God our Father, Author of life, we entrust the United States of America to Your loving care. You are the rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Reclaim this land for Your glory and dwell among Your people. Send Your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation s leaders. Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Remind Your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing Your will. Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land, grant us the courage to reject the "culture of death." Lead us into a new millennium of life. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. ~ Amen.
4 Coffee & Donuts TODAY! Looking for a little social time after mass? Come and enjoy coffee and doughnuts with us. Cookies and lemonade after the 11:30 mass. All are Welcome! A Fond Farewell David Friddle, our parish Music Director since May, 2013, has informed us that he will be moving on to Rochester, MN, effective July 9th. While this is a great loss to our community, we respect his decision and wish him all the best. During his tenure, David has been a wonderful asset to our community. By sharing his incredible professional skills and talents, he has greatly enhanced the quality of our music program. The choir especially will miss his leadership. It is with justifiable pride that Msgr. Chet refers to the choir as a Cathedral level choral group! In our search for a new Music Minister, we hope to find someone who can continue to build on the foundation left by David and his immediate predecessors, Greg Homza and Allen Davis. New Confessional and Work Sacristy Now Open! Upon entering the renovated chapel, your eyes are immediately lifted up to the highlighted corpus which originally hung in the church sanctuary before the installation of the current artistic rendering of the crucifix. To the left, below the corpus, is the new Reconciliation Room and to the right, the door to the new work sacristy. We will highlight each of these during the next few weeks. In the meantime, you are welcome to visit the chapel and take a peek into these beautiful new spaces. World Wide Marriage Encounter Set off your own fireworks by giving your spouse the gift of a Worldwide Marriage Encounter (WWME) weekend! The next weekends are: Jul 7-9, 2017 in Greenville, SC and Oct 13-15, 2017 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Early sign up is recommended. Scripture Reflection ur First Reading from Second O Kings, chapter 4, features Elisha. You may recall that Elisha was plowing in a field when the prophet Elijah called him to follow him. Something happened at that moment and Elisha chose to do it, which is what brought him to this point in his journey (as reported in today s Holy Scripture). We often address the fact that each of us is called as well. Our calling, like Elisha s and like those of Christ s Apostles, is really not that much different. Christ said, Follow Me, and the Apostles basically dropped everything, ceased pursuing what they were doing in some cases with good jobs and vocations and followed Christ. We are called to follow the Lord from the moment of our Baptism, but how many of us actually take that calling seriously? It is not just a question of hearing the call; the key is whether we are listening for it? It is there, but we must be aware of it in order to respond. Elisha s call and our calls are signs of God at work. God has a plan for each of us. We are the means by which God s work is continued in our parishes, in our communities, and in the Church. God s ministry on earth will be carried out and accomplished. None of us is the entire ministry; we can all be replaced. However, by the same token in God s eyes we are absolutely necessary. Are we ready to respond? Are we ready to be disciples of the Lord? Welcome!
