1 October 9, 2016 Our History: SAVAGE STREET Church of Christ That we all might know God did it The Lord God fills the needs of the poor, but He does it in such a way that they and all who hear of it, might know that He did it, The poor and needy seek water, but there is none, Their tongues fail for thirst. I, the Lord, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. I will open rivers in desolate heights, And fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, And the dry land springs of water. I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the acacia tree, The myrtle and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the cypress tree and the pine And the box tree together, That they may see and know, And consider and understand together, That the hand of the Lord has done this, And the Holy One of Israel has created it. (Isaiah ) Do you acknowledge that the good things you have in life and life itself, come from the Lord God we read of in the Bible? DR From darkness to light We give thanks to the Father, because in His blessed Son Jesus Christ, He did wonderful things for us, He has delivered us from the power of darkness The Savage Street Church of Christ began on March 4, 1923 at 6th and H Streets. After sometime on Evelyn Street, we moved to our present location on March 20, 1960 and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians ). The power of darkness had a death grip on us from which we could not escape, but the Father delivered us from that awesome grip, and He did another wonderful thing and put us into the Kingdom of Jesus! We can be in the Kingdom of Christ because Jesus redeemed us with His blood on the cross, which made possible the forgiveness of our sins. Deliverance from the power of darkness Conveyance into the Kingdom of Christ Redemption through the blood of Christ The forgiveness of our sins Think on these blessings and see just how wonderful God has been to us. The Spirit is omniscient, all knowing (1Co ). Therefore, the Holy Spirit is divine. 3 From the Executive Director... Mountain States Children s Home has reached a major milestone with the completion of our new cottage. The long awaited and highly anticipated addition will allow us to reach more children and their families. It has been determined that it will be a girl s cottage and we are in the Randy Schow process of accepting applications to fill these new beds. We give thanks to God for the successful completion of this project and for all who have been involved either through prayers, volunteering, or by giving financially. With the completion of this goal, we now move on to the next challenge of meeting the operational needs that come with an additional cottage. Our expenses for payroll, vehicles, insurance, utilities, food, clothing, medical, etc. will all increase. These are expenses that tend to be more difficult to raise funds for, but are absolutely necessary for us to change the lives of children. I pray you will consider increasing your support and encourage others to look at this ministry as a worthy cause to support. We will need your prayers and financial support to touch the lives of the additional children who will benefit from our work. Thank you for being there for our children. In His Service, Words From Walter Williams Director of Capital Advancement When making a donation to a charitable organization, most of us know that the gift is tax-deductible. We also know that the real reason we donate is more than a taxdeduction, instead we give because it makes us feel great - knowing that children are experiencing hope and happiness as a result of the gift. Since our founding in 1960, general non-specific donations were used to build new cottages, pay bills and buy basic items for the children being served. Today, a contribution toward our general operating fund is more important than ever. While MSCH does in fact need a new passenger van, a contribution to our general operating fund pays utility bills, funds professional programs, maintains campus vehicles plus provides a host of basic operational needs. As 2016 approaches an end, consider an end-of-year gift to support our general operating fund. While it may not be one specific item, our general operating fund is what keeps us operating and able to continue serving these precious children. Mountain States Children s Home encourages donors to increase their gift amount and benefit from a 50% Colorado Tax Credit. The credit is available to donors who make monetary contributions to Mountain States Children s Home. The Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit was established to encourage important private support of Colorado child care programs, like those provided by Mountain States Children s Home. Monetary contributions to MSCH qualify for this tax credit, so you may be able to decrease the after-tax cost of your gifts by more than 50 percent. The effect of the credit is that half of your donation to MSCH is offset by a reduction of your Colorado income taxes. In addition, if you itemize deductions on your tax forms, you will be able to claim your full contribution as a charitable deduction on your Federal and State income tax returns. You should always consult with your tax advisor to determine how the credit will affect you personally.
