Box 1533 Highland Park NJ (732) Since the last issue of this article, the following has occurred: The congregation voted that the top eight inches of the new mechitza panels will be a solid transparent material such as glass, and the middle 28 inches will be bus film applied to glass. Manufacturing of the mechitza is expected to be completed in December. The platform will be removed, new carpeting installed, and the new mechitza installed prior to installation of the new benches in January. Installation of the stained glass windows in the main shul has begun. It is expected that the remaining stained glass windows will be installed within the next two week. Installation of the etched glass for the center bimah has begun and will be completed shortly. It is expected that the Aron Kodesh in the main shul will be fully assembled within the next month. Baseboards were installed in the social hall, and the new heating units will be painted soon. A wood frame has been installed around the TV monitor in the hallway. The shelves and rods have been installed in the main coat room. Additional baseboard work has begun in the hallway. It is important that pledges be paid promptly. If you are planning to pay a portion of your dedication next year, please consider accelerating your payment into this year. Donate on the website MATAN BAT MITZVAH Congregation Ahavas Achim invites Sixth Grade girls and their mothers to participate in Matan Bat Mitzvah a program popular all over the world. Thousands of mothers and daughters have enjoyed the learning, themed Jewish Women Through the Ages. The program focuses on Jewish role models, from the Imahot through modern-day heroines. Each meeting pairs learning with an experiential activity such as music, theater, art, and guided imagery. Each girl is encouraged to prepare a special project for her Bat Mitzvah on the subject, Aishet Chayil, selecting a woman from Tanakh or history, a family member or any other inspiring woman. The program will be facilitated by Gila Miodownik. It will meet in the Ahavas Achim Social Hall on the following Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm: October 16, 23, November 6, 13, 20, 27, December 11, 18, January 8, 15. Registration is $100 per mother/daughter team. Scholarships available. Registration deadline is Oct 6 and a minimum of 5 groups is required in order to run this program.
