On Sunday, August 20 th 2017, the Gospel Service Congregation at West Point reconvened services following summer break. The Gospel Service had over 200 Cadets in attendance on this glorious day.

2 Ministry that Made a Difference #1 This week I am privileged to share four significant events that took place since the last issue of GRACE. The following events showcase why West Point s Religious Support Program is unique, unmatched, and undoubtedly... Making a Difference! On Sunday, August 20 th 2017, the Gospel Service Congregation at West Point reconvened services following summer break. The Gospel Service had over 200 Cadets in attendance on this glorious day. An amazing fact is this: The West Point Gospel service went from nonexistence to, one year later, having a solid congregation of faithful Cadets, Cadet Candidates, and Community members. Just take a look at these nice photos. And not only are Cadets finding a great place to fellowship, many Cadets have expressed how their growing and sustaining faith in God has really helped them through difficult and challenging times. 3 Ministry that Made a Difference #2 From August 2017, the Jewish Congregation at West Point conducted a Plebe Retreat at Kutz Camp, Warwick, NY. This annual event is an important element of this faith community as it serves to introduce 4 th Class Cadets to the rich, supportive Jewish community in and around West Point. Attending this special event were 12 Jewish Cadets (Plebes, Yearlings, and Cows). Our Cadets were blessed to have the solid and capable leadership of Jewish Lay Leader, LTC Benjamin Wallen, who faithfully supports the vibrant ministry of our beloved Rabbi, Chaplain David Ruderman. 4 Ministry that Made a Difference #3 From August 2017, our Protestant USCC Chaplains provided the Class of 2021 Protestant Cadets the opportunity to hear the Gospel, grow in their relationship with God, and be assured that God dwells within them. This annual Protestant Plebe Retreat at Camp Buckner was led by 2 nd Class Cadets and strongly supported by 3 rd Class Cadets. Cadet Ben Sims was the Cadet in Charge (CIC). Using Dwelling Place as the theme for the retreat, the weekend included praise and worship led by Cadets, three teachings by Chaplains, six testimonies by Cadets, a men and women s breakout session, free time, directed quiet time, and ended with 7 Plebes getting baptized and 8 Plebes rededicating their lives following the Saturday Evening Altar Call. A combined evening with Catholic Cadets on Saturday included swing dancing and watching the McGregor vs. Mayweather fight. Beat Navy! Beat Sin! Fear Not... God Dwells Within!

5 Ministry that Made a Difference #4 On a beautiful Sunday morning, 27 August 2017, our Garrison Chaplain (Chaplain Bob Marsi) had the pleasure of baptizing COL Andrew Hanson and PV2 Liline Smith in the Hudson River. We are extremely grateful for these special moments of faith expression, and look forward to increasing responses of faith across our faith communities as West Point s Religious Support Program boldly walks by faith toward and into FY18.
