1 Trinitarian Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 10 Mill Road, New Rochelle, New York holytrinitynr.org June July 2018 Edition 2018 Graduates Edition Dear Graduates from our Holy Trinity Family, What a tremendous joy it is to greet you; our High School, College and Graduate School graduates for yet another year! For the record, there is a good chance that I baptized most of you who are High School AND College graduates of this year, considering the fact that God blessed me to come to Holy Trinity 22 years ago. How blessed you all have made me feel these days! Many people say that we live our lives in chapters. We close many chapters of our lives when we come to the many milestones in our educations; high school, college, graduate school, etc. But, much like the Feast of Pentecost which closes the chapter of the Lord s life here on earth and Holy Ascent into heaven, Pentecost opens the next chapter of all of our lives signifying the beginning of our lives newly filled with the Holy Spirit to go into the world and spread God s Word to everyone in our midst. Like Pentecost; Graduation is a culmination..and a beginning! And whether you are finishing High School, College or Graduate School, your lives will take on a new beginning. Even in our adult lives, we find ourselves closing old chapters and starting new ones due to the many reasons that force even us to progress in life. Never fear! If you are reading this small note, know that God is with you.and that, with God all things are possible. Leap forward! Take the steps to insure that your future points in a forward direction! We, your parents and I, are here to guide you through the narrow passage of education out into the world of responsibility, hard work and the fulfillment of your every dream. I echoed the words of the Prophet Joel last Sunday in my sermon who said that; your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions! Go, envision and make the world a better place than you found it! Don t just do great.for I know you all will do great; but rather, go into the world and do good. You have faith, family and friends, all of whom will carry you through the difficulties, trials and tribulations that we all went through. Please know that your Holy Trinity Church at 10 Mill Road (just in case you forget!) is always open to welcome you, at any time, and for any reason you ever need. We, your parents and I, believe in you and stand by your side as we send you into the world to make it better than you found it! Your Spiritual Father, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America

3 June, 2018 Dear Fellow Parishioners, We greet you following the celebration of the Nameday of our Church; Great and Holy Pentecost, to share with you some important upcoming events for our Community. Firstly, we share with you our plans for the continuation of the Restoration Program of the Community. We are hard at work finishing the estimates for the exterior drainage problems below our parking lot and building. Being that the school building was erected over a running stream of water, certain drainage problems cause havoc to the building. Secondly, we will order the carpet for the remainder of the building as soon as we raise the $25, needed to replace it. We also realize that we need to modify the classroom next to the parish office into a clergy office and small conference room so that the clergymen are closer to the pulse of the parish and that the office has some additional, much needed space. Fr Patrick s office will revert back to a classroom as soon as we finish. Finally, we need to share with you that Father Patrick has completed two years in the Community as an assistant priest. Although we would love for him to continue here at Holy Trinity, he has asked to be assigned to his own parish beginning August 1 st of this year. He and Presvytera Jessica have asked to be transferred to a community closer to their family with the hopes of starting their own. We are grateful for the two years they have been with us and wish them well. We also acknowledge and are grateful that Fr Patrick has made a great impression on the young people of the community, and has offered a superb Monday School to so many in and outside of the parish. Since his arrival, he has worked diligently to revitalize the Holy Trinity Website as well as other social network ministries. We are confident that he will serve our Holy Archdiocese faithfully wherever he may go. For all this we thank him and pray for his success. We will work with our Archdiocese to help us find a second clergyman to continue the dynamic youth ministries and programs vital to the success of our parish. Faithfully,

8 What a busy year we have had so far! This year s Easter Market was a huge success! We raised more that $17,499.52! The funds will support our many philanthropic endeavors. The tables were overflowing with baked goods, Easter treats and Lenten delicacies. Many thanks to the Easter Market Committee for organizing such a fabulous fund raiser, and thank you to all the women and men who helped with the cooking, baking, setting up and cleaning up. We were very fortunate to have received monetary donations and donations of supplies which helped make this year s Easter Market the most profitable ever. A very special thank you to all! And then Easter eggs, Easter eggs and more Easter eggs more than 60 dozen red Easter eggs to be exact. Thank you everyone in the community who dyed Easter eggs for our Paschal celebration. Thank you Cyndi Anctil and Vicky Yotides for organizing this special project. The Ladies Philoptochos has added another local project to our numerous ministries. Our volunteers host dinners (prepared by our own Chef Manny) for the members of Gilda's Club of Westchester. Gilda's Club provides welcoming, free cancer support for individuals, their families and friends. Gilda's Club also offers networking, support groups, workshops, education and social activities. To learn more about this ministry contact Colleen Kourakos or Liz Zoulis. Thank you Colleen and Liz Homeless Outreach Thank you to Despina Kartson and Maria Scaros and all the members of the Holy Trinity community who contribute their time to this important outreach. During the past 9 months, our soup runs have been generously sponsored and supported by many parishioners to whom we are most grateful. These sponsorships have enabled us to provide delicious, warm meals and often supplement clothing donations with purchased item that we know are most needed by the homeless. Your donations are distributed on the streets of Manhattan to people who have nothing more than the bags they carry. Your dedication is greatly appreciated and inspires us all. Thank you so much for your continued support. Cooking for HOPE - As many of you know we not only have the privilege of serving the Manhattan community through our monthly Soup Run, but we also have the privilege of serving our local community right here in New Rochelle. Through Hope Community Services we are able to serve the many people in our own local community who find themselves in a difficult time and can t make ends meet. Many thanks to Stephanie Madouros and Linda Kondos and to all who help cook for the HOPE Soup Kitchen. A special thank you to Bessie, George, Colleen, Helen, Michelle, Marie, Eddie, Thoma, Chrisie, Nico and Nico, Carrie and Eva, Kathy, Lydia, Aora, Denise, Fr. Nick and Fr. Patrick who have generously given their time shopping, chopping, cooking, cleaning and delivering a warm nutritious meal for those who are in need of a little extra help. Knitting For Charity Our knitting group has been busy working on scarves and other items including some amazing baby sweaters and blankets. Many items were sold at the Easter Market boutique and plan to sell special items at this year s Candlelight Dinner with the proceeds going to feed the homeless. Thank you, Anthoula Deknatel, for organizing such a fun and worthwhile project. Community Food Drive- Each week our community collects food staples for the HOPE Food Pantry in New Rochelle. We have collected close to 300 nonperishable food items. Thank you to Chrissa Skeadas for delivering the food, everyone who donated including the the Sunday School students and Boy Scouts. As the Food Pantry is closed in August please note that the our last drop off will be July 1st. We will resume collecting on September 16. Thank you all for your support! The Philoptochos Book Group chaired by Denise Venturas meets once a month to discuss the 'book of the month'. With free flowing discussions the members roam through a broad range of topics, ideas, and feelings that spring from each selected book.
