6 BRUCE & IRENE MCATEE, Hellenic Ministries, Greece Pray this week July 16 thru 22. Bruce informs us that the Greek Teen Camp will be underway, supported by a team from GCC, some of whom are coming from 2 weeks of ministry in Budapest. Bruce was the original youth pastor at GCC but responded to God s call to Greece in the eighties. He began in Athens in 1987, working with youth, refugees, Bible distribution, construction. One aspect of the ministry has been a combined discipleship/evangelism ministry, using the mission s boat, the Morning Star. This requires a certain level of regular maintenance, an activity in which Bruce and a number of the staff have been recently involved. Recent unrest in the mid-east has amplified the refugee situation. The mission is not only concerned with food and clothing for these but for medical needs and expectant mothers needing assistance. Bruce met Irene on a mission trip to the 2000 Olympics in Australia, where she grew up. They were married in 2002 and have two daughters, Grace and Emily. The girls have experienced difficulty in the local school and have been able to transfer to the American Community School. Additional prayer needs include finances for Grace s and Emily s school tuition and for money to pay for the New Testaments which were distributed early in July. 7 Please note your prayer requests on today s Connection Card. Also, remember to tell us how God answers. Our love and sympathy to Blanche Cottingham and family on the homegoing of her sister-in-law, Joyce Sylcox. She was at peace. Please keep the family in your prayers. Blanche thanks everyone for their prayers for Joyce during her illness. They were much appreciated. Ruthetta Hunt had a heart catherization procedure this past week. Doctors placed a stent and ballooned another area. She is doing well. Pray this procedure will result in relief from the discomfort and other symptoms she has been experiencing. Cheryl Hulme asks for prayers that the hospice she has worked out for her mom will go well while she is in Kentucky with our Short- Term team this week. Her mom continues to struggle with Alzheimer s disease and remains on hospice as she and her family continue to care for her. Pray for Regena Foulkes left eye to continue to heal completely before they drive back to Florida. She wants to be able to help Peter with the driving. Regena & Peter wish to thank everyone for their prayers for her surgery and post-op recovery. Linda Barrow - I would like to thank everyone for praying for my sister, Karen Thompson. She had her MRI and it shows a benign cyst in her head, possibly on the brain, but it is fine. Praise the Lord it is not cancer! Thanks to all who kept praying for her. Phil Holeman, Tim Holeman and Lori Carr s brother, had a lawn mowing accident that may result in the amputation of his foot because of the severity of his injury. Please pray for Phil, the family, and for wisdom for the doctors. Jason Krute - Praise! My father has been declared cancer free. Jim Smith is at Villages of St. Peters room #320B with a severe case of pneumonia which is also affecting his Parkinson issues. He would love visitors, cards, and your prayers. Please remember to pray for our upcoming fall events and for the volunteers needed to help with MOPS and Awana. These are two of our largest community outreach programs and many volunteers are needed to make these programs happen. Pray God will guide the many needed volunteers to register to help. Awana volunteers may register at gcchapel.org/awana. MOPS Kids volunteers may Cindy Less at cless@gcchapel.org. Ongoing prayers for long-term health battles: Joyce Bowman, Les Oleze, Roger Rodgers, Don Petty, Leon Arnold, Sherry Libby, Chelle Bell, John Wagner, Cyndi, Mackenzie, & Brittany Tomazi, Chris Dean, Art Tapy, Virgil & Betty Henderson, Phyllis Borgardt, Gary Todd, Anita Wescott, Ken Hardee, Marjorie Schoonover, Nancy Forth, and Michael O Rourke.
