Read about the event in today s Epistle, Acts 20:1-11. Also read the special insert on the establishment of other Christian Churches and denominations. May Our Lord s choicest blessing be upon Gregoria Konstantinova, Mykola Logvynyuk and Thaissa Santos, who received the Holy Mystery of First Confession at yesterday s Vespers and Holy Communion at the second Liturgy this morning. We thank Mrs. Mary Ann Sklaryk who, together with the clergy, prepared the children for this very special occasion. Mnohiya Lita! We sincerely greet Nancy Meaden who recently became an Orthodox Christian through the Holy Sacrament of Chrismation. It is truly beautiful that now Nancy, her husband Mark and children Kelly and John can unite together at the Chalice of Our Lord in Holy Communion, along with the entire parish. Keep in mind that our clergy are always ready to assist anyone who would like to embrace our Holy Orthodox Faith through Holy Baptism and Chrismation. Please do not hesitate to contact them.

3 Our parish Ukrainian Festival is just around the corner on July 12 th. Plan now to help with the preparations as well as during the day of the festival A very important part of our Ukrainian Festival is the raffle table. It is 100% profit for our parish and has been very successful thanks to the generosity of parishioners and local business owners who donate the prizes. Once again, we ask you to donate baskets with various items in them for the raffle. For more information, suggestions and to register your basket, please contact Mrs. Mary Ann Sklaryk or Mrs. Pauline Osad. Parents & Grandparents: Take note!! Our Vacation Church School will be held from Monday, June 16 th through Friday, June 20 th. This program has been in existence in our parish for over 20 years. It is a fun-filled learning experience that brings much joy to our youth. Please enroll your children, grandchildren, neighbors children by contacting Mrs. Mary Ann Sklaryk. Vacation Church School is open to all youngsters they do not have to be parishioners. Also, volunteers are needed to help teach, do arts and crafts and work in the kitchen. You do not have to have children enrolled in the program in order to help. Again contact Mrs. Mary Ann Sklaryk for more information and to volunteer. Sincere thanks go out to everyone who assisted in planting the flowers around the church yesterday and to our Brotherhood for covering the cost of the flowers. We also thank Roman & Vera Malysz for decorating the exterior and interior of the church with greenery for the Holy Day of Pentecost. Please note: Following this morning s Liturgies, we resume kneeling during the proper times during the Liturgy, as indicated in the prayer books. On Tuesday, June 10 th, at 12:00 noon, our 60+ Club will hold its annual spring picnic in the parish center. All retirees are invited to attend. We strongly encourage the many individuals especially the new arrivals from Ukraine to seriously consider becoming members of our St. Vladimir parish family. Remember only the Parma Hospital notifies the clergy of any parishioners admitted and then, only if the parishioner registers as a member of St. Vladimir s. 4 Join the Fun at All Saints Camp With the end of the school year, we begin another season of camping programs at All Saints Camp. following encampments: Our Diocese sponsors the - Diocesan Church School Camp, June 22 nd July 5 th - Teenage Conference, July 6 th July 19 th - Mommy & Me/Daddy & Me July 28 th to August 1 st Parents: consider sending your children to one (or more) of the encampments. It is a wonderful opportunity for our youth to learn more about our Holy Orthodox Faith and to meet fellow Orthodox Christians. Our parish offers subsidies for those youth who are active in the parish. For more information, please speak to Mrs. Mary Ann Sklaryk, youth minister, or either of the clergy. All Saints Camp is located 120 miles east of Parma off Route 80 in Emlenton, PA. A tremendous amount of work is involved in maintaining and improving the camp and this work is ongoing, spearheaded by our parishioners. We salute Michael Nakonachny and Hans Harasimchuk for using their vacation time this past week to work on various projects. At a time when most young people prefer to use vacation time to travel and relax, these individuals have chosen to go to the camp so that everything will be ready for our encampments. We also thank Mr. Hans Harasimchuk, who helped at the camp during Memorial Day weekend and is always a willing volunteer. Thank you to all who made last Sunday s end-of-the-school-year picnic lunch so enjoyable. The cooperation with both the preparation and clean up was outstanding, as was the donations of pastry and desserts. The 4 th Annual St. Panteleimon bowling event will be held on Friday, June 13 th, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Yorktown Lanes, 6218 Pearl Road in Parma Heights. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Pizza and pop are included. Shoes are rented at the bowlers expense. Tickets may be purchased online at or by phoning Fr. John. All proceeds benefit St. Panteleimon Orthodox Christian Outreach, which ministers to Orthodox residents in area nursing homes. Annually, June 14 th is designated Flag Day. At one time, flags flew from every home on a National Holiday. Let us return to a time when we were proud to be American and display our national colors from our homes. Flags can be purchased at almost all major stores. Attend Church every Sunday as a Family and unite with Our Lord in Holy Communion.

5 May Our Lord bless His newly Baptized and Chrismated servant, Daniel Lutsyak who, this morning, received the Holy Mysteries. We greet his parents, godparents and all family members on this blessed occasion. Mnohiya Lita! Our Festival Committee will hold a meeting in the cultural center gallery tomorrow, June 9 th, at 7:00 p.m. This meeting is open to anyone who would like to attend and offer their assistance and suggestions. Remember that there is No Vacation from God! Attend Liturgy every Sunday as a family. When out of the area, look for a church to attend. Also, continue to use your Sunday offering envelopes when on vacation. Our expenses take no vacation. In fact, they increase in the summer because of the use of air conditioning in the church during services. Thank you to our Youth Minister, Mary Ann Sklaryk, Debbie Greaves and Donna Kominko for their continued love and dedication to the youth of our parish by serving as Sunday School teachers. We commend all parents who take seriously the need to give their children a strong Orthodox Christian education by bringing them to Sunday Liturgy and Sunday School. Thank you to the family of the late Theodore & Mae Senica for donating 3 beautiful icons for display in our church and school. Congratulations to all children of our Ukrainian Schools of Dance, Music and Art for a beautiful end-of-the-school-year recital. We appreciate the dedication of their teachers. We also thank the staff of our Taras Shevchenko School of Ukrainian Studies for their dedication in educating our youth. The school ended its academic year yesterday, with a Moleben. The school year had an enrollment of 170 students. Ukrainians have the tradition of arranging for a luncheon or dinner following various services, such as Baptisms and 40 th day and yearly Memorial Services for loved ones. In most cases, the hosts inform family and friends of these plans and invite them, in advance, to the service and luncheon. The clergy are also invited. However, the invitation to the clergy is often extended at the conclusion of the services and they frequently have other commitments. At times, the family is disappointed because the clergy do not attend. Please remember that if you want the clergy to participate in the luncheons, you should extend the invitation in advance so that they can plan their schedules accordingly. Next Sunday, the 3 rd Sunday in June, is annually designated as Father s Day. Following both Liturgies, memorial services will be served for all departed pastors and fathers. On that day, our Senior U.O.L. will present each man with a boutonnière. We thank the League in advance for this beautiful gesture.
