BFT Update Dec. 10 Jan. 11 The Bible For Today Ministries 900 Park Avenue Collingswood, New Jersey WEB PAGE: www. BibleForToday.org Pastor D. A. Waite Preaching in Decatur Michigan October 10-13, 2010 Phones: , order-phone only: John 10:9 Attend Dean Burgon Society Meetings (7/27-28/ 11) in Collingswood, NJ PRECEPT UPON PRECEPT & LINE UPON LINE TO MICHIGAN AGAIN Wi so much going on now and wi so much at went on since last I wrote, I am in a quandary wondering where to begin! Of course, I have e mistaken notion at you readers are just as interested as I am in e places we have been and e ings at we do. Let s see if I can remember In October 2010 e 10 to e 13 we were wi PASTOR & MRS. TOM STOUT in DECATUR, MICHIGAN at e VOLENIA BAPTIST CHURCH. WE HAVE THESE TEACHINGS IN DVD, OR CASSETTE FORM FOR YOU. (BFT $7.00 S&H ) My husband taught ose MICHIGANDERS about THE DEFENSE OF THE KING JAMES BIBLE & IT UNDERLYING GREEK & HEBREW TEXTS. Did you know at Dr. Waite graduated from THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN? Even ough it was e second time he had been wi e friends ere, having been in
2 BFT UPDATE/Dec Jan. 2011, From Yvonne S. Waite 900 Park Ave. Collingswood, NJ Decatur a little less an two years ago, THE PEOPLE WERE EAGER FOR SUCH A REVIEW! It was most satisfying to have many, who heard him last year, exclaim how much better ey understood e subject is year. Last time e people ate up e teaching and bought so many books at I wondered how ey would want to hear my husband again on e same subject so soon. It was e same is year interest & books! The pastor told my husband at e last time Dr. Waite was at VOLENIA at ose meetings had e most response and results an any oer special speaker at PASTOR STOUT had ever had in his church before. That was a surprising statement. He s been ere for twenty years, at least. Personally, it was a delight for me to see how ey had been studying is subject all is time. Many of e people told Dr. Waite how much more ey understood what he was talking about is year. To be truful, I know exactly how ey felt, because when I first went on meeting wi Dr. Waite, his defense of e KJB was like Greek to me, too! YES, THE BIBLE IS RIGHT WHEN IT SPEAKS OF PRECEPT UPON PRECEPT AND LINE UPON LINE... But e word of e LORD was unto em precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and ere a little... (Isaiah 28:13) One of e reasons at I enjoy being at VOLENIA BAPTIST is Mrs. Stout. She and I have much in common, even ough I am old enough to be her moer. (How can at be?) Not only is she e moer of seven adult children I of five she likes to write. In fact, she writes Christian fiction, and does it well! Marilyn takes Bible characters and fills in e blanks of eir lives wi her inventive pen. So, we have much in common to chat about. Even ough she had just had a hip replacement her second since last I saw her--she was up to my chatter. At least she said she was. Right now she is creating a life for e Apostle Peter s wife. I never really ought much about Mrs. Peter and what she was doing and inking when her husband abandoned his day job to follow Jesus. Had you? Visiting wi e Pastor and his wife, as well as his assistant, was good. One of e joys of being in churches wi my husband when he preaches is e fellowship we share wi e host pastor. Having been wi e Stouts before, it was like visiting relatives. The motel was familiar and e girls behind e desk were friendly like family. Having seen e motel s indoor pool last year, I decide to take advantage of it is year. Really enjoyed e exercise and relaxation at pool gave me. Wish I had one of my own! I would go in it every day except Sunday! AN AFTERNOON WITH FRIENDS THE LAST TIME WE SAW STACEY Years ago, my husband had been invited to give his BIBLICAL DEFENSE PRESENTATION to a church in nearby Dowagiac. At e time, Dr. Waite was asked to preach at STACEY WILDER S ordination service. I remember it well. The last time we were in e Decatur area, Stacey, who assists his faer-in-law/pastor, was in e rows of his broer s sudden dea. So we could not see him. This time, I was determined, to look him up, as he and our son, Daniel Waite, were good friends and in each oer s weddings. WHAT A DELIGHTFUL VISIT! Pastor W ilder & his wife brought ree of eir children two teens and a boy about nine--to meet us. The oldest son is in college. I loved seeing em! It was SO GOOD to catch up on eir lives. They have had some difficult years wi deas, personal sickness, and eir Pastor s heal! STACEY STILL STANDS FOR THE RECEIVED TEXT, as well as e church where he has ministered all ese years! He reminisced about his and our son s years in college. You know how it is wi a moer --no matter how old her child is-- she is interested in any news past, present, or future.
