... Spring is a reminder to our souls that life is more, so much more, than simply making it through each day. In the midst of daily news stories and challenging situations in our own lives, Creation throws us an extravagant party called Spring. Our hearts are encouraged (filled with courage) by this lavish reminder that life is continually unfolding and is more beautiful than we could have imagined. New life is springing forth at Unity, too! We have a lavish array of opportunities before us for spiritual unfoldment through learning, sacred service, and fun. Our calendar is full to overflowing you will want to check it often. I fairly sizzle with zeal at all the ideas and excitement that are being generated right now at Unity! Here are a few highlights: Spring Rummage Sale on Saturday, April 9. Clean out your closets and clear out your garages. It s time to re-purpose items that are still in working order. This is a community outreach and a great fundraiser for us. Many hands are needed to sort and price beforehand and to help on the day of the sale. Thank you in advance! I of the Storm class on three Tuesday evenings: April 12, 19, and 26 from 6:00 8:00 pm, led by Rev. Cheryl (me) here at Unity. The subtitle of the book on which this class is based is Embracing Conflict, Creating Peace. As the back cover says: [Gary] Simmons integrates spiritual principles, biblical quotes, and martial arts philosophy (he is a fourth-degree black belt in tae kwon do) as well as concepts from modern science especially quantum theory. In this way he points us to the I of the storm of conflict, to our spiritual Self, as the means of realizing peace in our lives. This class could well be game-changer for you! Sure to be thought-provoking, fastpaced, and fun. Re-scheduled Drum Circle to April 23 because of a special Board Training in Lynnwood. Your Board of Directors is going above and beyond their usual responsibilities this month as all seven of us head to Unity of Lynnwood to join leaders from a number of Unity centers for a Board Training led by Rev. Toni Boehm. It happens on Saturday, April 16. Since James, our Drum Circle leader, is on the Board, we have moved the Drum Circle ahead one week to April 23. April 23 is now a Super Saturday! The fun will begin with a CLEAN-UP DAY inside and outside starting at 9:00 am and finishing with a light lunch at noon. We look forward to a fantastic turn out as we spruce up our gardens and grounds outside and our kitchen and sanctuary inside. Then, from 1:00 2:30 pm, the Uniteens will lead a class in making PRAYER BEADS. For just a $10 donation, you will have all the supplies needed to make a beautiful string of prayer beads for yourself or someone special. Following that, you are invited to bring all that prayer energy to our DRUM CIRCLE from 3:00 4:30. Whew! What a fabulous day! Poker Run on Saturday, April 30. We ll close out this first full month of spring with Unity s very first Poker Run FUN-Raiser! What is a poker run? Read more about it on another page of this newsletter, but basically teams of two set out by car to find clues that will take them to five different stops around town. At each stop, the team picks one card from a deck of cards. The goal is to make it back to the church by a certain time to see which team has drawn the best poker hand. Winner gets 10% of the money raised! So, there is April at a glance and I haven t even mentioned Adventures in Awakening, A Course in Miracles discussion group, our Wednesday book group, the Knitting Circle oh, maybe I just did! Thank you for being part of the wonder and beauty of Life s continuous unfolding in our Unity community. Together, we help one another to bloom and grow! A p r i l Our Vision We are called by a loving God to claim our divinity; to honor each person as God s beloved; to grow in spiritual understanding; and to transform our world through service. Together, we create a community that reflects God s love. Our Mission Unity Spiritual Life Center is a community that love is building. Our mission is to experience God s love, to express God s love, and to be God s love in action. Happy April! Cheryl

10:30 am We celebrate Easter one Sunday a year, but what would it be like to live with a resurrection consciousness all the time? That is a question we will consider from various angles over the next several weeks. With themes suggested by Dr. Gary Simmons little book, The Soul s Conspiracy: Master Conflict and Transform Your Life, we will take a look at what rising in consciousness could look like, feel like, BE like. Come, rise with us at Unity Spiritual Life Center! April 3 Rising in Playfulness Just for fun... There is an ancient tradition of making the first Sunday after Easter one of holy hilarity. With the relief of having the passion (suffering) of Jesus behind us and the promise of resurrection within us, we can let go and laugh a little. Remember, angels fly because they take themselves lightly! Lighten your load and come smile with us April 10 Rising in Purpose Do you know what your soul s mission is? When we get clear about our spiritual purpose as individuals and as a spiritual community we are primed to make a positive difference in our world. Our words and actions become more focused and authentic. When we live on purpose, we stop flailing around and find ourselves moving easily in the flow of Life. Come home to who you came here to be. Together, let us be the change our world is waiting for! April 17 Rising in Presence We talk a lot in Unity about being present in this NOW moment. What does that really mean? It has something to do with becoming aware of how our past is coloring the present. Then there is that whole possibility of letting go of worrying into the future. When we learn to be present to our life experiences as they are unfolding right now, we discover we are not alone. There is One Presence and One Power accompanying us. It always has and always will. Don t you feel stronger already? April 24 Rising in Principle We are all constantly in the process of making meaning of our lives. Seems obvious, right? What may not be as obvious is that each of us is responsible for the meanings we create. Life happens. Some of it may seem wonderful and some of it seems difficult. Have you ever noticed that what seems wonderful to one person may be horrible to another? It s true! When we rise in principle, we look for the bigger Truth in each situation. Life lived from principle gives us a whole new view of the world an expanded, compassionate, appreciative view. Kind of like the view from Martin Luther King s mountaintop so beautiful!

