1 From Our Spiritual Leader, Glennie Smith Happy Easter, Unity family!! This is truly the most reverent, sacred month of the year, as we celebrate Easter, the rise of the Christ consciousness within Thank you to recent guest speakers, Dennis Warner & Mary Anderson. See page 2 for more photos & details. each & every one of us. If you haven't already done so, I encourage you to purchase the small Lenten booklet titled Let go & let God. It's a wonderful guide to help you maneuver through this time of preparation for Easter. Each day begins with a quote from Scripture & inspiring words much like the "Daily Word." It has helped me personally during my time of prayer & meditation, to get centered & to stay in the consciousness of Love. This Sunday we are going to talk about the importance of the altar. The altar is a place in consciousness where you are willing to let go of the lesser for the greater, to let go of personality and interest to individuality of the Christ. (Charles Fillmore) Next week we are going to be talking about Jesus, and his triumphant march into Jerusalem, as Jesus made his way into the city of peace. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of holy week, a period of prayer and spiritual preparation. There is spiritual power at work during this week which backs us up in our desire to overcome. And finally, Easter Sunday, our celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. Its inner meaning and spiritual significance is the awakening and rising of spiritual consciousness of the I Am in man. As our cofounder Charles Fillmore states: the resurrection is the rising up of the whole man---spirit, soul and body----- into the Christ consciousness of life and wholeness. This Jesus did. The tomb could not hold his redeemed perfect body Temple. Resurrection is accomplished by the quickening power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus showed us the way to life eternal. It is our responsibility to follow in his footsteps, to become the perfect expression of God in the world. This is our heritage and our destiny. As apostle Paul tells us: the Christ in you-your hope of glory. Happy Easter! Namaste, Glennie Christ Church Unity of Rockford 4831 Manchester Drive, Rockford IL (815) info@unityofrockford.com
2 Christ Church Unity of Rockford is staying busy! Guest speakers/performers, rummage sale, Spanish lessons, return of Bingo and Movie nights, another class by Marge Orchard, tsunami relief, spring clean up and the ongoing search for the perfect screen and projector are just some of the activities going on at the church. Dennis Warner spoke to the congregation on March 27, 2011, performing his song/ book "Beads on One String." Mary Anderson spoke to the congregation on April 3, 2011 on "An Ordinary Person." Thanks to both speakers, as they were very motivating and captivating. Movie Night featured "What the Bleep." For timely information on church activities, please check your often and keep a copy of this newsletter handy! " Discover the Power Within You" Taught by Marge Orchard, L.U.T. This course is a spiritual study of the true teachings of Jesus Christ. It is based on the book of Eric Butterworth, Discover the Power within You. The book presents the thesis that we all can discover, accept, and release the same power of the Divinity that Jesus believed dwelt within him, within consciousness, and also in each individual. Jesus described this Divinity as the Kingdom of Heavens within. Paul, the apostle, described it as the Christ in you, your hope of glory. This class will open the door to and provide a guide to the unexplored depths within you. With the help of this Unity inspirational classic, we will explore the depth potential of the divine within each of us. This is a "must be there" class if you are new to Unity and a wonderful refresher for long time members. The course will outline ways in which you can release the power locked within you and help you achieve the realization and unfoldment of your own innate divinity. This is a required class in the new S.E.E. Class will be held Saturdays: 4/16/11 thru 5/21, 9 am-11am, on a Love Offering Basis.
3 Welcome to Unity's Year of Abundant Living! This month's theme is Step Out in Faith. Please use this affirmation to enhance and enrich your daily spiritual practice: I am strong, positive and powerful. The article below is from Unity.org's web site and can be found at In Everything, Have Faith in God! By Mary L. Kupferle TODAY IS THE DAY to keep on having faith in God. In everything, have faith in God's love and wisdom at work in your life. In everything that has already occurred, choose to have faith and know that God's presence and power were active. In everything happening in this moment, have faith that God is present and in control of all details. In thoughts of the future, again take hold of the idea: In everything, I have faith in God! If you are facing a physical challenge, focus your attention and belief on the declaration: In everything, I have faith in God and in God's total healing power! Initiate this life-giving thought again and again in the realization that with increasingly greater healing power it will begin to rise up within your mind and heart and bless you. In everything, I have faith in God! No matter what negativity may arise during the day, regarding yourself or someone you love, choose to keep this one simple thought active. Let it be a silent or verbal sentinel reminding you of the path you wish to follow and of the kind of person you want to be. Repeat the words often: In everything, I have faith in God! Use this response to all limitation that occurs, appears or persists in life's events. Determine to consciously choose again and again this positive affirmation and healing attitude. I have found that when no other prayer, no other words, seem to bring the encouragement needed, the declaration: In EVERYTHING, I have faith in God! has helped rebuild my trust, re-strengthen my conviction, and restore my growing awareness of oneness with the Father. Jesus Christ showed in a powerful way, through his own manner of response, the vital importance of right reaction to every circumstance of life. Confronted by the negative attitudes of the Pharisees and other religious leaders, he persistently moved forward in having faith in God. You are given, through Jesus' example, the basis for working miracles in your life today. Regardless of the undesirable occasion, negative feelings, or activity in evidence, you can meet each one with the quiet insistence that it need not remain or need not be given a place of importance within your mind. You can prove by example that all attention and all faith turned to the Father is a miracle-working power in everything. The more often you choose to have faith in God, the stronger your conviction grows and the more effective your prayers become. Yes, I know there may be times when you are literally surrounded by opposition to your belief in healing or inwardly filled with arguments against the possibility of realizing wholeness. It is in such instances that you can remember and follow the example given by Jesus Christ. You can repeatedly turn away from all that is negative and give your attention to your faith in God.
