Isaiah's song concerning his friend's vineyard begins with inspiring and poetic images of an idyllic vineyard where the choicest harvest is expected. Instead, the vineyard yields wild grapes, which causes the owner to abandon it. The psalmist cries out to God, asking that God once again take care of the vineyard, which is the house of Israel. The parable told in today's Gospel offers a stern warning that those who commit treachery in the hopes of attaining personal wealth will be "put... to a wretched death" (Matthew 21:41). Jesus warns his listeners not to act like the murderous tenants in the vineyard. Instead he exhorts them to produce the kind of fruit that will lead them to the kingdom of God. Copyright (c) J. S. 3 St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church September October 17, 8, 2017 Last Week Before Fall Festival! Come help us make this the greatest festival yet! Call today to sign up to volunteer your time and talent to help our Parish build for the future! We invite your whole family to join in and enjoy the fun and fellowship! There are opportunities for ALL PARISHIONERS! Help prepare the festival grounds! Raking, picking up debris, and some painting. Help next week during the day OR after work! We ll be here all week and will be moving heavy items and setting up trash cans and picnic tables around the grounds. Muscles would be helpful! Pull out your favorite recipe and start your oven! Whether you bake from family recipes or from a boxed mix, the Bakery booth welcomes your generous donations of cakes, cookies, candies, etc. We especially welcome sugar free goodies. Please label all items, especially if the items contains nuts and / or is sugar free. You may drop off your baked goods at the Bakery booth any time during festival hours. Donate homemade craft items for our Craft booth, and plants large and small - for our Plant booth. We also need help in the food booths, and can use your help with clean up after festival on Sunday. There are many moms in our parish who attend or would like to attend the Women s Prayer Group that meets on Tuesday mornings. We are in need of someone who loves children who would be willing to supervise children in our nursery from 9 to 11 am during the meeting. The only requirements are providing patient, loving care and completing a background check as required by our Diocese.
