Sign-ups: K-5 faith formation and youth ministry sign-ups will begin soon. All sign-ups will be completed online this year so please look for further information in the upcoming weeks. If your child is not currently a part of the K-5 or youth ministry program and you would like to register them for the upcoming year, please contact Brian Lohr. Children in Kindergarten: If your child is going into kindergarten this school year, we would love to invite them to the K-5 faith formation program at Holy Cross. Please contact Brian Lohr for more information on how to sign them up for our kindergarten class. Sacramental Preparation: Children going into 2 nd grade this year will celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Children going into 8 th grade will celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation. If your child has not recently been involved with faith formation/youth ministry and you would like for them to be involved in the sacramental preparation process, please contact Brian Lohr. Other Financial News Last week the parish received a second check as reimbursement from the Diocese for DLA money collected from Holy Cross! The Diocesan Mission Director has reported to us that Holy Cross donated over $6,000 to the missions during the fiscal year. 4 MORE COMMUNITY AND DIOCESAN NEWS Bishop Malesic invites all couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary during the calendar year 2018 to participate in a special Golden Jubilee Mass to be held at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at 3 p.m. The Jubilarians, their children, relatives or friends should contact their local parish office to register couples for this celebration. You may donate filled baskets or items that can be used to fill baskets. Please do not bring items to the office. Please Call Georgie Gamberoni for more information about how you can help: CLEARANCE UPDATES For New Parish Volunteers: To give of your time to help around the parish for the festival or an ongoing ministry you must complete PA s Child Protective Services Law and diocesan requirements. These apply to anyone 18 and older and must be completed before you can volunteer. There are six clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check; PA Child Abuse History Certification; Volunteer Affidavit (PA residency of 10 or more years) [FBI Fingerprints for PA residency of less than 10 years]; Mandated Reporter Training; Virtus/Protecting God s Children; 2015 Greensburg Diocese Code of Pastoral Conduct. Packets of applications for the clearances, including information for doing them online, are available on one of the red chairs by the organ. Depending on your job, you may already have some of the clearances completed. If they have been done since 2015, just make a copy of them for the parish files.
