3 Vice President s Report Treasurer s Report Boy is time flying fast it will be prime riding season before we know it, or at least that is the way it feels for me. Thanksgiving is now just a memory and Christmas is right around the corner! The Shopping for the forgotten elderly will be on Monday Dec. 5th at 7pm. Black Hills Area Bikers do an incredible job with this event. Come to Kmart and help get the items for those who are alone and have no family to bring them cheer. I myself have lots of work ahead of me. My wife Erika and I have just found out that we will be blessed with a boy some time in March. Now I have to get the baby room completed so he can come home to a child friendly room. It comes with great pride that I will be able to pass my family name and values down to another generation, pressure is off me lol! After all at the end of the day it is family that matters the most. I wish everyone wonderful holiday filled with love and joy. It is never too early to start helping with the planning committee for next year s member drive. Watch facebook and the web site for details or simply contact Ginny or any board member. Craig will be drawing some ones name out of the hat for a gift card from the member drive. You still have time to get your name in that hat, all you have to do is sign up a new member before the last meeting. 5 Chaplains Corner I know some times "Seasonal" messages are "out of sync" but Thanksgiving is passed (by the time some of you read this); however, Christmas is coming. God Incarnate left Heaven to come to Earth as a lowly human. His goal was to give us all the opportunity to save/redeem ourselves and to that end He shed His blood on the cross. I often say ABATE is about the three "P's" - Poker runs, Parties, and Politics. But what about our Priorities. God first because He "so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son to save us all" John 3:16. Politics next - if government has it's way, we won't be riding "bikes" or even driving our own cars! So Legislative Days are important - just as you mark your calendars and save money for a party, so should you for this important event. In fact, we may have some legislation pending! We hope to see you all there! Speaking of "all there"; and, by-passing Poker runs, do you all know where the real party will be? and it is FREE! Jesus paid the price for you and me. All we have to do is ask Him into our lives and He will work in and with you. He doesn't expect us to be perfect; He just wants us to try to be the best we can be. To love Him and pray and listen to His will for us. We have all lost friends and family (Auggie and I too many this year) but we are convinced the BIGGEST party EVER will be in Heaven. Want to be there with us? Romans 10:13 "For whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:9 "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart... you will be saved." Party On! We'll see you all there when our time comes! In His service, Sunshine and Auggie BIKE RAFFLE REPORT At the October General Meeting, the membership voted to continue the bike raffle with the same format and model except this years model, a 2012 Flamed Dyna Wide Glide, is a bit flashier model than last years. It's primary color is Sunglo Red with Sedona Orange flames and is a very sharp looking motorcycle. The membership also agreed to put a down payment on one which I did two days after our meeting. Print Mark-t is printing up books of tickets which will be available at December's meeting. Craig and I are working on the county's legal formalities as well. Please come out and get a book or two and help raise funds for our organization. It may be you who wins the grand prize! Thanks B.A. & Mary CAPUTA GENERAL STORE E. 7 State Rep s Report The original IMPAC and BOD meetings, scheduled for the 19th were cancelled due to weather and no quorum available. However, it was rescheduled on an emergency basis as a combined meeting the following day. We did have a quorum of officers and some State Reps. Present was a sub for Black Hills, Lewis & Clark, present was Northeast, North Star, Oahe, Rushmore, Southeast, Sioux Falls, A new Rep for Sioux River (Trudie) and Turtle Creek Riders. Those Guys also had a sub and Shadow Riders no longer are a chapter. IMPAC worked on the Legislative Days schedule and will have a report coming along with a schedule of events and the agenda. We also discussed the windshield tinting laws and decided to follow up on that legislatively. Laura Snow was supposed to be a guest speaker but was not present and our Lobbyist, Dianna Miller was also unable to be there. We have 1,292 members statewide and we would like to see all of you at Legislative Days in Pierre, Jan 19 & 20, We are looking into getting non-profit status for postage on the Freedom Flyer. There is an initial application fee and an annual fee but it will greatly reduce the cost of mailing. It was decided to proceed with the process. Regarding the newspaper boxes, there are still some left and we were told that MRF would also provide their newsletter monthly (in our area thru Jiggs Cressy) to put in them with our maps and other information. John Steele spoke about the meeting he attended in Detroit and said that MRF has 21 items that were discussed. More information regarding these items will be forthcoming in the Freedom Flyer. One item he expressly wanted us to address right now, though, was the Michigan helmet law which has been rescinded by both the Senate and the House, is waiting for concurrent vote and then signed by the Governor (who has not indicated which way he will vote/sign. We are being asked to send postcards to the Governor to sing this bill. It was moved and approved to have IMPAC follow up on the windshield issue. Since we have to pay Dianna for helping us with the windshield issue, it was deemed that vertical license plates and handlebars issues would wait. State Products person was not present so no patches yet but they will be $5.00 each. It was also decided that since the state does not have products at this time, chapters may bring their product to sell at Legislative Days, if they so wish. There are a few requirements to this, though. If you bring "stuff" you must attend it at all times ("stuff" and money) and only bring samples to the function, leaving most of the products in your vehicle as space and tables are limited. Thank You! East River maps are still being worked on. There will be a Membership Committee meeting (that means ALL Membership Secretaries from each chapter) will meet prior to the BOD at 9:15 am 1/21/12. It was decided and voted upon to continue the statewide poker run. Susan L. will print them again. Thank you, Susan! Meeting of the Minds report will be given during the Legislative Days sessions. Heartland Steam will be close to us this next year so we should all start planning to go - it is a GREAT experience and very informative! It is in Omaha, NE on March at the Omaha Marriott. Respectfully submitted, Sunshine Minzlaff Rushmore ABATE State Rep. 900 Jackson Blvd. 7