Saturday, April 23rd 9am-Noon Todd Hottell will be our foreman this year. Let s get together and spruce up our building & grounds. No experience necessary, bring your own rakes, gloves, and smiles! We ll finish with lunch. Save the date!! Mark your calendars! Saturday, May 7, :00pm We are planning to hold our High Tea on May 7 th which will consist of a snack of small sandwiches, scones with jam, dessert treats and of course tea!. Reservations are available to congregants and the public, the more the merrier. Decorations are underway and we have many people donating tea cups and saucers. We are hoping to get a quilt donated to raffle off as well as a beautiful plant basket. A picture booth is planned where we hope to have a life size cardboard cutout of the Queen available to take pictures with. It should be a lot of fun! May 22, :00pm Patricia Hendrickson with American First Aid and CPR has offered us a CPR course following Sunday service/fellowship. The full course is about 3.5 hours and includes FA/CPR AND A.E.D. Cost is love offering.

Financial Report March Operating Income: $9894 Expenses: $10,105 Budgeted: $9800 We gratefully share what we receive! Unity believes in the spiritual practice of tithing. As we share our income with others, we also generously receive. In March, we tithed 10% of our income to: Unity Worldwide Ministries, Unity NW Region, Yakima Food Bank and the 107 House We received a generous gift designated to fill in any shortfalls with payroll. This gift, like every gift we receive, blesses and supports us all in our mission to be a center of acceptance and spiritual growth. Thank you, God! Prayer Bead Class Saturday April 23rd from 1 to 2:30pm (All materials will be provided) The fee is $10 per person The Uniteens are holding a class on how to make prayer/mindfulness beads. The money raised will be split between a charity of the teens choosing, a fun event for the Uniteens this summer and with the church. We will be putting positive energy and love into each bead as we build. With its completion we will smudge the beads and do a group prayer with them. Each time you meditate or pray with your beads you imbue them with your positive thoughts, loving energy and dreams for the future. Your beads become a portable Sacred Space that is a physical reminder of your intent to achieve a higher self. We hope you can join us, as it's a great way for the teens to start becoming involved in the congregation. Please feel free to invite your friends to join too. This promises to be a fun event! Lovingly, Chaundra Ambrose It s almost spring and that means it s time to clean out your closets and garage for items we can sell at our Annual Rummage Sale! Annual Spring Rummage Sale SATURDAY, APRIL 9th - 8:00am UNITY Spiritual Life Center Begin saving your treasures now! We will need many volunteers the first week of April to help put on this fundraising event. The church will be open for helpers and donations from 10am - 4pm each day. I will be at the church all week from 12pm - 4or 5pm (except Monday) if you d like to join me and help sort and price. There is a sign up sheet in the gathering room. Thank you in advance for all the support! Lynn Pahl, Chair Rummage Sale Committee ~~If you have large items you need help transporting, please let me know ASAP.

HOPCOF Minister Testimony to Spiritual Community On May 14, 2016 our spiritual community will participate in a HOPCOF" (Honoring Our Past, Creating Our Future) experience. HOPCOF is a ministry service shared with us by Unity Worldwide Ministries. I personally requested that a ministry consultant hold a HOPCOF for us because, as we grow, it is important that we are thoughtful about what we want to "grow into" while we honor the past that has brought us to this moment. While I, as your spiritual leader, may have my own ideas about what we could become - this is YOUR spiritual community and the HOPCOF process is a wonderful way of making sure you have a voice in the development of your spiritual community. This will be a very powerful and positive gathering. While we do not have any current "issues" on the table, we will share our history as a foundational piece for collaborating about our future. And it s going to be both fast paced and FUN! This experience will be facilitated by Rev. Sonya Milton, a certified UWM Ministry Skills Team Consultant, who is dynamic, entertaining, knowledgeable, and most importantly has the skillful capacity to guide us into our creative hearts! Sonya will speak at our Sunday service on May 15 and conclude our experience (after potluck) with a beautiful Self-Reconciliation Circle from 12:30-2:30. In Loving Service to this Spiritual Community, Rev. Cheryl Rohret, Minister This will be a VERY special day for our community. Please plan to join us, from 10-4, on Saturday, May 14. From your Prayer Ministry As a rededication of the purpose of the Prayer Ministry, we have developed a Mission Statement: We are a vibrant source of prayer, supporting others in love. We will be holding a prayer workshop in the coming months (TBA) where we can share with you what prayer means to us, how we use it in our lives and what it means to be a prayer partner. Stay tuned for more information. In March, we had our annual potato bake, raising $198 for the ministry! We are available particularly after service on Sunday and would be pleased to pray with you. You may also fill out a prayer card in the foyer. If you want Rev. Cheryl to mention your prayer request during service, please put the card in the basket. If not, the card may go into the box. All prayer requests are lovingly prayed over by our own prayer ministry, then the are mailed to Silent Unity where they are held in prayer for 30 days. Namaste, Sandy Bullock
