October is so lovely in Michigan, I hope we all make the time to go outdoors and soak in the spirit of nature. It is a proven fact that beauty is more than just eye candy.

1 First Metaphysical Church October 2015 Newsletter October seems like such a festive month! The beautiful autumn leaves, pumpkins and fall decorations make this a very merry time of the year. All the harvest fruits and veggies, cider and donuts add flavor and variety to our meals and potlucks. Halloween parties and rituals give kids and adults a reason to go all out and let the fun begin! As we feel the wheel of the year turn, we turn inward to our homes and ourselves. We take stock of the year past and remember our passed friends and loved ones as the veil between the worlds grows thinner. October is so lovely in Michigan, I hope we all make the time to go outdoors and soak in the spirit of nature. It is a proven fact that beauty is more than just eye candy. It has a wonderful effect on our stress levels, moods, and well being! I truly believe that our spiritual exchange with the trees, growing things and wild creatures is necessary for human mental balance. We are not separate from nature we are part of the natural world. Without the balance of nature people can get easily depressed or out of sorts. So get out there and find some colorful leaves to press in a book, carve a pumpkin or bake an apple cobbler. Annual Youth Outing to the Pumpkin Patch We will meet at the church on Oct 11th at 4 pm in the parking lot and car pool to Porter's Orchard in Goodrich at 12060 Hegel Rd.

2 Annual Youth Outing to the Pumpkin Patch We will meet at the church on Oct 11th at 4 pm in the parking lot and car pool to Porter's Orchard in Goodrich at Hegel Rd. We will pay for each child to get a pumpkin and ride the hayride $8 ea. They have a playground, animals and other fun for the kids to enjoy. We will stay out there till close 7 pm and coming back to the church during service to eat cider and donuts!! Sign up this Sunday so we know who is going and how many kids. Parents are welcome to come with us, but can stay back and enjoy service. Hosted by Rev Nicky and Rev Sherry Costumes encouraged, but not required. All ages welcomed 0-90!

3 HORROR MOVIE FEST Starting out the night with a vampire movie NOSFERATU 7:00 pm Followed by HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL 8:30 pm Next is ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES 10:00 pm All movies are RATED G except the EXORCIST and EXORCIST V Rated R showing at 12 midnight and 1:30 am Saturday October 24 th 7pm to 7am NO COST Bring sleeping bags, snacks, etc. Lots of scary fun!

5 ******ONGOING AT HARMONY HALL**** Native Indian Drumming and Teachings with Gaylord Brooks First and third Tuesdays. Learn Native Indian History and Culture, drum rhythms, percussion beats for beginners and advance drummers. Love donations. October 6 th and 20 th. with the Reverends! Every Thursday a different Reverend of First Metaphysical Church hosts our meditation. Every night is a different theme and a new and different way to meditate. Join us every Thursday of the month at 7pm to 8:30pm. Love donations. Pot Luck AND Drumming Circle Sunday, October 25th. Gather with us before Sunday service to drum and enjoy our singing bowls. It will be spent in the dark incorporating the energies of the moon. 9 KROGER FREE MONEY We received a check from our Kroger Community Awards for 2nd quarter May-July of $27.94 with only 4 families being signed up. This is a community program Kroger offers and it doesn't affect your discounts in any way. If you are a Kroger shopper, go online and sign up to have your card link to the church and you will also being helping us to receive more free money! It is easy to create a Kroger account and find the church name and link them up. Just set up your address and your card number or phone number. In account summary at the bottom go to community awards, Enroll, Find your organization search, click the button and Save. You only have to link the church once through the year and every time you scan your card you are helping us too!! You can also go on and put digital coupons on your card and get a Free Friday item every week by loading it on your card. Like them on Face book or upload the app to be able to do them weekly. WE NOW OFFER YOU THE ABILITY TO USE YOUR CREDIT CARD We now have The Square to take credit and dept cards!!! We have the Square set up and running for our church for donations and purchases. If you want to give a donation but don't carry cash we can now receive it by running your card the night of classes or services or Love donations. We will use this for all our monthly psychic fairs and to purchase anything like shirts, books, oils or any other merchandise the church sells. The monies go directly into the church's account and is very secure. We are happy to be able to offer this new service to you. Board Elections are coming in January In order to vote in this election you must be a registered member of FMC by October 18 st, Please fill out a form from the front table and give it to a Board Trustee to become a member. Questions? 1. What is meant by member in good standing? A member in good standing is a member who attends church on Sunday nights, 50% of the time (records kept in sign-in sheet). 2. What is meant by a Minister in good standing? A minister in good standing is an active minister that attends church on Sunday nights, 75% of the time (records kept in sign-in sheet). 3. What is a back-ground check? We belong to the ICHAT Michigan State Police background check organization. These are free to us because we are a non-profit organization. Anyone wanting to run for an office position must pass the check before being allowed on ballot in January.
