3 Dear Fellow Parishioners, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams and your young men will see visions. (Joel 2:28) This passage rings in my head these last few months as I enter the third decade of my ministry to God and to you all here at Holy Trinity. I can t help but to wonder; what mark will our generation leave upon the history of Holy Trinity, and its more than 80 year history? When our children become adults and look back to measure our success, growth or even demise of the parish, what will they say about us? Did we manage our parish well? Did we grow God s church in a proper and fitting way? Did we make the doors of our Orthodox Community wider? Or did we just hope that everyone else would work a little harder on our behalf to keep Holy Trinity s doors open for whenever we decided to go to Church?!? In reality, the Church is God s Church; divinely inspired.but humanly administered. We are but instruments in God s orchestra with the job of perpetuating His Love and Mercy towards all who walk through our doors at 10 Mill Road. In that case, what should our goal be for the upcoming Ecclesiastical year at Holy Trinity? Religiously speaking; let s keep studying the Faith, practicing our Orthodoxy with a spirit of zeal and thirst for knowledge of Christ! Let s keep alive our desire to practice the Sacraments of the Church with the traditions that we have been taught and the knowledge that we are receiving. Speaking of Parish; let s make Holy Trinity a welcoming Community for all who wish to call Holy Trinity their parish. We need to say good morning to those whom we don t know sitting in the pew next to us, in front and behind us every Sunday. WE NEED TO FILL OUR PEWS EVERY SUNDAY so we too can learn about God through the Gospel, the sermons, and the hymnography as one Community. We need to pray for each other in the Liturgy so that we can sincerely act as a parish that is in communion with God. Personally speaking; let s work on our role as parishioner of a parish and become a very needed spoke of a balanced wheel that roles smoothly. Can we make Holy Trinity the major part of our religious life and the lives of our children and parents? Please help and push me to dream dreams and see visions for the future of a Parish that strives to bring God closer to His people during a time when Christianity is being challenged and even using God s name is criticized and frowned upon. In His Love and Service,

6 June 2017 Dear Fellow Parishioners, Our 2017 Festival will be held from Thursday, September 7th through Sunday, September 10th. This huge event is a major fundraiser for our church, and the proceeds go towards our many monetary expenses and obligations. Monetary donations are a way to both decrease our Festival expenses, such as tent and tables/chair rentals, baking ingredients, dry goods, etc., and increase our net profit. Please note that even with one rainout day, last year, over 10,000 people attended our 4 day event, with a great majority going through our main tent, the Taverna. We have three ways you can help: 1) Platinum Sponsor ($500 or more): Your name/business name will be prominently displayed in multiple areas during the Festival on a special sign in the Taverna identifying you as a Platinum Sponsor A special banner will hang prominently outside one our buildings identifying all the Platinum Sponsors Food tray placemats in the Taverna will be printed with your name/business name (can use a business card) During the four days of the Festival, periodically, the DJ will announce and recognize each of the Platinum Sponsors After the festival: The Trinitarian will have a special page dedicated to our Platinum Sponsors. The Trinitarian is sent to all our parishioners. Our website, holytrinity-nr.church, will herald you on the Home page as a Platinum Sponsor. 2) Gold Sponsorship ($150 or more): Your name will be printed on a sign under our main Taverna Tent with a gold star in the text area Your name will be displayed on a large banner on the church grounds during the festival 3) Tent Sponsorship ($100 or more): Your name will be printed on a sign under our main Taverna All donations are tax deductible. Please use the form on the back of this letter to indicate your preference; all forms can be left in the church office. We thank you for your continued assistance in either of the above categories. Please feel free to contact us directly at , or contact the church office with any questions at Sincerely, Festival Tent Sponsorship Committee John Dos Santos

20 Feeding the Hungry Once a month, we serve about 125 meals to the homeless in Manhattan, cook for a New Rochelle soup kitchen and provide hundreds of pounds of non-perishable items to a food pantry. Through the commitment and compassion of the Philoptochos and so many parishioners of Holy Trinity, we are able to feed the hungry the homeless, the unemployed and the working poor who otherwise would not enjoy a healthy meal or any meal at all. Our homeless outreach in Manhattan, also known as the Soup Run, and the other programs have been part of our service to the communities within which we live and work for more than a decade. We have served more than 10,000 meals to our guests on the street and have provided thousands of clothing and toiletry items. The generosity of the Holy Trinity community in offering their time, talent and treasures has been overwhelming and sustains our mission of service to the poor and to live the words of Jesus: For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me., (Matthew 25:34-36). Most importantly, our team connects with those we meet. We treat them with respect, look them in the eyes as we listen and talk, know their names, and understand a bit about the lives of the regulars we see every month. For years, they have anticipated our arrival on the last Thursday of every month rain or shine, snow or heat. Please join us on the last Thursday of every month (except for holidays) at 6:30 pm in the church kitchen. All are welcome to assist with food and clothing packing, serving in Manhattan or through a $150 Soup Run sponsorship donation. 36 Holy Trinity Library Holy Trinity s parish can take pride in having established and developed a growing lending library that is set in a most attractive room. The purpose of our library is to help preserve and promote an understanding of our Orthodox faith and Greek heritage through the written word. We have approximately 2,800 books for adults and children on Orthodoxy, Greek history, culture, and literature. Because we are one of the few churches in the New York area to have such a library, our parishioners should be sure to sign out the books properly and return the books promptly and in good condition. Instructions for checking out and returning books are posted in the library, and we appreciate your consideration in following them. In addition to being open on Sundays, the library will be open during this year s festival; please stop by to look through our collection and to purchase a book or two from our discounted inventory. Thank you very much to all our generous donors for the newest additions to our bookshelves, which are listed below.
