4 CHURCH SUPPORT Last weekend s offertory collection at Masses: $5, World Mission Sunday: $1, Snapshot of Church Finances for the month of September Total offertory $37, Misc. income $2, Expenses: $38, Building fund collection & payment: $8, The Interest payment is roughly $5,000.00, only about $3, went towards principal. based on our last statement dated Our Building Loan Balance is $1,490, Please your parish group activities to the church office so we can include them in the bulletin and calendar. Pictures of parish activities are also greatly appreciated. Church Bulletin items must be received in the Parish Office or ed to office@sjtwchurch.org by noon on Tuesday, to be in the bulletin for the upcoming weekend. Upcoming Events This week WOW s Monthly Group Meeting: Monday, October 30th at 7:00 pm in the Parish Hall. All women from the parish are invited. This meeting is not at it s normal day of the month (Thursday), because of All Soul s Day Masses. Masses for All Saints and All Souls Day are this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The schedule in on the next page. Beyond this week Monthly Youth Group Get-together: Monday, November 6th at 7:00 pm in the Parish Hall. We will be putting together care packages, and fleece blankets for Primary Children s Hospital. Bingo: Friday November 10th, at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:30 and a delicious homemade dinner will be available for sale. This will be our annual Turkey Bingo! Come and win a turkey for Thanksgiving! Bunco: Monday, November 13th at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Please bring a snack to share and $5.00 to win big!! This is a fun way to meet new women from the parish and socialize, we hope you can join us. Parish Advisory Council Meeting: Thursday, November 16th. The first 15 minutes are open to any parishioner who would like to speak. Thanksgiving Day Mass: Thursday, November 23rd at 10:00 am, the celebration will be bi-lingual (English & Spanish). This will be our first bi-lingual celebration in many years, we hope you can join us as we all come together as one parish family to give thanks for our many blessings!

5 Mass Schedule for All Saints, A Holy Day of Obligation. Vigil Mass in Spanish for All Saints Day: Tuesday, October 31st at 7:00 pm: Mass in English for All Saints Day: Wednesday, November 1st at 10:00 am, and 7:00 pm. All Soul s Day Mass in English for All Souls Day: Thursday, November 2nd at 10:00 am, and 7:00 pm Daylight Saving Time ends at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 5th. Don t forget...this coming weekend before you go to sleep on Saturday night, set your clock one hour back. Please support our raffle program! Our first drawing is Sunday, December 3rd! You could win $1,000.00, or four other cash prizes just in time for Christmas. There are printed envelopes in the Gathering Space. The cost is $10.00 an entry, please put your money in the envelope, and write your name and phone number on the envelope. You can drop them in the Collection Basket. The envelope will serve as your raffle entry. We will have two drawings a year, the last Sunday of May & First Sunday of December. Drawings will take place after the 11:30 Mass in the Gathering Space. Your entry must be received the weekend before the drawing or it will be kept for the next drawing. More instructions can be found on the envelope. We hope that each family supports the raffle by buying entries, also if your work allows it you can take them to work and collect them from co -workers and family members. WHERE: Sr. Fabian Parish Disco Hall TICKETS: $35 per person, $400 for reserved table of 10. Tickets sold after all Masses. Buy early, no tickets are sold at the door. Over 21 years old, no BYOB. The Silent Auction is our Parish s annual community fundraiser with the funds going to support special parish projects. 7 We ve had a ton of fun during past auctions, with lots of creative baskets to auction off. We hope you can join us, and possibly contribute to a basket!!

