Read the report below and then answer questions RENT A BIKE* by Carol Peters People who live and work in Boston will soon be able to rent a bike and use it to get around the city. A new company, called SmartBike, will make this possible. The company will put 500 bikes at ten different locations in the city. 5 Jim Stone, the manager of the company, believes that many people will rent bikes. "SmartBike will solve some of the city's traffic and parking problems. People will use the bikes to get to work or do their shopping," he says. "All our bikes have big baskets to carry packages. People can also use the bikes just for fun. We have one kind of bike and it is very easy to ride." 10 Only members of SmartBike can rent a bike. To become a member you have to pay $100 a year. Members will be able to rent a bike in one place and return it in a different location. They may use the bike for the whole day. Many cities in Europe have successful "Rent a Bike" programs. However, people often steal the bikes. "That is why, we will put special locks on our bikes and give every member a code which unlocks the bikes," says Jim Stone. 15 "We hope the company will be successful.
