1 August 7, 2013 Volume 27 Issue 15 From the Pastor Sunday we re going to be thinking about faith. The New Testament book of Hebrews speaks of Abraham s faith: By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place which he was to receive as an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was to go. That s faith, isn t it? Going out, not knowing where you re going! Abraham went way out to the edge of things, where only faith would go. And he became the father of a multitude of the faithful, reaching all the way down to us. Sometimes faith seems to be all we have left. Life can run rough-shod over us, leaving us weak and near defeat. What would we do without faith? Some medical diagnosis can leave us shaken and full of fear, and we cling to our faith. Someone we love and trust betrays us and leaves us empty of everything but our faith. In some of our hours of crisis and uncertainty we are left bereft of everything, it seems, except our faith. By faith, says the writer of Hebrews, we can face what must be faced. Together let us keep the faith. See you Sunday. David Girl Scout Book Collection Project August My name is Brandy Dunham and I am working on my Girl Scout gold award.
