3 ESP Lab News THERE ARE A LOT OF DIFFERENT STYLES AND MINE IS THE BEST! BEAUTIFUL BAST 2011 LAMMAS for ESP LAB by Linda Savage, PhD August 2nd is Lammas (meaning loaf-mass), the celebration of the beginning of the three traditional harvest festivals (along with September 21st and November 1st). The Celts called this time Lughnasadh (pronounced loo-na-sa), Native Americans called it the Green Corn Festival and in Slavic Regions it is called the feast of the Big Glad Woman. In Peru there is a Corn Parade and in India, a cotton festival honors Cotton Mother. The great Bull Dancing of Minoan Crete and of Bardic Wales occurred at this time. Primarily a feast of joyful thanksgiving, it is the time of year that Mother Earth gives birth to her first fruits so that her children might live through the winter. Although Lammas is now dated August 2nd, an ancient traditional date was August 6th when the astrological sign of Leo is positioned at 15 degrees. Early August is also called The Dog Days, not so much for the heat as many believe, but because the Dog Star, Sirius becomes visible in the sky. Ancient tribes met to share news, trade goods, settle arguments, play games to show off their skills and most importantly, to court and arrange marriages. Bread baked from the first grains is one of the most universal symbols and virtually every culture honored a Grain Goddess (Corn Grandmother, Ceres, Demeter, Freya, Isis and Ziva to name a few.) In Stone Age cultures, tribes gathered at hill sites, such as Silbury Hill in Somerset, England (a 130 ft. high human made mound) to be with the Goddess as she neared her time of giving birth. Her labor was thought to begin at the full moon. In Ireland, farming communities still gather at hundreds of traditional hilltop sites to set up craft fairs, feast, play games and dance. It is called Big Sunday and the first fruits of the harvest are eaten at a ceremonial meal. You might choose to create a ritual to honor the day such as: Forgiving Past Debts and Rededicating Yourself to Personal Dreams; Rekindling Passion and Purpose; Expressing Gratitude for Your Many Blessings. Strive towards a positive mental attitude of Love, Laughter and Illumination. Change the channel on negative emotionalism, doubt, worry, and self pity to thoughts of a more cosmic nature. Count your blessings instead. Turn to spiritually uplifting literature. Find affirmations to replace negations God is my Source. God is LOVE and so am I. The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. This Universe and our world is made up of opposites Day and Night, Black and White, Good and Evil, Male and Female, Yin and Yang, Hot and Cold, Positive and Negative, Ebb and Flow, Yes and No-- and each energy and light frequency possesses this duality. My spiritual teacher Mello Rye used to encourage me to use the negative to push the positive, finding a way to transform the energy from negativity into creativity. And such is the challenge of life-- to live it fully and freely while shaking off the negative. Life creates challenge as an opportunity for growth. Yet moving through Life s many issues can take perseverance, determination, courage and stamina. Let s do it!! There s always something going on that can make one feel challenged. Choose to use any difficulties as opportunities for GROWTH with forward motion and positive evolution. Yes, let s get through it all and win anyway!!! As Al would say, Our battles are already won! Things do go better when we use our free will to choose to turn to the LIGHT, to tune in, to ask SPIRIT for help, and accept this good. Our fun ESP LAB is a ready source of transformation with a wide variety of established techniques to help us win again and again. Join with me as I tune into the LIGHT through accessing some Lab methodology, and let s shake off any bitterness, self pity, feelings of defeat, or worry and move forward to the victory of a bright positive future.
