JOHN THE EVANGELIST 71 Murray Avenue, Goshen, New York (845) As announced in last week s bulletin, everyone is invited to join us in the chapel next Saturday, September 15 the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows - at 11:00am for the public recitation of the rosary in reparation for the sins and crimes of abuse committed by priests and bishops. That evening, we will have a holy hour at 7:30pm, also in the chapel, for the express purpose of praying for the victims. There will be a brief liturgy of the word, and we will pray the Litany of the Holy Eucharist; otherwise, it will be sixty minutes of silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament Dozens of our children enjoyed a week of faith, fun and friends at this past summer s Vacation Bible Camp. There are many, many people who devoted countless hours to preparing for and working during VBC. Thanks, first, to the adults who assisted: Jovanna Branham, Cathy Fife, Celine Fredericks, Jeannine Hall, Alice Scanlon, and Debbie Wellington. Our teens and young volunteers were equally indispensable: Madison Batista, Megan Bowen, Cassidy Brock, Taylor Calpo, Ti Calpo, Sophia Centamore, Owen Clark, Abby Conklin, Daniel Berger, Nathalie Berger, Mary Dawson, Kate DeLeon, Michael DeRosa, Zoe Estrada, Joshua Fanslau, Matthew Fanslau, Danielle Fritz, Matthew Funtanilla, Alexis Gray, Ariana Gray, Jordan Gray, Clare Heppes, Avery Hermenegildo, Emily Herring, Kenneth Jiminian, Ava Kaloz, Isabelle Kaloz, Allison Kowalczyk, Amanda Kowalczyk, Siobhan Lahiff, Carly Larsen, Maggie Larsen, Melisa Macagene, Elena Malencheck, Victoria Martinez, Lisa Melendez, Gianara Nieves, Sophia Ottaviano, Elijah Paneto, Ysabela Paneto, Talia Pegg, Andrea Pepe, Luca Pepe, Norman Peters, Declan Pettus, Kate Quinn, Emma Ryan, Ashlynn Smith, McKenna Smith, Rosemary Smith, Tierney Smith, Jayne Sullivan, Kiera Thabet, Jaclyn Vanderpool, Chris VanHaaster, Christina Zick. Four of our newly-minted college freshmen Andrea Pepe, McKenna Smith, Rosemary Smith, and Jayne Sullivan were duly recognized for many years of participation, first as campers and then as counselors. (If I ve inadvertently left anyone s name out, please let me know.) None of this would come to fruition without the drive and seemingly inexhaustible energy of Debby Sheehan. She would be the first to say that this is all the Holy Spirit s work which is most certainly true but so much more good can come when we put ourselves completely at the Spirit s disposal.
