pequeño obsequio. Le dio una imagen de ella misma sobre un pilar y con el Niño Jesús en brazos. En esa tierra ella pidió la construcción de un templo donde ella misma sería altar para la gloria de Dios. Santiago mismo construyó la primera iglesia donde hoy se encuentra una gran basílica en honor de Nuestra Señora del Pilar. En el siglo XVIII, el Papa Clemente XII declaró el 12 de octubre como su fiesta en memoria de la llegada de los europeos al continente americano. De María vienen los principios del Día de la Raza. Clases de preparación: Las clases son impartidas el segundo domingo de cada mes en cuarto B a las 11:00 en la parroquia de Santa Catalina con cita. La aplicación Bautismal debe ser completada antes de la clase. Quién debe atender la clase? Los padres y padrinos deben atender una clase de bautismo. Donde debería realizarse el Bautismo: El lugar más apropiado para bautizar a un niño es en la Iglesia de la parroquia donde los padres atienden Misa y son registrados. Bautismos: Nuestros bautismos de infantes son programados mensualmente el tercer sábado de cada mes a las 10:00 en la iglesia de St. Catalina de Siena. Los padres deben ser miembros de la parroquia de Santa Catalina y los padres necesitan venir a la oficina de la parroquia para la aplicación Bautismal.
