DOINGS AROUND THE LAB Sami has joined a local UU choir and sang a solo for Valentine s day. The song was STAND BY ME! He has also been networking with the local Universalist Fellowship, taught a class there that featured the works of Al Manning & promoting ESP LAB. He also has participated in local pagan and Druid study groups, so we are getting the networking going for spring. Manning To experience any measure of peace in our modem society, there must be a reasonable flow of money into your daily life. The old "fire and brimstone" set of preachers taught that poverty is a virtue and riches are evil. They based their sour grapes attitude on quotations from the teachings blamed on Jesus like: "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven " (Matt.5:3) and "...It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 19:34) (My instinctive comment would be: Who would want to go to such a poverty stricken kingdom anyway??) Modern students understand that these and similar statements were couched in the allegorical language of the times, and intended to placate and control the masses. Properly understood these old quotes mean that a person who is owned or possessed by his riches cannot experience the spiritual growth necessary to attain a comfortable relationship with God. Historically the preachers concentrated on the "Blessed are the POOR" part, and more or less ignored the "in spirit" which is the key to understanding. To us "poor in spirit" should mean "not pompous or arrogant or puffed up." We certainly agree that a person POSSESSED by material wealth will have a hard time making spiritual progress, but NOTHING in nature or in Jesus' teachings tells us to suffer from the disease of poverty. Let's accept the real promise: "I am come that they may have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:10) TESTIMONIALS & FEEDBACK! This is a more internal expression the changes are made on an emotional landscape. An opposition of the Sun and Moon. A soft light shines into every dark corner, illumination realization of both failure and accomplishment. It is a time to complete your goals.. or at least set a completion date! Opportunity vs. Organization (steps to complete) continues to be problematic, pull up your socks incredible things can be accomplished during this time. To be forewarned is to be forearmed you need to keep your emotional critic under control!

5 Spiritual Science March April 2016 Discernment and Judgement (Continued from last newsletter) By Reverend Michael Manning Practicing Non Judgement: In addition to practicing discernment I encourage you to simultaneously practice non judgment. That means to refrain from the impulse to label or judge something. Discernment works from a place of deep neutrality and is not passive. It allows the highest action to come up when needed, and most things that happen don't need nearly as much action as we often think they do. Most things that occur or are said to us are not really about us, and learning to practice non judgment is the first step to moving into the place of discernment. Allowing Judgements to Dissolve: Discernment does not need to make a big splash in front of everyone. That is what our egos like to do with their judgments. Discernment is simply stating what is and what is true, and from that point of view, it makes living our life so much more effortless because there is nothing to protect or defend. There can be a lot of work leading up to profound discernment, and as we continue working on it, our judgements will gradually dissolve. It is not always easy to see reality, especially when things appear to be in conflict with our core beliefs. However, it behooves us to always strive to see things the way they really are the best that we can. We rarely, if ever, know everything in any given situation. We do know that behavior that is judgmental, labeling, blaming, critical, cruel or hateful is catabolic. Keeping our aim towards discriminative thinking will create more anabolic energy. It is productive for us to recognize behavior and attitudes that are not in accord with the highest good for all concerned, and for us to set boundaries for ourselves against these without adding new attitudes, behaviors, and actions that are just as catabolic. Sami would like to see: 1) A permanent land based center to showcase AL s works. 2) An established school where folks can come and study the magickal arts for the purpose of blessing our membership and humanity. 3) A vibrant growing membership. 4) Qualified fun loving staff with enhanced services to the membership. 5) Re-publishing and enhancing AL s works while creating new courses, songs, books. PROGRESS REPORT-- Spiritual Science and ESP LAB. Our dear Al made his transition to the Spirit World full time on April 8th, 2006, almost 10 years ago. You can read my short tribute to him from then on our website at: Al is still with us as he came in today to say,"have FUN!! WIN BIG!" as we were finishing the newsletter. We continue to seek to preserve and enhance his legacy and I am sure Al is proud of each member and those who have been active since he left his body behind. I am sure he also respects and appreciates the efforts to secure the tax exemption on the new corporation and of course all existing lab members in good standing are welcome to participate. We love seeing the ice and snow melt and the grass is greening and the sweet peas are coming up. Lots of birds in the yard now, and hearing the geese cry at the river is inspirational. Spring is a time for enthusiasm and we are enthused with the renewal of LIFE. Thanks much for the LOVE, FRIENDSHIP, and SUPPORT of our core membership with guests.