BFT UPDATE/Dec Jan. 2011, From Yvonne S. Waite 900 Park Ave. Collingswood, NJ LUNCH WITH THE McMURRAYS FROM KALAMAZOO After at visit, we drove right over to a near-by restaurant. We and PASTOR & M RS. REX McMURRAY from KALAMAZOO had a lunch togeer. It was fun! They are interested and informed senior citizens! Mrs. McMurray was most enchanting. My husband said she was like me speaking up and giving her opinions. What a delightful day! But, I will admit I got extra tired! As I am writing is today, I can t help but ink of at popular song played by Glenn Miller when I was in high school: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H I GOT A GAL IN KALAMAZOO! I wonder if Pastor McMurray ever sang at to her! He certainly must have and probably still does!. FANNY CROSBY ALIVE & WELL W ell, she isn t exactly alive on ear for she died in February, 1915 a mon shy of 95 years of age. If you have been wi us here at THE BIBLE FOR TODAY MINISTRIES for years back, when my husband wrote his BIBLE FOR TODAY NEWSREPORT, you will remember at I portrayed e blind hymn writer for many years from 1978 on. The TRIBUTE began in our local church. (We did not have a house church back en when e West was young.) In ose days, I would give THE TRIBUTE TO FANNY CROSBY one or two times a week in nearby, as well as far-away, churches. It was an exciting time for me and my husband. He was e narrator and my chauffeur. (Sometimes I would drive myself, but not often.) W e would fly or drive--depending. I gave it, along wi THE PORTRAIT TO FRANCES HAVERGAL, in Singapore to a ousand people. I also portrayed her in West Africa and Korea, as well as Canada and e USA. Fanny was blind and a prolific hymn and gospel song composer. She wrote BLESSED ASSURANCE, TO GOD BE THE GLORY, and PASS ME NOT to mention a few. Recently I was praying to God, wondering if FANNY CROSBY had dried up in my life. I prayed, God, could I do it a few more times? A couple weeks later, a woman called m e wanting me to portray e blind lady of songs to her senior citizen group. I asked for e church s doctrinal statement which may or may not be forcoming. But I was encouraged at God was working as far as THE TRIBUTE was concerned. Not many people sing FANNY CROSBY songs anymore. W i all e new praise choruses and inharmonic songs at are sung in many churches today, her work is becoming antiquated. So it was wi joy at recently I accepted an invitation to e HARDINGVILLE BIBLE CHURCH SENIOR SAINTS LUNCHEON in nearby Sou Jersey e oer Thursday. Then just is week a friend asked me to come portray e auor of SAFE IN THE ARMS OF JESUS for her Christmas ladies dinner in Hamonton, New Jersey. I AM THRILLED HOW GOD IS ANSWERING THIS PRAYER OF MINE. The oer day, as I portrayed her, it was like meeting an old friend again. I must say I was moved at Fanny s life once more. She was not perfect; but she was yielded to her Lord and Saviour to use her talent for Him. How at speaks to me not to give up, but to continue to use any talent at God has given me for His glory, come what may. One of my faer s favorite songs was written by is flag-waving woman such a proud American! Never be sad or desponding If ou has fai to believe; Grace for e duties before ee, Ask of y God and receive. What if y burdens oppress ee; What o y life may be drear; Look on e side at is brightest, Pray, and y pa will be clear. (By Fanny Crosby)
4 BFT UPDATE/Dec Jan. 2011, From Yvonne S. Waite 900 Park Ave. Collingswood, NJ A NEW PUBLISHED BOOKS SINCE LAST UPDATE HUSBAND-LOVING LESSONS by YVONNE S. WAITE Taken from e perfect MARRIAGE MANUAL BFT $ $7.00 S&H. Always remember at GOD S instructions to woman, a wife, are for her and her only. She should not be concerned wi e instructions given to e man, her husband. It is her duty to follow e wife s rules and it is her husband s duty to follow e husband s rules. If her mate does not respond to God s commands, is is not her fault, nor should she row e fact up to e husband. Her concern is to keep her part of e bargain. 7 BFT UPDATE/Dec Jan. 2011, From Yvonne S. Waite 900 Park Ave. Collingswood, NJ THE WAITES Berea, Ohio REUNION TRIP CONTINUED Part #2 THEN OFF TO 433" MY HUSBAND S HOUSE THE GREEN SHUTTERS WERE GONE 433" WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT! THE GRASS AND THE BUSHES NEEDED ATTENTION! THE BEAUTIFUL SCREENED-IN-PORCH WAS SCREENLESS. THE DRIVEWAY HAD AN OLD CAR PARKED IN IT! That boered my husband even ough we have old cars parked in ours. THE WHOLE PLACE LOOKED LONELY, EMPTY, AND TIRED! BUT MOST OF ALL THE GREEN SHUTTERS WERE GONE! THE SAD FACT WAS THAT THE PERSONALITY OF THE HOUSE HAD FADED AWAY. THIS WAS THE HOUSE THAT MY HUSBAND LIVED IN DURING ALL HIS HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE YEARS. THIS WAS THE HOUSE THAT HE BROUGHT ME HOME TO IN OUR EARLY MARRIED YEARS. It is not e same. Of course, it isn t for, e Waites have not made it home for many decades. It is no longer e WAITE HOUSE! It belongs to someone else! THE GLORY HAD DEPARTED DANGLING NEAR THE FRONT DOOR WAS THE ADDRESS, 433"! MY HUSBAND HAD MADE THOSE WOODEN NUMBERS IN SHOP AT SCHOOL MANY YEARS AGO. It was disappointing to see his handiwork hanging ere, all alone on at lonely, forlorn house. It seemed to us at e glory had departed. We were sorry we had stopped by. EVEN THOUGH THINGS LOOKED SO DIFFERENT! THE STREET WAS STILL THERE! SO WAS 433! YET, THE BEAUTY AND GRANGER OF THE HOUSE MY HUSBAND KNEW AS A TEEN & COLLEGE YOUTH HAD FADED AWAY. IT LACKED THE HELEN TOUCH! I DON T KNOW IF IT WAS BECAUSE SEVERAL TINY HOUSES HAD BEEN BUILT ON THE EMPTY LOTS NEAR THE DRIVEWAY SIDE, or because e CLEVELAND BROWNS had practice property at e dead end of e street, it was different! Across e street, e houses were familiar even ough e neighbors must have died. Mom Waite had befriended all of em. The houses to e oer side were ere, too. Down e street, a block or two, was where Hank, my husband s sister s husband, grew up. His house looked forlorn. His moer had died when he was a boy and much responsibility fell on his shoulders being e oldest child in e family.