8 YOUTH GROUP SERVICE PROJECT We would like to make and deliver fleece blankets and care packages to the families at Primary Children s who have critically ill, or terminal children. We need the following items donated to help this cause: Fleece fabric (preferably 2 yard pieces) Puzzle books, card games, crayons/color books, slipper socks, chapstick, lotion, toiletries, Hair ties, Gum, Candies, and snack food. THE ABOVE ITEMS ARE FOR THE PARENTS. PRIMARY REQUIRES THAT ALL ITEMS BE NEW. Please place the items in the orange bin in the gathering space. 9 The Parish Council meetings are held the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Parish Hall. The first 15 minutes of every meeting are open to parishioners to speak to the Council. Meeting minutes are available on the parish website, sjtwchurch.org/parish-council/ Parishioners are welcome to share information, ideas or concerns with any council member or send an to Jan Meigs at Please put Parish Council in the subject line. St. Joe s Kids Pray Angel of God Let us pray for your personal intentions. There are small cards and pencils in the Church near the children s prayer corner. Did you know that when you place an intention in this prayer space that special prayers are said? These intentions are left in this space for a week, and then taken over to the Parish Hall and hung on a bulletin board, and our Religious Education classes pray for your intentions. Please help us by keeping our bulletin board full! Did you know we have a great website and Facebook page? Our website, has our bulletin, parish contact information, and information on upcoming events on our parish calendar. It also has a link to sign up for Online Giving, it s fast, easy, and secure. If you haven t been to our website, check it out and see how much it has to offer. Our Facebook page can be linked to from our website. Our Facebook page is the best way to stay current on all our events. It contains photo gallery's, interesting links, and up-to-date pictures and information. Church Envelopes If you would like to receive envelopes for your Mass donations please fill out a parish registration form located in the Gathering Space. If you have registered more than 1 month ago and have not received envelopes yet, and would like them, please contact the Parish Office and we can sign you up to start receiving them. Using envelopes helps us provide you with a year end tax statement of your contributions. Did you know you can give your weekly donations to the parish through Online Giving? For your convenience you can sign up to automatically give to the offertory, and or building fund each month. This saves you time writing checks and you never have to remember to have them with you or have cash at the last minute, because it s done automatically for you. You can give weekly, biweekly or monthly. If you are interested, there are online giving forms in the Gathering Space or you can sign up online, go to and click on Online Giving. Its safe, secure and easy! The Dorothy Day Food Pantry is open to give out food on Tuesdays from 4:00 to 7:00 pm We are always in need of canned goods. Food donations can be dropped off during the weekend in the Gathering Space. If you have a large donation, or perishable food that you need to drop off during the week, please call Jim Reese at and he can arrange for someone to meet you to help unload it and put it away. 10 The parish of St. Joseph the Worker is a community of faithful who gather for the Sunday celebration of the Mass. We would like to recognize two individuals who are long time promoters of community. The two individuals are Sandra Molitor and Jim Burchette. You see them every Sunday morning after Mass in the Gathering Space at the coffee and donut tables. They provide us an extra opportunity and our children to be a true community. Thank you, Sandra and Jim. Homebound Communion Ministers are needed! As a homebound communion minister you bring the Eucharist to those in our community who are not able to come to Mass either because they are sick, or confined to their homes, or care facilities. This ministry provides a sense of community and belonging to our parish family members who cannot be here with us regularly. When people call and need communion brought to them, they are referred to Jim Steffon, our ministry leader. He coordinates this valuable pastoral ministry. Jim will check with the ministers to find one who can bring communion to those who need it. Jim provides, training and support. At training you are given a small booklet with what you say when giving someone communion, and the supplies you ll need. If you are interested please call Jim Steffon at or steffonjim@comcast.net A parishioner is looking for a roommate to share a mobile home in the Taylorsville area. If you are interested or have any questions, please call and leave a message. The Dorothy Day Food Pantry is asking for a donation of a used or new laptop with Microsoft Excel. Bendel Memorial Secondary School is located at the outskirts of Moshi town, In Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania, in East Africa. It is owned and administered by the Apostolic Life Community of Priests in the Opus Spirtuas (ALCP) November 12th Building Fund This goes towards paying off the debt for rebuilding the church in We still owe almost 1.5 million. 11 A new and different missalette, and music hymnal books are coming! Beginning on the first Sunday in Advent (December 3rd) you will see three different books in the pew. Our missalette will be bilingual. On the left side of the page is English, and on the right side is the matching Spanish text. During the few Masses a year when celebrations will be bi-lingual, like the Easter Vigil, and Holy Thursday, etc., this will allow everyone to follow along when language in the Mass changes between English and Spanish. The other change, besides being bilingual, is that it will not have music in the back. The music such as the opening and closing hymn will be a separate book, the Breaking Bread Music Edition below. This new missalette will contain the order of Mass, readings, and responsorial song. This is the English music book. It looks like our old missallete that we are used to, but is much thinner and it only contains songs. This is the Spanish music book.
