Prayer of Confession Your saving love in Jesus Christ is so much a part of our lives that we take it for granted, O God. We know that you call us to live in imitation of that love, but we confess to you that we are often sidetracked in different directions. It is easier to focus on ourselves and our material desires than it is to seek out others in need of your life altering grace. Forgive us, we pray, for our wrongheaded priorities. Help us to be those who offer your limitless care in Christ to all in need; We pray in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. [Silent Prayer]

As beloved children let us be imitators of God, presenting our gifts as a fragrant offering and sacrifice, through Christ our Lord. *Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below Praise him above ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. Prayer of Thanksgiving/Dedication We are so grateful to you, Lord God, for all that you have given us: This wonderful Earth, the love of family and friends, the joys of living in community. Most of all, we are grateful for the gift of your Son, who came among us as your Bread of Heaven, filling our hearts with your saving love. Help us to share that Bread with those in need; under your Mercy, even Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen. John 6:35 (NIV) 35 Then Jesus declared, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

5 John 6:41-51 (NIV) 41 At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, I am the bread that came down from heaven. 42 They said, Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, I came down from heaven? 43 Stop grumbling among yourselves, Jesus answered. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets: They will all be taught by God. Peter Blank is Knox s Temporary Supply Pastor. He and his wife Diana arrived in Spokane last August to help take care of Diana s aging father. Peter has previously served congregations in central California, rural Nevada and NW Oregon. After arriving, he has been busy

7 training and becoming licensed as a Home Inspector in the Spokane area. Peter has a passion for learning and discipleship training. He is graduate of Pacific Lutheran University and Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary. With Diana, they have 5 grown children in their blended family scattered along the west coast; as pet lovers, they have two dogs and a cat. They love the Spokane area for outdoor hikes and lakeside fun. Today s Lectionary Readings 2 Samuel 18:5-9 Ephesians 4:25-5:2 Psalm 130 John 6: 35, Question for Reflection Have you ever experienced bitterness, wrath, anger, wrangling, slander, or malice in yourself or from others? How do you overcome it and find the grace to forgive? Household Prayer: Morning God of the morning watches, my soul waits for you, and I hope in your word. Bread of life, nourish, strengthen, and accompany me throughout this day, that I may labor honestly, share with the needy, and imitate your love. Amen. Household Prayer: Evening God of peace, I have struggled through the battle of life this day. If you should mark my iniquities, how can I stand? But there is forgiveness with you. Let your steadfast love cleanse, comfort, and keep me safe through this night. Amen.
