The short answer portion is Day One, January 23rd and the 50 MC question exam will be on Day Two, January 24th. Complete the information below to help prepare you for your exam. Day One: January 23rd - Subjective Final Exam For the subjective part of your exam, be prepared to answer the following questions. Each question comes from one of the units we have studied this year. There are many different answers for these questions and your responses will be graded on clarity, accuracy, support and insight. How can new ideas influence politics, economics and culture to shape history? This was a focus question for The Renaissance. Please explain and give support for your answer. Exchanges of plants, animals, diseases and technology transformed European and Native American ways of life. Advancements in agricultural production increased mortality rates. Define imperialism and what are the primary causes and effects of imperialism? Imperialism is when a stronger country takes over a weaker country or the practice of extending a nation s power by gaining territories for a colonial empire. The primary cause for imperialism was economic causes: The search for raw material and like rubber, oil, tin for industry and the search for new markets to sell finished goods. Imperialism increased the wealth of the colonizing powers often increased at the expense of their colonies. Sadly, imperialism affected 90% of the continent of Africa. Social Darwinists viewed the mining of natural resources in these colonized lands as their right to take what they wanted. What are characteristics (beliefs) of capitalism? As the industrial revolution became a global process, industrial nations developed a need to expand their markets, a need for industrial raw materials and advancements in communications and transportation.