8 BFT UPDATE/Dec Jan. 2011, From Yvonne S. Waite 900 Park Ave. Collingswood, NJ MY GRANDMA S HOUSE AFTER CHURCH SUNDAY NIGHT, WE STOPPED BY MY GRANDMOTHER S HOUSE ON DAISY AVENUE. It was easy to find. It is off of FRONT STREET and near e old building at used to be BEREA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL. That s e hospital where many of my loved ones died my Grandpa Barker and my sister, Audrey. and oers. The last time we were in Berea, we stopped by Grandma s. The whole street looked so poor and in need of some happiness. EVEN MILO S HOUSE LOOKED GOOD THIS TIME WAS DIFFERENT! PERHAPS IT WAS BECAUSE IT W AS ALMOST DARK AND DIFFICULT TO SEE, THAT THE STREET LOOKED MORE CHEERFUL AND GRANDMA S HOUSE LOOKED MUCH BETTER. Maybe a new owner took over e property and spruced it up a bit. I was glad to see e street happier. Even across e street, MILO S HOUSE had been enlarged. When David, our son, was alive, I always wanted to get him a place like MILO S. Perhaps because I remember bearded MILO. He was a different man who stayed by himself. Grandpa was nice to him. I can still see Milo sitting on his front porch doing noing. Then Grandpa would call, Hello Milo! How are you today? Milo said he was fine. Milo always was fine -- even when he wasn t! CLARENCE SITTING ON HIS PORCH WE W ENT OVER TO EAST BRIDGE DRIVE TO VISIT CLARENCE AND TERRY JANDECKA. It was a cool summer s afternoon just right for sitting on e porch. I love seeing e Jandecka s yard. If I didn t know at houses were on every side & and across e street, seeing e red barn and e side yard, I would ink we were on a country farm in e late 1800's. As we sat ere, we caught up on e Jandeckas lives, eir children, and eir concerns. Recently dear Clarence had a pace maker implanted. His heart is bad. He remembered our high school days and Uncle Charlie s name. We learned how difficult it was for him to walk from his chair to e kitchen. W e enjoyed vivacious Terry s care and love for her husband. Praise God for a good wife! THAT WAS A SATURDAY! Never give up to y sorrows, Jesus will bid em depart; Trust in e Lord, Trust in e Lord, Sing when your trials are greatest, Trust in e Lord and take heart. (Fanny Crosby) THERE HAVE BEEN MANY BLESSINGS & TESTINGS IN 2010! So wi you--if you have walked wi e Lord. We know at wi God, ere are no surprises. Things happen to us and knock us off guard for a brief day or two, but our comfort & hope is in THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT & THE FATHER OF MERCIES! HAD A BLESSED TIM E WITH OUR WAITE CHILDREN ON THANKSGIVING! Just had to tell you about it. Our boys, Don and Dick, & our grandsons Rich, Jake & Justin dove wi eir families from Maryland in at dreadful Thanksgiving traffic to be wi Grandpa and me, as well as wi our Collingswood son, DANIEL and his wife and daughter here In New Jersey. Dianne & her family could not come. We missed Grandson Jon, too, who had to work and, of course, is moer s heart missed David. For me--e GREAT GRANDMOTHER-- having our precious GREATS here was a gift! Darling little boys, wi a girl or ree rown in e group to add spice. There ey were, running around, hiding under tables, being shy, and laughing at private jokes! Of course, ere was a tear or two. Then ere was one new baby his name is Zackary. Our granddaughter has four right in a row! Zackary is two mons old. I could hold him all day as he smiled and cooed at me. There is noing like holding a baby to bring comfort to a lonely heart.
