3 Today s Meditation CHRIST IS KING On the final Sunday of the liturgical year we celebrate the feast of Christ the King. It s easy to understand today s scriptures as events that happened long ago and far away, or predictions that will come true somewhere, some day. But they invite us to claim Christ as our King here and now. Jesus words to Pilate in the Gospel remind us that his kingdom transcends time and place. And the prophecies from Daniel and Revelation give us reason to be faithful to Christ our King right here and right now. By concluding the year with this feast we are proclaiming our faith that Jesus Christ is the one and only King over all seasons, all peoples, and all of creation. No matter what nation we belong to or what language we speak, he has made us into a kingdom (Revelation 1:6) one people united in love and peace for all eternity. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. Women of St. Anthony s Angel Tree & Nursing Home Christmas Party The Angel Tree has been set up in the gathering area. To participate, please: Remove a tag from the tree, purchase and wrap the gift and return it to the Church office with the label attached to the gift NO LATER THAN December 5 th. For the safety of the residents, please do not include food or toiletries. The Christmas Party will be held on December 8 th at 2 PM at the Faith Nursing Home. Please help us to make this day special for the residents. CONFIRMATION The Sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred on our confirmandi and those from surrounding churches by Bishop Guglielmone on Thursday, Dec. 6th at 7 pm. SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION December 8th A Holy Day of Obligation Vigil Mass is Friday, Dec. 7th at 7 pm Saturday, Dec. 8th, Mass is at 10 am There will not be a 9 am Latin Mass on Saturday. Knights of Columbus Council 5194 are collecting used cell phones and smart phones for Cell Phones for Soldiers. This non-profit uses the proceeds from recycling phones to buy talk time for our soldiers. You may drop off phones at the church office.

5 SOLEMNITY OF CHRIST THE KING Sunday, November 25th Eucharistic Procession after the 11am Mass Pope Pius XI instituted this feast in 1925 with his encyclical Quas Primas ("In the first")... to respond to growing nationalism and secularism. He recognized that these related societal ills would breed increasing hostility against the Church. His encyclical reminds the faithful that while governments and philosophies come and go, Christ reigns as king forever. -USCCB The following adoration hours are open. This means that no one is with Jesus receiving His graces. Please consider adding silent adoration to your prayer life. No CYO this weekend Happy Thanksgiving! We will meet again on December 2nd! December events include visiting the nursing home, laser tag, discussions about Advent, and decorating our church for Christmas. Please join us!! ST. ANTHONY ANNUAL TURKEY DRIVE was a success! Thank you for your generosity. BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN This campaign is officially over; however, there are still bottles that have yet to be returned. Please return them to the Church office with or without a donation as soon as possible. This is an annual fundraiser, so the return of the bottles cuts the expenses for next year s effort. Thank you for your support. When you look at a crucifix, you understand how much Jesus loved you then.
