1 February 11, 2018; Volume 95, Number 6 SAVAGE STREET Church of Christ Our History: The Savage Street Church of Christ began on March 4, 1923 at 6th and H Streets. After sometime on Evelyn Street, we moved to our present location on March 20, Join us in 2023 when we celebrate our 100th anniversary! Something might be distasteful, but that does not make it wrong As the Lord instructed the Moses on how the priests were to examine someone for leprosy, He said this about baldness in a man, As for the man whose hair has fallen from his head, he is bald, but he is clean. He whose hair has fallen from his forehead, he is bald on the forehead, but he is clean. And if there is on the bald head or bald forehead a reddish-white sore, it is leprosy breaking out on his bald head or his bald forehead. Then the priest shall examine it; and indeed if the swelling of the sore is reddishwhite on his bald head or on his bald forehead, as the appearance of leprosy on the skin of the body, he is a leprous man. He is unclean. The priest shall surely pronounce him unclean; his sore is on his head (Leviticus ). If a man lost his hair, while it was not desired, that did not mean that he had something wrong with him, but if the priest examined him and found potential evidence of leprosy, then they had to follow certain procedures. Most men I know do not want to go bald, nevertheless, we consider it part of aging and that is life. We do not like it, but what else can we do? Arthur Pink Something that made Jesus a man of sorrows Jesus declared boldly to His disciples what they would do later the same night that He spoke to them, and He quoted Scripture to show that their actions had been foretold centuries before, Then Jesus said to them, All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered. (Matt 26.31). He loved those men. Yet, He also loved God and loved the word of God. He knew that the Scriptures spoke the truth, and so He declared it. Oh how that must have filled His heart with sorrow. 2 Chimala Mission, Hospital, and Schools January 2018 Tanzania Report From The Coordinator Cyndi and I were once again blessed to get to be at the mission during January. January has always been one of my favorite times of the year to be at the mission. It is the rainy season, which brings mild temperatures and green plants everywhere. All of our schools start back up and there is always a lot of activity taking place every day around the mission. We have spent time at all three of our schools and down at the hospital. As you will read inside, improvements continue to be made in all areas. But there are challenges. When you have around 700 mouths to feed daily, the biggest challenge can be having the funds for food. It has been our dream for some time to be able to grow and raise enough food on the mission to help lower our food bill and give the students a better balanced diet. I was privileged to meet with Gage Coldwater while here this time. He is an amazing person when it comes to knowledge of how to produce food in third world countries such as Tanzania. When I returned from our meeting I explained some of his ideas to the teachers, they are very excited to see his recommendations become a reality. We will need funds to start up these projects, but once started it will be a self sustaining work. I hope to share more info in the upcoming months, as to how much we need to get started. We plan to take the first step by starting to raise rabbits in the next few weeks. Please keep this work in your prayers. Bill Stinson Tribute to Robert Stapleton As many of you have already learned, Brother Robert Stapleton passed from this life into eternity with our Heavenly Father on December 31, Bob (what I always knew him as) was someone that I personally always looked up to. He was a great example as a Christian. He loved God, the church, his family, and loved serving God by teaching others about Christ and His church. He loved to train men to be Gospel Preachers and he loved Chimala Mission. He was known by many as Chimala Bob. He spent approximately seven years working in Chimala full time as the Mission Administrator. He then returned to Texas and spent four more years working as the Stateside Coordinator. He will be dearly missed by all.

Can animals go into hibernation only under highly exacting conditions? 3. Would the constant motion of the Ark have prevented the Ark animals from hibernating? 4. If awakened during hibernation, would the Ark animals die, especially if awakened repeatedly? 5. Would the oceans have gotten intolerably hot for marine life as a result of volcanic action during the Flood? 6. Were the waters on earth much too muddy during the Flood for anything to have survived in them? 7. Since most freshwater fish do not tolerate saltwater, and most marine fish do not tolerate freshwater, how could both kinds of fish have survived the Flood? 8. Since amphibians are very fragile creatures, how could they have survived the Flood? 9. Would any salt left behind on land (after the floodwaters had drained off) have posed a problem for plant growth? 10. Since most seeds do not float, how could plants have survived the Flood? 11. If the seeds became soaked during the Flood, would not the plants all have germinated prematurely, and suffocated? 12. How could plants that have specialized pollinators reproduce after the Flood? 13. Once the roof covering of the Ark had been removed by Noah, were the animals exposed to the hostile elements? 14. What is one obvious reason for God having re-instilled the fear of man in animals (Genesis 9.2 3)? 15. What are some advantages of the Ark having landed in a mountainous region instead of on a plain? 16. What was there for animals to eat (besides each other) once they got off the Ark? 17. How long did it take for the first food chains to re-establish themselves after the Flood? 18. How could animals that breed only when in flocks have reproduced themselves from single-pair founders released from the Ark? 19. Can single-pair founders give rise to lasting populations?

Perhaps he is your enemy precisely because he can find nothing in you that gives glory to God. Thomas Merton Why Do Evolutionists Care? If pandas had already gone extinct, then we could clearly live without them. However, given that humanity has a mandate from Genesis 1 of stewardship of the Earth and its resources; it is certainly admirable to attempt to preserve what we have in the way of panda populations. The concept of panda extinction is inconsistent for evolutionists. A hard-line evolutionist should want them to die out because, in the survival of the fittest stakes, pandas have proved themselves less fit. Yet most people, while holding evolutionary philosophy, would rather try to take steps to preserve the cuddly looking giants. It is only those taking a biblical worldview who can view the subject with any degree of rationality. Animals are only animals. When they die, their souls return to the ground. Yet, the survival of pandas has only occurred because of massive human effort effort that is not wrong and can indeed be justified from Scripture.
