3 Mt. Zion Church of Ontario South Campus Statement to Read before Leading Responsive Reading Acts 2:41-47 (NASB) Good Morning! Our theme for 2018 is Living for God-Sized Results! Join me in reading the refreshing teaching from Jesus, regarding living for God-sized results. Minister 41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. Congregation 42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Minister 43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. Congregation 44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; Minister 45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Everyone 46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. 3

8 The Gifts of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 12:1-13 & Pastor Kelvin Aikens A-4 (Our Identity) Attract with Love Attract the unchurched with the love of Christ (John 13:34-35). Arm with the Truth We are to Arm the unchurch with the Truth of God s Word (John 8:31-32, 17:17). Affirm with Faith We are to Affirm them in their Faith in Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 1:24; Gal. 4:14). Animate with Hope Once they are Affirmed in the Faith, they will become enthusiastically hopeful realizing the Word of God is true and their salvation is sure. (1 Pet 1:3, 3:15). Key Statement: Spiritual Gifts are sovereignly designed given to every member of the body of Jesus Christ to enhance, unite, and perfect the body. 1. Although our Spiritual Gifts are different, they are all from the same source (vs 4-6). 2. Spiritual Gifts are to make the body of Christ more profitable (vs 7 & 1 Pet. 4:10). 3. Spiritual Gifts are uniquely and individually designed for the possessor (1 Cor. 7:7). 4. All Spiritual Gifts are sovereignly given (vs 11). 5. Spiritual Gifts are to be used (1 Tim. 4:14). 6. The possessor of the Spiritual Gift is expected to develop their gift (2 Tim. 1:6). 7. Don t become content, but always strive-desire-pray for other gifts (vs 12:31; 14:1). Personal : Father, thank You for Your Holy Spirit, which at conversion, provides each of us at least one Spiritual Gift! Please help me to develop my Spiritual Gifts so I can use it more effectively for the edification of your body. I understand my gifts are not for me and I realize I m not here by happenstance, but it was sovereignly designed for me to be where I am today, because my gifts are needed here. Help me find the slot You prepared just for me to be productive within this congregation. I don t want to be set-aside, nor do I want my gifts to lie dormant. Lord, lead me and guide me as I strive to be a good steward of the gift(s) You have given me. I m so grateful and I thank You for my gifts, but Lord I pray You provide me more gifts, so I can be used in an even greater capacity. I live to love and to serve You in all that I do. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen. 8
